Yeah what MS said weakens it for consumers but strengthens it for publishers. Everything they are doing helps "the man".
LL? The XL lowers the screen resolution to achieve a larger screen. BTW when you turn the 3d on it doubles the brightness of the screen so it looks even better than in 2d.
The heat is off Nintendo as far as the media goes... for at least a week or so. I doubt it'll really make a huge difference. If nothing else I'm glad we'll be seeing some different headlines for a while instead of "THE WII U IS DOOMED AND EVERYONE WHO BUYS ONE WILL GET HERPES!!!!!"
This is what I don't get, we know what games are coming, especially with Nintendo. But it's like we HAVE to see it with our eyes before we believe it. In the Wind Waker N.Direct they promised 2 zelda games, showed us Wind Waker screens, showed us an X-enoblade sequel - then promised a Fire Emblem vs SMT, a Mario platformer, Mario Kart and Smash Bros would be at e3.
We know Pikmin 3, Warioware and Wonderful 101 are out this year. We know that a mario 3d platformer will be out this year possibly with a new Mario Kart. We know about Deus Ex, Watch Dogs, Rayman, Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed 4, Bayonetta 2, Arkham Origins, Scribblenauts Unmasked, Sonic Lost World, Call of Duty Ghosts, Project Cars, Mario and Sonic + one more exclusive Sonic and even about a Zombi U 2 prototype being worked on.
We know EAD will make another Zelda and Retro will make another Metroid or DK game, we know Intelligent Systems will probably make another Paper Mario. For all the rehashing jibes Nintendo gets it at least consistently guarantees their output. It's 3rd parties that are the problem. From what we know, Wii U is solid with enough games out this year to carry you through to Spring next year. It's too bad that they'll be jammed into the end of the year rush - but this is what the lack of faith and planning with 3rd parties achieves - a drought. Gamers on message boards in general act like Nintendo should be able to totally make a system worth owning by themselves. Imagine if Microsoft had to make Xbox a success with only token support and MGStudios games? Fable, Forza, Halo, Kinect sports.... and?
Oh I know they are coming, I am just saying that doesnt excuse them for having the shittiest launch window in the history of launch windows.
I am not pretending, it is what it is. This system has had the worst launch I have ever seen. Like 5 good games does not cut it. There is a reason no one is buying the thing, cause it has no games. WHich is why I tell everyone to wait, a price drop will come far sooner than games will.
All launch windows suck....Wii U, PS3, X360, Wii, PS2, N64....every one of these sucked monkey balls.
All of those had many first party games, not two. Nothing like this. Wii had one of the greatest games ever made at launch. N64 launched with another legendary title. Within months of PS3 you had DMC4 and VF5. 360 had a fantastic launch. PS2, well it had GT3 a few months after.
But all of those had actual games coming out constantly. Not being delayed, canceled, postponed. Not one month where 3 games comes out and people act like its the second coming just cause its the only 3 games to come out on the console since launch (and they were good though two are old games).
GT3 a few months after? Wii U already has NFS. VF5? Wii U already has Tekken Tag. 360 had a great launch:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_launch#Titles
Look at that list. I could compare Wii Us launch games with any system in history and it's worse. It seems you would rather have 1 great game at launch rather than a decent selection of what (you would consider) lesser titles. I still remember the Xbox launch when I got DOA3, Halo and Max Payne- in retrospect the system lived off Halo for ageeeeees.
NFS is not GT3, please. And if I didnt buy it before on a console I already had its cause I never want to buy it. No one is going to buy the Wii U for a game they could get on a console they own. This is about a console having its OWN library that makes it worth owning. At this moment its pretty damn terrible. And I cant recall having seen such an empty release schedule for the first 10 months of a system. It took Nintendo from Nov till June to get another game out, and that game is Warioware... What company has no support for their console?
What notable Wii U game came out in January? In February? In April? In May (forgot Injustice, so it got one)? When have you ever seen a console not have ANYTHING for that many months. Not even ports came out in those months. Nintendo was clearly not ready for the Wii U to come out, it will almost be exactly a year before the games start rolling in. Whats June looking like, Wario? July??? August finally it comes alive with a normal release schedule. 8 months this year where you can probably count all notable retail releases on two hands.
This is not an insult at the good games it has, I am just saying the Wii U as of now and till August has and will be a disaster in terms of game library. This is not even some new level of tech where other game companies have to make entire new games to fit the system, they could have all the same ports PS3/360 is getting and they are not even getting that. The point is Nintendo deserves all the criticism its getting right now for simply having a console with little to no support. In no way is crapping on the amazing lack of steady games crapping on what games it does have.
Most of the Wii Us launch games were ports of old games. And yes I much rather have one legendary game that showcases the console than a few good ones that are fun but forgettable. That said you want your investment to continue to have games steadily but you still need the ONE to sell the console to the masses. Wii U still doesnt have that one game and it doesnt have a steady flow of games, it failed on both ends. Its also not really anything new so no one is buying it for shiny new graphics or anything like that.
When August hits it finally will have steady games and when Mario hits it will have that ONE. (And Smash will be TWO and Kart will be THREE)
Then why bring up Twilight Princess? Other than that carry on.
Twilight Princess was released on Wii first.
You could still buy it on a console you already own; it's still not the Wii's own library.
What part of it came out on wii first is hard to understand?
How does it differentiate the library when it's still a GameCube game (let's be honest), and it only came out early by what; a few weeks? It's hardly its own library if it's a port of a previous gen game, even if it predates the previous gen release by a week or two.
Do I seem like the kind of person that can wait two weeks to play a new Zelda?
Fair enough then.
Dark Souls is done, finally.
