Well I'm not buying begrudgingly myself because personally I'm already pretty much committed to buying Nintendo hardware for the Nintendo games. For that reason I don't really see that as a win for Nintendo, they need to get those who aren't already committed to the Nintendo franchise games, unless they are content with always being in third place with their systems each gen.
Amazon updated their Zelda Wii U pre-order page to March 3rd (this morning it stated March 31st).
i'd reconsider the Switch if Nintendo were to release a basic portable package that only had the screen and controllers for $200. I don't see them ever doing that, though.
Nice to hear that Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers isn't just a port of HD Remix. It sounds like it'll be the new definitive version of Street Fighter II. Violent Ken and Evil Ryu will be in the game with some alterations to their moves and animations to make feel a bit more unique then Ken and Ryu although it certainly would have been much better if they were built from the ground up to be unique. There doesn't seem to be any new assets for the game but there has been some rebalancing and tuning done to it. There will be online play as well. Sounds pretty good overall. I wonder if it will make its way to the other systems.
Being serious. The Switch's LINEUP looks insane.
Zelda, Mario, No More Heroes 3, Shin Megami Tensei V, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, Square-Enix Modern Pixel Art RPG, etc.
The problem is that only two of these games will be out this year. Like the 3DS, the Switch will likely be a great buy two or three years down the line when you can pick up all the games you want at once and then be in the middle of a healthy stream of titles. But purchasing one at launch will be very hard to swallow as it will lead to a drought. I can't stand "publically traded" businesses as it's all about the shareholders. This system should have launched at Summer at the earliest with Zelda, Splatoon 2, and Arms, while 1, 2, Switch would be a pack in game.
One of the site's forefathers.
This shall now be the official title of the game in my mind.
I think this article on Eurogamer sums the Switch's predicament up pretty well. As a piece of hardware it's a much more interesting proposition than the WiiU was, and the games look promising. As a gamer, it looks great. But the whole business plan around it, and the pressure that is on this system to succeed, will most likely prove too much.
Just checked some game prices. Most outlets have the games listed without a pricing, but this one place shows Zelda at €69, Mario Kart at €59 and 1 2 Switch at an eye-watering €75
How can Nintendo justify those prices? Their tech is at least a gen behind that of it's competitors. How can they hope to achieve mass market penetration when it'll cost you €400 just to play Zelda on the new hardware? Insanity. I remember the GC launching at €200 and the Wii at €250 with a pack-in game.
Always? Wii never happened? Numerous portable wins from the 80s till now never happened?
What? I can at least see 3 or 4 from that list launching this year. Mario Kart too. Nintendo has shown the release schedule.
Too simplistic a view. The innards of Switch are far more advanced and modern than PS4 or XB1 and thus you're paying a price for this modern tech. Portable smaller form factors always cost more for less gains. Doesn't mean it should be cheaper just because it pushes less pixels. For the same money you can get a far more powerful desktop over the price of the latest ipad. Doesn't mean the ipad should or could be cheaper.

The Joy-con can emulate this feeling incredibly well, I was able clearly feel three separate marbles rolling down the side of the Joy-con and then each hitting each other as they got to the bottom.
The 1-2-Switch marble box mini game asks you to guess how many marbles are in your joycon by moving it. Pretty much every time I could guess, even when there were 6-7 in there.
That was special, it even gave a false sense of weight due to the rumbles. I really like the tech.
The ice cube thing is legit.

It was a strange sensation to hold the marble dead
in the center, with a lot of balance! You'd could even feel the marble gain momentum as you tilted the Joy-con.
Only think missing is the clack sound because no speaker, but you really can feel it.
Genuine mind blown. I played that demo a lot.
There is a cow milking (?) minigame in "1, 2, Switch", where you, well, milk a cow.
And supposedly the haptics on that feel very realistic, Laura Kate Dale said it felt like actually jerking someone off, lol.
.. and as a follow-up, she said that you can feel the milk moving from the top to the bottom as you milk, so that sounds pretty interesting.
Could be a nice addition to FPS and action games (like feeling the arrow actually leaving the bow in Zelda and stuff like that).

haha, that's great.
This was the one tiny feature that really surprised me.
Could turn out really fun if it actually works.
So glad the pro controller includes it as well.

"I've never experienced a rumble like this one before.as I said, there's a certain guessing mini game in 1,2,switch that is completely mind-bliwing,using only the rumble.it's so precise, I couldn't believe it."

Starting at 1:35, this company seems to demo the tech used for HD Rumble. Seems like the cost of the Joy-Cons is largely due to this patent being licensed to Nintendo?

Seems they've trojan horsed this feature into Switch. Most impressions are super positive. A guy who tried it was saying that paired with VR it would be amazing.
I was referring to the price of their games. There's no reason why WiiU games, a system a gen behind competition, could go on sale for €40, but Switch game, a system a gen behind competition, are being charged at €70
I didn't say that they have always been third I said that they will always be third if they don't bring out a system that offers much more then mainly stuff for the already established Nintendo fans. The Wii proves my point because it tapped into a new market but it was a fickle casual market that didn't last. The portable market has been dominated by them as well because of the strong third party as well. Anyway my comment was focused on the home console market because quite frankly Nintendo just really hasn't had much competition in the portable market outside of the now growing mobile market.
Nintendo is infamous for blatantly lying about their release dates. Their games always get pushed back.

Hey Rob, we are a planning a trip to Disney after Christmas. Do you have any tips or know of any deals.
Some GAF guys who went hands on with ARMS say it's their game of the event.

Now they're comparing it to Splatoon
"Speaking of fresh, it so so wonderful to me that everyone is comparing this to Splatoon, because that's EXACTLY what I said! It has that same vibe. New IP; colorful; creative; obviously a lot of heart and soul poured into it; feels like passion project. I also went through the exact same progression of responses with ARMS as I did with Splatoon.
"Wow, are you for real with this shit Nintendo?"
"Okay, this will be a neat little novelty."
"Hey that was pretty fun."
"Woah, this is actually pretty deep..."
"Need this in my veins."
