I'm almost finished with my second play-thru of Call of Cthulhu. After this I'll probably put it away for a while, but I do heartily recommend it to any adventure game fans. And a couple days ago I restarted Breath of the Wild. I tried picking up where I left off since I was only 17 hours in but that didn't work. I was just too lost, so I started fresh. Probably the right move.
Our governor has already ordered evacuations for every county on the coast.
I’ve mostly been playing Dauntless. Starting to tire with the grind and will likely drop this once Iceborne comes out.
Stay safe northern friends. We won’t get much down here. This thing is a monster.
I’ve put some time into the DQ11 demo as well and it’s excellent. Regardless of if I put anymore time into it I’ll definitely be picking the game up when it launches at the end of this month.
Healthy demo, but that's maybe 10% of the game. In fact, maybe less with all the additional content they added for the new version.
It's cool that you can transfer your save data across to the full game. Part of me feels like buying it just to thank them for the generous demo. It's nice that they have the confidence in the game to allow you to play that long. Wish there were more demos this long.
God I can’t wait for Zelda LA already. I’ve been playing open world stuff, I just need classic game design.
Tomorrow I hope we get a big surprise in the direct.
So who has astral chain, how is it?
Concerning Astral Chain I'm actually put off by the fact that it's not just all action. I haven't been in the mood for long games all year and I expect that I won't be liking all this extra fluff anyhow. Would just have preferred them to stick with their old formule, although I respect their choice to branch out.
This is how I lean as well.
I've always been more on the exploration/puzzle solving side of things rather than all out action anyway.
Which leads me into the fact that I'm replaying the original Tomb Raider right now which REALLY makes me wish they would ditch the Gears of Uncharted style & go back to this. Even in the FPS genre, unless it's something like Quake or whatever, I prefer a more exploration based game....even Doom 2016 had a nice mix of that. It wasn't all mindless action.
Playing TR again for the first time since the 90's is a real trip. It makes you realize how dumbed down & Hollywood games have become on the whole. Even the remake they did in 2007 didn't really go back to this style. I love games that are all about ambient atmosphere & isolation like this. Something to compare it to would be Metroid Prime in that way. Even the way it uses sound & music, where it really only kicks in once in a blue moon, usually when you come across an important area or a dangerous enemy. It amplifies the whole experience because it's not overused like in most modern games.
This is why Sands of Time is my favorite Prince of Persia game as well....because it was more Tomb Raider & less Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden.
I’m very much looking forward to getting Astral Chain but I need to get Gears of War 5 first.
I enjoy good world building and atmosphere as well, but it's not what I look for in a Platinum game. I'm interested in their output, but I don't care for them adding other gameplay elements and driving up the length of the game. The art style (Japanese scifi) doesn't do anything for me either.
