Mario Kart info looks pretty damned good. Really looking forward to getting my hands on this. I traded in Sonic Transformed too early (mistakenly anticipating that MK would come out sooner than it did), so I'm definitely craving a new kart racer.
Depending on how desperate you are, you could always check out the digital re-release of that F1 cart racer on WiiU. It's currently marked down 50% to €12.50. I know I felt tempted. In the end I didn't buy it because of a lack of time to play it, and the knowledge that MK8 is almost upon us.
No I am not close to finishing. I started a Burial at Sea 1 run on 1999 mode. Its so good, I have no clue how anyone could not like the gameplay of Bioshock. I needed to refresh cause I dont remember I thing about Burial at Sea 1.
"If marketed properly, Mario Kart 8 could finally be the Wii U's golden mushroom Nintendo is so desperate for"
For Mario Kart haterz like vaderz the golden mushroom power up is a speed boost you could use multiple times, so much that so, you could zoom up many places in the race through its use. I've been reading a lot and most previews and/or gamers are saying this is a system seller and if this can't move Wii Us, nothing will. Depends on how much they market it IMO.
“We’re working with HD for the first time, and we really wanted to take advantage of that. The last console version was Mario Kart Wii, which was released in 2008, so it was about six years ago. And during those six years, we were able to incorporate a lot of technology in our development process, but especially on the graphics side. So we put a lot of effort into making this a good looking game–it’s a very pretty game.”
“This time with the power of the Wii U we really made an effort to keep that graphic quality high regardless of how many ways we were splitting the TV into.”
Yabuki also talking about the game’s graphics…
“We’ve also been able to show movement on the [karts and bikes] that we haven’t seen before. We’re seeing bounding, we’re seeing different parts of the kart move, we’re seeing dirt on the tires, we’re seeing skidmarks left on the course–again I think we’ve done a good job of utilizing that graphical power.”
“Using the power of the Wii U, we were able to create a Mario Kart title that feels right, and the controls feel like they’re perfect for this game.”
“We were able to harness the power of the Wii U to get a huge polygon count, and we were able to make courses that involved a lot of undulating, moving surfaces. We’ve also done a lot of work with the character animations. If you look at Mario and the Koopalings and all the characters, you’re seeing a level and range of animation that you’ve never seen before.”

Yeah I'm not that desperate. No need to get an inferior game when the gold standard is right around the corner.
And speaking of inferior games, Gamefly is shipping Wii U Party to me this week. Yay....

Vader is just scared. Mario Kart was the one and only game I've ever beaten him in (and pretty much the only game I've ever beaten anyone in for that matter).
Well. I've seen every Racer, every Kart, every Track and every Item from every possible angle from Mario Kart 8. Guess I can cancel my preorder now, there's nothing left to see. Thanks internetz!
I'll say it once again: I don't understand the hate for Lords of Shadow 2. It's pretty much a 3D, open-world Metroid-Vania starring Dracula. At times it's even gorgeous, rivaling some stuff I've seen on Next-Gen. I don't want to put on my tin-foil hat, but I just don't get it... There's got to be another reason for the hate other than the game itself. It's not half bad... Did Mercury Steam or Konami do something to piss off Website Editors or something...? I don't understand. In any other time this game would be considered "Great!" ...coming at the end of the generation with the next gen out already shouldn't cause as much back-lash as I've seen...
**Just wait 'til you see the fate of Carmilla! Suggestive much?!**
PS: If you can appreciate Blood Omen games, as mediocre as they were, you should definitely give Lords of Shadow 2 a try. It will satisfy your blood-lust nicely!
Blood Omen games were mediocre? You're a whore and you're dead to me now.
Yeah I thought the original Blood Omen was brilliant. The 2nd one was just OKAY but still well worth checking out. Blood Omen 1 and Soul Reaver 1 were by far the best games in the Kain series.

I'm very curious at how Amy Henning will shape the new SW.
I'm kind of disappointed honestly...I want Bioware on it. Or even Obsidian. This clearly isn't going to be an RPG with Visceral doing it. Likely an action game of some kind.

It's this, or back to the gas station! I will take out a loan in your name!
