Vivendi stake in Ubisoft passes 25%, increasing takeover threat

Boy I am conflicted about this. On one hand, I really have no love for Ubisoft.  None of their souless annual installment games really do anything for me (though I did like the last couple Rayman games), and honestly I don't see the quality of those kinds of games being affected too much by Vivendi running things.  That said, I truly loathe corporate take-overs. It's a terrible business practice. And Vivendi-Universal proved how badly they could fuck up an established franchise when they acquired Spyro and Crash Bandicoot back in the day.

Yeah while Ubisoft isn't really a developer whose games I rush out to get at launch they do have some games that I do enjoy playing when I get around to them. These kind of take overs always seem scummy and troubling so I'm hoping that Vivendi isn't successful in this.

Looks at least XB1 quality. At least Switch wont be weak graphically. That's UE4 too. Nice to know.

For the life of me I will never understand the gaming world's fascination with Wave Race. That is a boring-ass game in my book.

Anyway I will give you f-zero, and maybe Rogue leader. Everything else, meh.

One does not speak slightly of Wave Race Blue Storm  angry  That game had so much depth to it: how courses would alter depending on the tide (granted, it wasn't a realtime effect).  How you'd not only have to think of the optimal racing line, but also keep an eye on the waves, judging when to turn so that you could use the waves to your advantage.  How you could take a bouy by just gently shifting your weight on your jetski, swaying a bit to the left or right without having to change your course.

It's one of the only games where I ever bothered with time attack.  The GC was a great console for arcade racers.  This, F-zero GX, Burnout2, ...  Those were the days.

So I'm not playing a hell of a lot at the moment. I hit a brick wall in one of the final missions on Trauma Team (seriously whoever thought those endoscopy levels were a good idea should be hung by their toenails),and have gotten very frustrated with it. So I've turned back to Hearthstone, and that's been a good decision. Not sure if anyone still plays, but they just released a new expansion deck called The Mean Streets of Gagetzan and it's the best thing to happen to the game in a year. Its gotten much more balanced thanks to the new cards, and for the time since the Spring when the Whispers of the Old Gods was released I'm actually competitive again. So.... good times!

I've been playing through the Xbone version of Halo ODST the last few days and having a good time with it. This one seems to get shit on but I liked it quite a bit. That level going through the animal reserve is one of the best missions in the series. I do think it would have been great if they had added more of the squad mechanics that Halo Reach used in this one though. A bit of Republic Commando would have spiced things up rather than going lone soldier for most of the game.

I hate brick walls, they're the work of the devil. I tried a little bit of Hearthstone on my iPad and it was very enjoyable. Every now and then I contemplate on playing it more but just never get around to it.

I originally got Hearthstone so I'd have something to do during downtime at work, but wouldn't eat up a lot of bandwidth on my phone, or for something to do on the toilet. Turns into a lot more than just a time waster for me, although to date I've still only spent about $5.00 on it. Still, I think if I had something other than a Wii U to play, I have a feeling it wouldn't have become as much of a hobby for me as it ultimately became.

Kind of funny... Tonight I was ready to finally ready to start Xenoblade Chronicles now that Trauma Center is all done. Probably not a great idea though, given that I'm a bit sleep deprived. I made it to the first town, and suddenly all this text pops up about trading with people, selling items, improving relationships...and all I can think is "help. I need an adult."

Cannot think that much. That much focus does not exist in my world tonight. So I switched to Splatoon and ended up going on a 9 win run. However, the music in Xenoblade is really freaking amazing now. Just hope I can get motivated to play it.

I didn't bother with trading and relationships at all.  All those obscure mechanics are icing on the cake.  There's still plenty of cake without them.

Yeah there's definitely a ton to do in Xenoblade Chronicles and the music does kick ass, not so much in XCX though unfortunately.
