They should have broken the piggy bank and made more exclusives and stronger hardware, then they could have 3rd-party support too.
Really, they should have known 3rd-parties were going to jump off once competing systems came around, with what they were doing with Wii U. If they were banking on 3rd-party support on a console that doesn't really fit in with the others, it just shows how out of touch they are.
But even if they had say matched PS4, I think I, and many others, would still use PS4 or Xbone as my primary console because their services are so much more robust than Nintendo's, and also it doesn't seem like a major deal, but Nintendo's lack of a trophy system really hurts too. The trophy systems for Xbox and PS just make them feel that much more "connected" and whatnot. So going forward with the NX, that's what Nintendo needs to realize. Its not just comparable tech they need...its everything else too.
And these crappy spinoff games...good god all it does is lower your quality standards and run the risk of people writing off your franchises....especially something like Metroid. Here is a series that was on the verge of becoming more mainstream and not so niche, and Nintendo has done nothing but hurt it since the Prime trilogy wrapped up.
Xbox was 4 years, but it was on the upswing in releases and popularity when Microsoft killed it early to get a head start with 360. Not sure about Europe, but over here in the US the Xbox was basically the most popular system by 2004. And it was so powerful that I think they could have easily kept it going for 6 years up until PS3 released. But then, they wouldn't have had 360 get such an easy lead.
You really can't compare Xbox and U though...Wii U is STRUGGLING to last 4 years, and this is the first Nintendo system that's had even close to this much struggle. Xbox was THRIVING with tons of great games pushing its tech when they killed it. It probably would have ended up outselling Gamecube by a much larger amount had they kept it going until 2006.
I would entitle this photo: Douches escort douches through E3...
...I almost feel bad for Keighley. It almost looks as if chaperoning gave him a stroke!
Nomura shows interest in Final Fantasy V, VI remakesmynintendonews.com
Great. Thanks obsessed Final Fantasy 7 fans! People complain there aren't enough new games. They complain about Final Fantasy 7 not being remade at the same time. Now we're back to: Hey! Let's remake everything in our old catalog, again! And they wonder why less games are being made and the industry doesn't progress. I would be confused as fuck too, if I were a developer!
Keighley just needs his MTN Dew and Doritos fix.
Keighley's not doing his job very well, btw... Doesn't he see Von Kaiser sneaking up behind Dweebus, or whatever the kids call him these days!?
To be fair, under that hood COULD be Little Mac!
Come see EAs cancelled Just Dance rivalWas a Wii game
My God... WHY?!
Maybe Little Mac stole Von Kaiser's bike?
**Sorry, that was bad! Couldn't resist though!**
PS: You know you are addicted to Puzzle and Dragons when you find yourself thinking thoughts like: "Hmmm... rather than developing a team exclusively of one color that will do no damage if other gems are matched, yet will defeat the opposing element's monsters fairly easily... Why not just build teams that have 4 of the five colors and just NOT include the color that would be weak to that paticular pairing anyway? I need to edit my teams AGAIN, dammit"
Yeeeaaaahhhhh. Addicted.
I was just on vacation for a while. And on vacation, I played Puzzle and Dragons while drinking a Banana Bread Beer in my Hotel Room. I played Puzzle and Dragons while sitting by the indoor pool. I played Puzzle and Dragons while eating a Maple Bacon Donut and drinking a freshly squeezed Orange Juice. I played Puzzle and Dragons while sitting in a lounge overlooking my old college campus. I played Puzzle and Dragons while waiting for my Pear Martini and Truffle burger. I even played Puzzle and Dragons while I was getting my cock sucked... **just cause I always wanted to do that last one!**
Do we see a trend here?
I don't think they were neccesarily banking on 3rd party support, but I don't think they anticipated a complete blacklisting either. If they had they never would have gone through with it IMO. I agree with you, the quality of the spin offs are important, Captain Toad is awesome but some F2P board game Animal Crossing isn't going to cut it.
Absolutely. They canned it because of the cost of production and having to stem $4 billion in losses though. I'm unsure if "success" by any and all means counts for much though, when you burn up that kind of capital. In the end it only sold like 4 million more than GC. The only thing I am comparing here is lifecycle duration, the same number of years.
Whether one was more succesful or not - regardless Xbox had a 4 year lifecycle, so if U manages to eek out the same with a few decent 2016 exclusives I'm not going to urinate on one and let off the other.
And to be clear I'm not saying that you or anybody else here is (U-rinating on U)
Reggie says the current state of VR isn’t fun "At least based on what I’ve seen to date, it’s not fun, and it’s not social. It’s just tech.”
Reggie also said its fun and social to not have any 3rd-party games on the Wii U. He's insane.
This guy......
“We focus on the here and now,” says Fils-Aimé. “We’re not like other players in the space that might show a little bit of something that is going to be years in the making. It’s simply because we believe that in getting the fan base excited, we really want to satiate that excitement as soon as possible."
Dude, how good is that banana bread beer? So awesome. And hey, I bet the dick sucking was pretty nifty too.
What?! I thought for sure you of all people would pick up on the Maple Bacon Donut!
MAPLE!
BACON!
DONUT!
This was just a donut. A scrumptious, delectable, bacony, donut... Uhhhhhhmmmm donut!
This sounds disturbingly sexy when read out loud.
So Heroes of the Storm is pretty pimp. GG cries about having only a handful of people in here to play Splatoon with without realizing the barren desert I'm looking at makes his Splatoon experience look like CoD on day one.
I have no emotional attachment whatsoever to the Shenmue franchise, whatever its gaming legacy might be, I just hope the thousands of people in ecstasy about this offhanded E3 announcement aren't burnt to a crisp by the fires of economical realities and corporate assholishness.
