Forgot about Boos LOL. I meant lack of the mushroom kingdom and mario tropes. There is the occasional reference but its virtually all specific ghosthouse not mariohouse.
I just checked out the Gamespot 6.5 review, it only had three criticisms, two of which I thought were odd.
1. There are no mid-level checkpoints and you have to redo stuff because of it. Like I said before you have to complete the level you are on because it doesn't save. But most missions are like 13-25 minutes long so this tells me the reviewer was quitting to do something else then returning and finding they had to redo the stage from the start. Or that this reviewer was so terrible she kept getting killed? Which is baffling as the game is not in any way difficult.
2. You can't rotate the poltergust fully which makes zapping ghosts hard? I don't get this, the rooms are usually so small and you can charge the torch for a wide angle shot. I just put my back against a wall and charge up a wide shot and it hits everything close to me easily.
3. One particular section with lots of ghosts - I haven't been here yet.
I do not have an XL for the same reason as you. I can't justify purchasing one since I have a 3DS. I wish I have one because when I play in bed, my hand cramps.
I love it when lightning flashes and when you point luigi towards the screen and get lens flare.
Also the 3D adds something to the game that you wouldn't feel playing in 2D. I've tried turning the 3D off to test it. In 3D you get this dolls house effect like you've cut your little sisters dollhouse in half and are looking right into it.
"Among this game's virtues is some of the finest animation you've ever seen in a video game. The care lavished on Luigi himself is astonishing. Every movement will make you smile, from his pot-bellied scamper when you hold down the run button to his tiptoed ghost-hunting stance, or the elaborate Stan Laurel set-ups for each scripted pratfall. The sound is magnificent too: Charles Martinet, long-time voice of both the Bros., outdoes himself with a classic comic performance. He offers dozens of variations on wordless, nervous, nasal ineptitude and hums tremulously along with the catchy Scooby-Doo tunes" - Eurogamer
I would like to try one in action before thinking about getting one. I am quite sensitive to resolution and frame rate differences.
BTW visually my favourite room in the game is the corridor from the entrance in the first mansion.
The 3D effect there moving forward.
DVader was talking about that. Calling it the "diorama effect". Sounds so awesome. Really looking forward to it

Anyone else checked out the Fire Emblem 3DS demo yet? I DL it but haven't had the time to try it. Vader loved it right?

I can see their feet they are really thin but that is just the style choice. I had to download the game because I couldn't find it in stores so I just downloaded it through the eShop.

The game looks incredible, just an absolutely marvelous looking platformer.
Wow, that does look good.
