'Titanfall was a pretty big miss for EA and Respawn' claims Forbes

EA’s decision not share concrete sales numbers for Titanfall in its recent financial report suggests the game missed expectations, Forbes has speculated.

All EA said of the game in its fiscal report was that it sold 950k physical copies in the US in its first three weeks. It did not reveal its lifetime sales or how the game performed digitally – which, presumably, was well owing to its availability on Origin for PC and Xbox Live for Xbox One.

Saying it’s “weird” that EA has kept quiet about Titanfall sales “while Sony celebrates far fewer copies moved for a game like Infamous: Second Son” Forbes reasons that “EA’s noticeable reluctance to release any information about sales of the game on their end indicates they’re hiding what would be a disappointing figure”.

Added the report: “VGChartz has Titanfall at 2.34m sales globally across PC, Xbox One and 360. Is that number right? Hopefully not, as they would be painfully low for a game with so much riding on it.

“All this data, or the lack of it, seems to point to a conclusion that Titanfall was something of a pretty big miss for EA and Respawn, despite almost universally positive reviews and word of mouth at launch.

“EA keeping these numbers a secret seems like a worse play than coming out and saying ‘We’re proud of Titanfall’s 3m sales to date (or whatever the number is), which is a great start for a brand new IP’. Instead, they’re treating what was supposed to be their new flagship game like they’re ashamed of it.

“Releasing no information at all makes everyone assume the worst. Unless the numbers are truly, truly disastrous (which I can’t imagine they are), staying silent seems like a worse move than embracing what millions the game has sold.”

Nintendo has announced it still expects Bayonetta 2 and Monolith Soft's X will both be released by the end of 2014.

As part of its financial results briefing for 2014, Nintendo has listed the upcoming games already confirmed for release on Wii U and 3DS this year and beyond.

Featured on the list are Platinum Games' Bayonetta 2 and Monolith's upcoming Wii U game, which most refer to as X but is still listed under the working title "A brand new title developed by Monolith Software Inc".

According to Nintendo, both games are due to be released not only in Japan this year, but North America and Europe too.

What do you think we would be controlling our games with. The majority of games don't use motion controls.

I think it was previously Europe only, now it's in the USA too.

To find new stuff I liked to open up a music stream like kawaiiradio and make a note of the tracks that stood out.  If anyone sounds particularly great, check out some other stuff from the same singer/band.
