Yeah, there's a seperate lock, but as far as I could tell, it doesnt snap into locked mode by itself. You have to press it down into locked mode yourself.
Thanks for the heads up though, I'll be sure to double check it next time.
If Vaders phone made this post:
GAF
As seen in this breakdown, the problem with the left joycon was that the antenna is positioned in the middle of the device which allows your hands to block the signals. This problem doesn't exist for the right joycon because it's positioned at the top of the device.
It's more of a hardware design issue than a software issue I think.
I'm confused as the other image I saw was different. But these ones have th batteries removed.
Also the guy who clocked the Wii CPU has a Switch now, so he will likely be able to do a proper teardown and tell us what's what:
Marcan has already one and it seems that the OS is based on FreeBSD.

Yeah, the Switch boxes were tiny yet the Zelda special edition is freaking huge.
Thanks for reminding me about Nioh....another game I need to get at some point. I wish it was on PC because I have a shit ton of credits. Oh well.
I read a review on Amazon for the Wii U version. The guy says it's identical except for much longer loading times and a lower resolution.
It's kind of crazy when I think about it. The Switch would not even have a game worth buying if they didn't go and hold Zelda back for it. What would be the system seller? Bomberman? Nothing against Bomberman, but....ugh.

My switch just arrived.
I will also play Injustice 1.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
OMFG guys, be super careful attaching the joy con straps.
I put mine on the wrong way. You have to align the minus or plus symbols.
Because the joycons attach top down on the switch itself I did the same with the joycon straps and they got stuck and I thought they were locked into place and I'd broken them.
If you do this like me, you have to push them all out in the opposite direction.
I have updated and read the news page.
I tried the joycon stick calibration and like Gamexplain said, the left joycon definitely has signal interference when the right stick doesn't. But I was using it within inches of my laptop with the wifi on and the screen blocking the joycon.
Other impressions - wtf was happening with all these positive joycon previews? They feel awkward. Now I haven't tried them with an actual game yet, and I'm sure I will get used to them. But first impressions are bad to me.
Attached to the switch as a portable they will be functional but the right stick placement makes it awkward to hit the buttons. The buttons are tiny too.
Attached to the grip, feels just off. I am used to the U gamepad so suddenly having my hands cramped into the middle and having an offset right stick is jarring.
A bigger problem is the sticks, the travel area is far too short. They almost feel like digital sticks.
I haven't tried any software etc yet, and not being able to use a touchscreen while viewing the OS on the tv U style feels like a step back. Guess I can undock it to do that. Otherwise the build quality is great and the system itself is tiny.
Holy crap.
Make sure you don't leave the Switch resolution settings as Automatic.
I started playing Zelda and the first two rooms were dark and murky. Soft too.
Then when I went into the settings and flipped it to 1080p it was about 3x brighter and the outside was brimming with detail. Almost looks like playing on a different console. I'm warming to the joycons used in the grip but it still feels off a bit - aside from the NES all Nintendo controllers have been very ergonomic to me so this is a curveball. But I am warming to it, the way Switch flips into handheld mode instantly is a joy.
Also the kickstand aint bad, I thought it would be horrible but it seems okay to me.
Couple of things.
The rails on the Switch unit and the joycons are both metal. Feel the railing on the joycon grip and its cold like metal and solid.
With the joycon straps, as I said it throws you for a curve ball because the joycons go on the switch main unit from top to bottom. But the joycon wrist straps work in the opposite way, you attach the joycons to the straps from bottom to top.
Remember this when you have to remove them and always make sure you align the + and the - on the joycon straps with the buttons on the joycons themselves.
Now I put zelda into sleep mode on the tv, trying it now to see how fast it wakes up for tv play.
Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....................!!!!
It's instant.
I hear that Switch only uses 2% of power over 8hrs in sleep mode. You can leave it docked in sleep mode and instantly jump back into playing any game. Wow.

Yup, I agree it looks like an N64 game and that's why I'm pumped about it. I haven't seen anyone who's played it say anything bad at all really. Look what these guys are doing with a small ass budget. It's pretty impressive what they've done with like half the budget of Mighty Number 9.

I kinda agree. I'm not sold on the character movement and interaction. Presentationally it's great.
Anyhow, I have gotten used to the Switch joycons. They still aren't as good as a normal sized controller but for what they are they aint bad. My biggest problem is the placement of the right stick and how it can feel slighly unnatural to reach the buttons.
These kinds of things are okay in a zelda game but in a splatoon match that split second hesitation means death. The pro controler is horribly expensive though.
So I have tried the joycons by themselves, the best for relaxed play, the joycons with the wrist straps, not bad. And the grip, which is probably the best for stablity but I prefer the relaxed split controller form, less painful on my poor back.
So other things about Switch - you know on the videos there was like a 3 second delay when you docked the portable before a picture appeared on the tv screen? Well I have no idea what is happening there because mine has the picture come back on the tv almost instantly! Day one patch at work?
So I was playing zelda and I took the switch out of the dock without joycons. I thought you would be able to get back to the homescreen with the touchscreen but you can't? Maybe I should have tapped the power button or something?
Update:
The sticks travel is okay and I forgot about it when playing. Fears averted.
Also, whilst actually playing Zelda I have had NO left joycon interference problems whatsover.
The funny thing is that that would be exactly what Dvader would be doing so his phone would be 100% correct.
So I like the OS, but I think the Switch is definetely a soft launch. The eshop is barebones functionality, I can't even change the quality of the videos.
There is no music on the OS at all.
And come to think of it, what was this Animal Crossing composer on BOTW paid to do? There is no fecking music in this game for hours now. I get they are trying to evoke tranquility and desolation but no music is just boring.
Also, I am shit at Snipperclips, I barely made it past the tutorial which is a shame as the presentation and music is great. I can also see how it would be fun for two players but I am too dumb to play this game.
There are some Neo Geo games up on the eshop, metal slug 3, some fighters and Shock Troopers. Wish I could migrate all my Wii VC games to this thing. It would be awesome.
Also the Switch stand flopped over..... yeah it was kinda my fault, I had it on a tray and angled the tray up to get it closer to me and of course the laws of gravity applied.

And another nail in the coffin on my opinion of digital foundry
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-face-off
The game looks way better docked, more detailed and better effects, especially smoke, mist and fog. I wonder if they even tried changing the resolution from "automatic" to 1080p in the settings? Because when I did that the difference is even more apparent. Before I did that I was wondering why the tv picture looked soft.
