The latest SimCity patch is column writing gold. Here are some of the fixes:

• The amount of happiness gained from low taxes, police, fire, and health outreach has been lowered.
• Fixed some cases where buildings would not go abandoned when they should have.
• Higher density residential buildings are no longer blocked from going abandoned due to not having enough money.
• Happiness from low taxes does not double up every time it is given.
• Losing happiness due to not having a job is more impactful.

NST game, unproven record and the game wasn't good enough to be completed. Disaster had an epically disastrous development period where halfway through they lost there way and Nintendo had to step in and bring everything together but they turned the game into a giant crazy ass grab bag of insanity and hilariousness when the game had the right atmosphere to be an Uncharted like epic action game.

But as I'm saying, Nintendo basically has 4 studios capable of making these AAA action adventures and they take so bloody long to make them 4-5 years that if you were to get the Zelda team for instance to make something other than Zelda, that would take 4 years, then they start a new Zelda and that takes 4 years. So you then go 8 years, which is almost two generations (5 year console lifecyle) without a Zelda game and Zelda becomes an irrelevant franchise.

Sort of like F-Zero and Starfox have become neglected IPs. So the question becomes are you willing to drop Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Xenoblade for something else and for how long? And the question for Nintendo, given the strong sales of some of those franchises is: are they are leaving money and a fanbase, flapping in the wind?

Some expectations are too out there, a horror game for instance - Nintendo are the Disney of gaming when Disney was still good. They may not make a horror game but they did buy Fatal Frame exclusivity. They may not make DMC but they did commision Bayonetta 2. They may not make a sandbox game but they did publish Lego City.

As I see it, Nintendo are an anachronistic company, they are unwilling to invest and expand their studios. Everyone else scaled up for the HD era, Nintendo is still under the impression that it can make Wii U games with the same sized teams that did Wii games - that's what they are like. They pretty much ditched the 2nd party systems because of cost and because third parties complained about 2nd party + first party leaving no room for 3rd parties.

Retro has in fact made one FPSer, and putting aside expectations, I'd say it could be considered "great".

I think Disney has the rights to Turok currently.

I would love to see Battalion Wars on the Wii U; My idea is have it 3rd person controls like normal but have the Touchscreen be used to control the other units in my army.

So that new Mikami game looks cool even though I can't really figure out what the fuck its supposed to be doing or what the plot is or anything. Looks like it may be going for the vibe of old school Resident Evil but with the camera and control of RE4?
