I think that my main gripe is that I don't enjoy diverging from the story in games. I don't usually enjoy messing about with systems in sandbox games, and XCX doesn't even have systems to mess about with. The only thing you can do in XCX besides the story is explore and take on boring side missions. Personally I didn't find the exploring to be interesting, so no, the hoops are not minor. When a game gates progress behind something like explore x% of a continent, that can really harm the flow of the main story if you don't go on a lot of exploration yourself.
Perhaps the game gets better once you get your mech, I don't think I'm too far off from that point. Although I try not to fast travel too much as I feel it breaks the immersion and clashes with the fact there is this huge world to traverse, so I might still be a while off. Maybe I should pick XCX up again after I've finished Wooly World, another game I'm not too enamoured with.
10 years ago today the PS3 launched in the United States; November 11th was the Japanese launch date.
In 2 days it will be 10 years since the Wii launched.
Edit* 15 years ago today the Justice League cartoon premiered. 1 year from today the Justice League movie will be in theaters.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
The game is pretty much all about exploration. You have to go out and find your fun. The game world is excellent and you can go anywhere from the start. If there was a story like the original XB it would shepard you about and limit you to one area at a time.

One of the site's forefathers.
Play fighting games!
Yes I'm sure that's it.
No one actually likes it, we just pretend.
Ah well, that explains a lot.

This commercial played before something I did want to see. Usually I click these things away the second the option to skip comes available, but this was... diffrent.
Waiting in line for a Wii U with a bunch of fat guys. Heck of a way to start the morning.
Probably not the best use of my time, but oh well. I enjoyed the system all the same.
It was ok. The worst main console Nintendo has made though.
I didn't wait in line because I preordered it online.
It arrived 8 days after the Wii U launched.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
I still put it a notch above the N64. I don't think I played more than 10 games and most of the library has not aged well. But yeah, Wii U does not make the list of my favorite consoles. I definitely backed the wrong horse this generation.
I played a lot of games for the N64 but I guess I was the right age at the time.
I was between ages 10 and 18 when I played the N64.
It came out in 1996 and I played it through 2004 when I got a GCN.
Sure I played some Dreamcast and PS2 but my friends and I kept going back to the N64 until we all got a GCN in 2004.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Well in a way he is right. They pretend that it is a good game when in fact it is an excellent game.
Personally I think that the N64 was the worst main console that Nintendo has made.
My two favorite Nintendo consoles are SNES and GCN; I owned them the least ammount of time before we got the next Nintendo system.
We got our SNES around 1994 and we got the N64 in 1997.
I got the GCN in 2004 and I got the Wii in 2006.
But I still had the most ammount of fun with those systems I actually played the SNES until 2006; I quit playing the GCN around the same time because my sister borrowed both systems and never gave them back.
But I still played GCN games on my Wii until my GCN controllers broke.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
My two favourite Nintendo systems were the SNES, so many amazing games and the Wii U.
Final Fantasy XV is only 10 days away now. GET HYPED!!!
