Well I'm back from my vacation! Huzzah and good ridance. The only thing that made the last couple of days barable was that we went to visit some cities, which is much more to my liking. Oh, and whoever envied me earlier on, we didn't travel abroad to some beach with palm trees or anything. We went to this:
Ugly places with ugly people. Mainly saggy grandparents with their annoying grandchildren. Nothing to do but to sit on your arse all day and wait till you can go to bed again and be done with it. I can enjoy this for like one hour a day max, and that's only because I've got a little kid who is enthousiastic about anything.
The up side was that I finally played more Mario golf World Tour. It's a perfect fit for the3DS, and while it seems very light on content at first, there is lots to do if you go looking for it.
Did you make an epic sandcastle?
My kid's idea of making sandcastles was filling the bucket, having me tip it over, and then him trashing the towers as fast as he could.
We made some epic ruins though
Nearing the big 3000 score in online Mario Kart, I was the big white elephant in the proverbial room with 11 underlings racing me.
And my experience was leading for lap 1, leading for lap 2, first in lap 3, then hit on the very last turn. About 3 or 4 times in a row, usually by multiple red or/and green shells. Then finishing 6th or so.
There is one thing I cannot stand in the online, when you are first and the game gifts the person behind you on the last turn/section of the track 3 red shells. So I'm up there in first with a shield and block one of these reds. Do I have any way of avoiding the other two? Nope.
So I deflect one, get hit once, then twice and lose my top position despite out racing everyone for the entire race. The game has essentially decided against you winning when it does that. Seriously when did this game become a triple item fest? And there should be a period where you are invunerable after taking a hit, it's literally ridiculous to be hit 6 times in a row.
Also there was some f-ed up stuff going on in one race. Yoshi was ahead of me, but not by much, he had no items (to speed boost or recover) I hit him once with the boomerang, he got hit, recoiled a little then just sped ahead like nothing had happened. Then I hit him again with the boomerang and exactly the same thing happened. I should have passed him and been a mile ahead after two of those.
That's the problem with kids, no appreciation for building a massive fort on the beach.
Get over it. I'm sure you don't complain when you bag first place right before the finish because you got a red shell yourself.
There is a level of chance to any kind of competition. With Mario Kart it's always played a slightly larger role. After 8 games you'd think everyone would know that by now.

It's got waaaay out of hand and it's not just 'chance'. The other games don't lavish every asswipe with 3x any item whenever they want.
I don't get anally reamed 6 times in row within 10 seconds in any other Mario Kart game. If you think that's the same as other Mario Karts you're off your rocker. Also I've gone entire races in first where the only item they give you is a coin, item after item, after item. Not even a banana?
I saw some fire hopping girl zooming ahead, pissed me off, but she came last in the end
@former: It's this sort of thing that makes me reluctant about going online. I'd literally break the controller. Even the 150CC races are too much for me to handle at the moment.
