Not gonna lie...That Half Life VR game looks really good. But it's too bad they're more concerned with using the franchise to sell VR than they are to give fans what they've wanted for two generations.
Why not just make a true HL game that also supports VR, like they do with many games today?
I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I got pins and needles all over and hyperventilated. I couldn't move my legs. Stupid delivery guy kept pushing this dresser onto me even when I said stop, I tripped over the step and had the thing crushing me. Then I had to do the power squat of all squats to get it off me. Couldn't even move for the next hour.
Damn. Just one guy to deliver? I had that happen to me a few years back when I bought a couch...had to help the guy bring it in. Good thing I was home.
I remember when I was younger doing construction for a few weeks. Guy dropped two heavy gas cylindars with my hand caught in the middle....squished my pinckie like a pancake. Hurt like hell. I literally thought I was losing my finger. The whole nail was black for weeks but luckily it ended up being fine. I think that was my last day.
Yep, the trailer definitely makes it look like they're going to be trying to use the medium in interesting ways. If they had any interest in just making another Half-Life without some creative inspiration behind it, there would have been several more Half-Lifes by now. Which is why I don't really buy the cynicism of people saying they're doing this just to sell Vives. Surely it would have been a much more profitable strategy to have made Half-Life 3, 4, etc, by now? It's not like the Episodes didn't sell well.
While I might not think as much of Half-Life as most people, and there's numerous things to criticise about Steam, Valve is pretty clearly a developer that takes its creativity reasonably seriously, so VR-only makes perfect sense.
Ouch, sorry to hear about the accident! I hope your legs improve soon.
I was doing that in Rainbow Six back on the OG Xbox with a simple analog stick though.
Steam is why. Without it, we would probably be playing HL5 right now. Which is why I lean more towards the idea that they're using HL to sell Vives.
Bk, no neck or back injury? Numb and tingle is usually a nerve issue unless somehow that was crushing your circulation but in that case the feeling would go away very soon after. You might have gotten a stinger on some nerve root in the spine. How do you feel now?
I am obviously happy it's VR only, rather them focus to make a revolutionary VR game than some half attempt. But maybe down the line they make some regular version. Trailer was great, still don't see anything new and I didn't even see any locomotion though they confirm it's free move so that's good. But holy shit it's a new Half life, I'm super excited!
How does Steam prevent the development of Half-Life?
Hell, Half-Life 2 and the two episodes, not to mention the two Portals and Garry's Mod were all made and released post-Steam.
So this weekend I returned to the Mansion and murdered several people in Uncharted 4 multiplayer. What about you, ghost hunters?
