Spec Ops...when does it get good? Almost halfway through, and it's getting progressively worse (starting level was mediocre). Maybe it's just because I'm playing on suicide, which appears to refer to the literal actions of the AI? Well, it's not just that. That helicopter thing is genuinely one of the worst things I've played through. What. the. fuck. Also took the vaguely subversive music and turned it into self-parody as well.
It's also a horrible (slight exaggeration) PC port.
Alpha Omega Sin blasting Square for blaming Eidos games on their misfortune.....this guy just speaks truth. I need to start a band with him:
That dude has a podcast with a guy named Razor Fist. That is amazing.
Francis covered more ground, went into more detail, and was more charismatic in under 5 minutes than that guy. Don't hate the guy, but his shtick outstays its welcome in 2 minutes, not 20.
Hmmm. Suicide eh? Probably not the best way to judge a game there old chap. Pip Pip!

"Well, whether it's Fire Emblem or Advance Wars, we never want to put an end to any series we're involved with. We always want to make games that provide a lot of fun to gamers, so if we have the chance, we'd certainly like to make another [Advance Wars] title."
Pretty vague, but it would be natural to think that is what Intelligent Systems is working on. As much as us type of people enjoy Advance Wars do they sell well? Or is it a SMGalaxy type thing?
It's a difficulty in the game, if it sucks then it's the game's fault.
But apart from the stupid AI, and that absolutely horribly designed scene (which would be shit on any difficulty, and YouTube is proof that it is) it's been incredibly easy. It would an insufferable bore on a lower difficulty, I think. I'll take the occasional frustration over not being engaged. But is something coming story/theme-wise? So far it just feels like any other third person shooter (solid production values, don't get me wrong) except that you're [SPOILER] killing Americans as well as Arabs. [END SPOILER] Please tell me this isn't the hook of the whole thing... Also, the sniper rifle feels less powerful than the pistol. I shot someone in the heart, and their hat blew off; they were uninjured. I hope that was due to bullet trajectory being affected by the wind. Otherwise what the fuck. Give me some hope, man!
Also pooray to you for ignoring the question!
Well, only me and Leo have finished it I think. So that's a 50% response rate. Actually GME finished it too.
Keep playing and stop being such a negative nelly.
I'll take that as a no, then.
(You don't need to go into detail, obviously. I wouldn't want you to either.)
Also, saying it's bad because of the difficulty is equivelent to saying the game is bad because it's bad. You should be telling that to the developers, not to me.
P.S.
You're forgetting Yarcofin...or one of those obscure Canadians that post every now and then. But the issue is with the content of the response, not the response rate.
All I am saying is playing a game on the first go on a difficulty other than that which is suggested by the developer may cause you to find the game in a different light.
I see what you are saying though, if the game is that different on a higher level, maybe don;t expose that option until it has been beaten on the suggested level.
Even so, it's an odd complaint, it's like complaining that using a higher gear on a bicycle going up hills sucks (when there are other gears readily available).
(if you want to discuss it deeper go to the thread for it so we can find it again later).
Yeah, but my only comment on the difficulty was that it was too easy. So actually it would be better if FUBAR was unlocked at the start.
I was complaining about the AI and that abysmal helicopter scene, both of which would be bad on any difficulty level. And I can probably imagine what it would be like on a lower level of difficulty as for the first four chapters the AI was literally invincible. They could take full magazines to the head and be fine. It sucked because what was the point of having them there apart from the banter? Now they wander out of cover (on their own volition btw, not my command) and die instantly. But by the same token, sometimes they'll stand around getting shot for 5 seconds and be fine. It's just bizarre.
That is bizarre. I found Ai to be consistent. Not consistently great, but consistent throughout.
Yeah, it's odd. Chapter 4 or 5 started, and suddenly the shit hit the fan with the AI. The game changed completely.
Also something positive: the part where you get separated from your squaddies for a moment was great. Not just because I was free of them (
) but also because the fight by myself was intense enough that their arrival was actually something of a relief. Was a nice change of pace. The contrast between the desert and the opulent interiors is cool, too.
The gameplay is mediocre at best (and that's all it will ever be) but the experience of the game makes it worth the playthrough. Try to stick it through to the end, especially since you are halfway done.
Don't worry, I finished The Ship. This will be a piece of cake.
GG and Leo, how far are you in Luigi's Mansion 2? I'm in the mining area....so good. This game continues to amaze me with its cleverness.
Possibility of new Advance Wars has me very excited. I love the series very much (with the exception of Days of Ruin/Dark Days)
