I would say no. Halo could have been a 10 - if it was actually completed at the time. Half Life 2 praise I just don't get, do you have to have played the first back when it released to fully appreciate HL2?

Agreed on Halo, but the poor ending and rushed levels are made up for in the essence of the game.

And on HL2, yes, had to be played at the time, because in retrospect it does not hold up. Which, in fariness, calls its 10 into question, because SMB3 is a 10 today as much as it was a 10 when it was released.
