Well I didnt see THAT coming. Cool twist in AC3. That said I can see what is wrong with this game, seems like a mess. I have seen more odd glitches than in past AC games. There was a horse chase that seemed to run at 10FPS. Hunting seems meh. Some of the locations have such bad draw distance that I feel I am in Silent Hill (which would make a fantastic AC location).

I have no clue what to think about AC games anymore. I entered the giant forest in the game and I was like WOW! Its beautiful, I just want to run around and assassinate bears! Yes you assassinate bears, how cool is that. But there isnt much to do in these forest outside killing poor animals.

Then I get back to the missions and its the same stuff you have been doing for 5 games. And yet it still doesnt bother me, fighting as poor as it is can still lead to cool moments. Evading guards is still exciting. And when a stealth missions works correctly (which is rare) its really fun. There is still that element of COLLECT EVERYTHING that hooks me no matter how mundane and stupid what I am collecting is. And its cool to see moments from the revolution.

So I like being in these worlds, I love these types of games but man is it messy. Remove all the open world fluff and pretend the missions were part of some linear action game it would be half broken. Here I am with sam adams trying to get into a printing press but two guards are in front. So I just run past them and open the door before they could react, this loads a cutscene. When the cutscene finishes the entire british army is waiting for me. Sam Adams continues to talk to me as if nothing is wrong, now I am running around but i cant stray from Adams who is fighting like 5 guys while still telling me the scripted story. Adams got cornered and there was no amount of evading I could do he had to be freed, so I had to jump in and kill everyone, then he finished telling me not to cause a ruckus even though  10 people are now dead in the middle of the street.

There have been also targets how get stuck inside a wall, magically spawning enemies, animals that get stuck in a running animation loop, terrible waypoints, and many more moments that have left me scratching my head.

And yet I am very much enjoying the game. I think its one of the situations where I just love the type of game and you really need to do something bad to screw it up for me. Same goes for any game that is Zelda like or Metroid like.

There is a SUPER-annoying Chocobo song in FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns. I just encountered it just before reading your Mortal Kombat post, Robio, and I feel the same way!

Oh c'mon! You should listen! At the very least, it's SOOO bad, it will make you laugh! I can't imagine being in a Metal band and having 'Crazy Chocobo' listed as one of the songs I'm 'famous' for! Hang your head in shame, Metal-Dude, hang your head in shame!

LOL I was going to talk about the heavy metal chocobo song in the review. Its so stupid. "Are we in hell, CHOCOBO!!!!"
