Damn the Xbox one, it's too uncertain, too niggling. I feel like these tiny differences are leading to a slippery slope of my rights taken away and stupid requirements that annoy you. I cannot support this platform with my money, no matter how many great games it's going to get. As a consumer I also feel like publishers are wanting to punish me for being an avid gamer and I don't like the whole tracking/surveillance aspect of always online, always on Kinect watching you etc. And also, we learned out Titan, Respawns new game and it uses the cloud and that is required and will NOT work on some slower connections and when the cloud is long dead how will the game work? Crap if you want to keep and collect your games for many years.

I think I'm pretty much done with Konami as a company.

I agree about Konami.  If they did more 2D Castlevania (like the 6 GBA/DS ones not like the 3DS one), commissioned Contra 5, did new a new Gradius and/or something with their other shmup IPs etc I would care.  I don't see it somehow.

PES is still a cash cow I suppose and it's the reason why they are still in business.  MGS is more of a holy cow but I don't object to one of them being made every 5-6 years or so if they are good games.  Silent Hill hasn't been relevant in donkey's years and Castlevania Lords of Shadow was the worst game I tried playing this whole generation.

I don't know about you guys but what I've seen from Square/Konami/EA in their lists of E3 games has completely bored me. Even Square's new Deux EX is a iphone game.

This for real?  That's their list of games?  That's one conference I will most certainly not be watching.

Now we're pretty much aware of the Xbone DRM setup, and it's horrible. There's still no definitive word from Sony either way, but I think many of us agree that there has to be at least some form of DRM on the platform that will placate third parties.

That gets the conspiracy theorist in me wondering if the rampant hate parade that Western third parties have directed toward Wii U might have been an attempt to kill a system that didn't support their favored DRM measures.

We all know that EA has been both the most actively antagonistic toward Nintendo and one of the prime supporters of these DRM measures, but they are hardly the only ones who are being utterly dismissive of Nintendo's new system, which has DRM that is, frankly, last-gen.

I'm not suggesting that the DRM issue is the only issue that Wii U has. Nintendo and third parties have always had a rocky relationship. Still, the outright hostile attitude toward Wii U is pretty much unprecedented, and if Sony and MS both turn out to be supporting heavy DRM that prevents game lending and rentals and restricts used game sales, it would provide some retrospective understanding for why third parties have been so vocal and negative about Nintendo's new console.

Maybe we just need to see what Sony has cooked up before commenting, but I'd love to hear some responses...

A few of the editorials have mentioned how Sony have been suspiciously silent during this period and how they previously said that PS4 will have a used game block publishers can use if they want.

"At a roundtable this morning, Sony's game studios chief, Shuhei Yoshida, told reporters that any requirement for users to register a game online in order to play it would be left to game publishers. Sony won't require that."

So this is exactly the same as Microsoft saying: It's up to publishers.

This is speculation but I get the impression that MS and Sony had heavy involved consultations with publishers about what they wanted in a next gen console and the executives shouted back: "We want money from used games, or DRM" etc.

So Sony and MS might have been pandering to publishers instead of thinking about gamers swallowing a rather large pill.

It's also relevant to the tinfoil hat conspiracy theory about publishers trying to sideline Wii U with no DRM protection.
