It is a well known story for all the Demon's Crest fans! The minute I saw the negative percentage, I immediately thought of Demon's Crest. I actually mentenioned it here before!
Ah ok. You kind of killed the magic though.
I bought it a couple of days ago and im about four hours into it. This game is incredible
Listen to him, you will like it Edge.
What did you not like of the combat? I'm not expecting incredible combat...it came out in 1999. The top FPS's at that time were like Half-life, Goldeneye and Turok 2. But this game is more like Deus Ex I think....deeper in RPG areas.
I listened to the new Megadeth song....what the fuck Mustaine. Worst crap they have done since Risk in like....1998? This is baaad.
And they all have combat that is light years better than this game. The main reason being that SS2 actually uses hidden dice rolls to determine your actions. So if you shoot a gun right a things head it doesnt mean you did anything.
Cmon...you're bullshitting me.
I know that's what I was saying, such an epic dissappointment. Did you hear the new Sabbath song though? It is tiiiight.
SS2 is a lot like old school DS, except with awesome horror atmosphere. This game has ps1 levels graphics and has scared the shit out of me a few times now. It is a lot of fun to play too.
No read my edit. Its all governed by dice rolls. You can aim right at a head and it does nothing. Not to mention everything breaks on you after like 3 shots. So you end up with the wrench and you SLLLLOOOWWWLLY smack enemies with it over and over and over. The most bland, repetitive, slow, piece of garbage combat system I have ever experienced in a first person game. (I wont call it a FPS cause its not)
Holy shit...going from Last Light's visuals to Revelations' is hilarious.
Assasins Creed 3 gave me 4 massive loads yesterday.
Yeah I said it. I wanted to go from the Frontier to New York using fast travel. In other games that means point to somewhere on a map and endure 1 loading sequence. Instead the first loading sequence put me at the border of the frontier, then I had to walk an inch to get the next area to load. 2nd loading sequence done and I had to fast travel again, it put me at another frontier. Then I had to do a 4th loading sequence to actually get to New York. What kind of monkey shit is this?
Just as I said in the Not on Wii U thread. That's fine, if EA don't want to support it I will just buy other companies games. Looks like Ubisoft and Warner Bros just got more business.
It looks like that Origin kerfuffle was true, EA wanted Wii U to use Origin and thus freeze out other developers - Nintendo said no and now EA are blacklisting them.
Yeah I know, what is happening? Some guys in GAF said that switching your U to 720p solves any problems as it does in Batman. I have found that regardless of what TV you are using, 1080p or whatever the games look better with the system set to 720p anyway.
In the UK we do our own price cuts, the U retail price has been savaged here, you can get the basic model for £10 more than a new PS3/360. I think the rise will be pretty big but with all the negative nancys about the cloud of pervading lingering BS will persist. Nintendo have pretty much had to bear the full weight of the 3DS on their shoulders with their own software even though it has consistently sold more than DS for it's entire lifespan so far. I don't see U being any different. The problem is that publishers have been so short sighted 2 years ago that we are not seeing software now. And when and IF U picks up sales the software won't be ready for the market because everyone has pulled back.
At the start you can move in the opposite direction and backtrack to the outside of the ship. It's empty on normal difficulty but populated in infernal mode.
Galaxy sold 10.8 million so if there are 3.5 million Wii U owners logically you would expect at least doubling the userbase - especially when you consider that the two highest rated games of all time were Galaxy 1 and 2.
I haven't shrugged, just been patient, a months of north american sales should be balanced with yearly worldwide sales and really we should be patient till better games hit. I still remember the year that Wii sales were tracking low and the system was losing momentum. Then over the winter period it sold more than the rest of the year combined and came out on top of the years sales charts. Nintendo sales in general always spike at Christmas, as do everyone else but the bulk of their business last gen happened near Christmas.
I have no fears for U or Nintendo, I suspect 3rd party support will be shit but that is hardly anything new if you owned a Wii and saw 90% of multiplats not hit the system. It just looks worse now because the system is more powerful and can handle ports. It's basically the whole BS of developers using the Wii's power as an excuse now it's back to the same old demographics, 3rd parties don't sell jargon. The industry wants Nintendo to fail on some level otherwise they would support it - especially after the insane sales of Wii and DS last gen. What's more interesting is that Nintendo can make more profit on 18 million GCs (EDIT- plus a succesful handheld) than Sony could make on over 100 million PS2s. Nintendo will be fine regardless of NPD.
Look at EA's Wii support here: http://www.ea.com/uk/wii
Crappy versions of NFS, Family Game Night, FIFA and Madden, Rock Band 3, EA Sports Active, My Sims, NBA Jam, Littlelest Pet shop friends, Spore Hero, Grand Slam Tennis, Celebrity Sports showdown, SSX Blur port.
Basically the only good games they did on Wii were:
So you had an on rails game and two niche puzzler's.
Now look at the entirety of EA's Wii U lineup
They've already done better, even if they stop making games now.
This is the big problem and what seems to be happening anyway. It seems developers and publishers frozen out from Wii's success are wary, or have a chip on their shoulder about supporting U. Or they've scaled up for PC/PS3/360 and are unwilling to expand for a fourth sku, Dave Cox and Naughty Dog basically said this, "not enough bandwidth, not enough staff, not enough office space."
What blows my mind more is that I posted about EA's Blacklisting and Frostbite support in the Not on Wii U thread and no one commented there, except Bugs.
Games TM mag reviews
Lots of older games use systems like that. That doesn't bother me. As long as the atmosphere, story, and everythig else is top notch.
Really? 720p? I will have to try that. I have it set to 1080p but it seems fine to me.
Look at those fucking BOOTS!!! Those Timberlands are fucking slick looking! Like just off the shelf at Bob's slick looking.
I'll laugh my ass off if the other consoles struggle too, but it doesn't matter, 3rd parties will support them regardless like how PS3 got the benefit of the doubt in it's early life. Everyone is contracting at the moment, lumping all their eggs into one basket. It's going to be monumental when someone sinks too much money into a game that fails.
On the 720p thing, that is the native resolution of pretty much all Wii U games so far, when you run your U in 1080p it's just upscaling it. Your TV upscales the picture from 720p anyway and usually does it better. Running the system in 720p also means it's not going to use resources for the upscale. Some people have found that with Batman AC for instance at 1080p it has performance problems, in 720p, no problems. What I found, purely form a jaggies perspective, in NFS and AC3 720p gives you minor improvements, less aliasing.
