As much as MK8 has sold, MK Wii sold even more. Even just until a few years ago it was still selling like 40,000 copies a year. I suspect if you were the kids that grew up with that game ended up PC gamers and learning about modding I just wanted to keep playing it.

What happened? Bought 7 Artifex Mundi games on the switch sale. Completed The Cursed Child, nice artwork and I really liked the setting. These games are so relaxing to play. I'm pretty sure I'll buy every one of their games assuming they eventually reach the super low price.
Fuck Mario Kart 8. If Nintendo isn't going to release Mario Kart 9 this gen, then they should at least release a new Wave Race and/or F-zero.
I completely agree with the latter part of this statement. Possibly even a 1080 game if they dial back the madness of Avalanche.
On the other hand I'm ok with how Nintendo only releases one main entry per franchise every gen. Personally I think 2022 is a bit soon for Splatoon3 for example.
RE8 reviews are a bit mixed. 84 meta, lots think it's better than 7 some say no. Seems the game can be uneven but when it's great it's some of the best in the series.

I didn't really look in to it, but I think it's cool they're making the garage parts from the Labo series into a standalone game. There's a lot of interest in stuff that teaches kids the basic idea's behind coding and this fits right in there. Seems to me that this is more an educational tool to tap into that segment than a real game. Would be nice if it wasn't sold at full price though.
edit: apparently it's priced at roughly 'half of a full game'. So that's that.
Mclassic came today. Don't have my older consoles with me, so only tested switch so far. If you set your switch to 720p and have the mclassic on its a big step up and you can clearly see it working. However when I set the switch to 1080p the gains are less obvious. Minor pixel smoothing and good colour correction. Still output at 1080p. Unfortunately you need a TV or monitor that supports 1440p QHD 2k essentially, to get that higher resolution output. And most tvs are either 1080p or 4k. But even tested with a 720p signal you can see its going to make your 720p games on ps3/360, even Wii u, much better. Need to check it with dvds and Bluray next. Hoping for 4k with 1080p Bluray. Also read in the instructions that it doesn't really process 480i, it has to be 480p or 576p to upscale to 1080p
Okay tested some Bluray and dvds. The bad news, your dvds don't look like Blurays with mclassic. But it does significantly improve the picture and turn live action content from unwatchable to watchable on a 4ktv. Now 480p dvds only process to 1080p through mclassic. I tried leaving my player outputting 1080p and the mclassic does indeed spit out the image in 4k. But it looks fugly, much better letting your player outputting 480p and letting the mclassic upscale to 1080p. With Blurays the effect was better, turning your 1080p Blurays into a 4k output. Things are cleaner and sharper. Still not as clear as native 4k but a good improvement. Now where I found the most difference and biggest effect was Anime. It took a dvd Naruto and made it 1080p, though noticibly less sharp than Bluray it made it watchable without constantly being pissed off or irked about poor picture quality. And the retro mode even let it output in the correct 4:3 ratio. Now 1080p Anime Blurays, this is where I wad happiest, when I got a 4ktv I was a touch miffed that previously sharp and smooth pictures became softer and noisier with jaggy edges. Through mclassic it spits them out to 4k and lines are sharper and cleaner and pictures are smoother with less artifacts. It seems the straight lines of Anime make it easier for the mclassic to smooth them out and I suspect this will hold true for older consoles too. So is the mclassic worth it? Well I will test GC/Wii/Wii U over the weekend, so wait till then. At the moment for 100 dollars, I wouldn't buy it for one console expecting amazing differences (unless your TV supports 1440p) But as a device that can work on multiple sources, I'm fairly happy with it. It seems like a luxury product, if you have the cash to spare. So far if I were to quantify the effect, it varies, from 10% better with 1080p games, 30% better with 720p games, 20% better with 1080p Blurays, 40% better with dvd movies (which still don't look great)
Whoa... Xenoblade 2 looks so much better in 720p processed by mclassic to 1080p. Vs switch set to 1080p without mclassic. On a 4ktv its some blurry jaggy shit. Through mclassic its smooth and clean. Hands down better. That's like some voodoo magic. However didn't really notice any difference on Splatoon 2.
Mario Odyssey is slightly cleaner and seems to glow. Can't really explain it better, the picture just pops more. Zelda BOTW it smooths jagged edges. Not a massive difference though. Wish I had a 2k capable mode, 1080p games would look awesome.
Mclassic seems quite selective over what it improves. I tried Akira on dvd. It's watchable and improved but not a miraculous clean picture or anything. Then I tried Ip Man on dvd and it looks like an 80s VHS. I have a feeling the dvd itself doesn't run in progressive scan so the device does nothing. 4k has fucked up my dvd collection. Is this the future? 8ktvs making 4k content look shitty? 12k tvs making 8k content look shitty? Will this ever end?
Nintendo financials are insane. Most profit for any game company for one year, $6billion. 86 million switches sold. It will pass wii this year and it's on its way to PS2 levels. Animal Crossing has sold 32 million copies. Super Mario 3D world already outsold the Wii U version. Everything is selling.
I never really visited Giant Bomb or watched many of their videos but for some reason it feels a bit sad to see Alex and Brad leaving.
Yeah, I still listened to their podcasts every week. They confirmed the East cost podcast last episode today.
Must be a real shitshow since CBS sold them to Red Ventures. I thought it telling that when Brad, Alex and Vinny announced their resignation only Vinny said that it "was his choice". I am betting they laid off Brad and Alex. Ben Pack and the other millenial resigned at the time fo the takeover (or very shortly thereafter).
They should go do a Patreon if they want to continue, but based on comments from Vinny and Alex they are fucking DONE with being online personalities and the grind.
I was debating on which game to pick up. Ghosts of Tsushima or Resident Evil. I think I've decided on Ghosts since it probably provides more replayability and is cheaper. *Winks at Supreme*
