The main characters name is Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3. Edward is known as a Privateer, Assassin and occasional pirate. The games location is set in the Caribbean on multiple island including Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas.

The current game is running on the Xbox 360, but has plans for next generation console's as well.

Man, Call of Duty and Wii really came out of nowhere and dominated sales over this past generation.

As much as I like the fact that Take 2 didn't milk the shit out of Grand Theft Auto...they really missed the money boat by only releasing 1 GTA this entire generation. They had the biggest franchise going into it.

Assassin’s Creed III’s creative director Alex Hutchinson  first impressions of PS4.:

The hardware also has more grunt, which is always exciting, but also has the potential to make development more expensive although I don’t think it’s as big a jump as the previous generation. These days we’re usually building high resolution assets and then creating simpler versions for different platforms or different LODs. But it will push up the fidelity of the top end of the industry again, which will make it harder again for smaller or medium sized studios to compete: it’s a continuation of the arms race we’ve been in at the triple-A level for a while now, where blockbusters keep getting bigger, and continue to compress sales in a smaller segment at the top end.

For smaller studios or teams hopefully the fact that the kit is easier to use, has a tremendous amount of power, and is a lot closer to a traditional PC, which should allow them to develop more easily and more cheaply. I also think the sharing features will also be huge for smaller devs trying to get exposure outside of the traditional marketing model.

Q:  How significant is this leap forward?

AH: It’s an interesting time for the business: there’s no real gimmick feature to latch onto, the controller is basically the same and I don’t see much point in the touch pad on it, but there are improvements for connectivity and portability as I said, but overall there are no cheap wins for developers. I think this is really significant, because it puts all the stress on the success or failure of this generation on the software, which is where it needs to be. We need to work through the hard problems of broadening the audience and the type of content we can create, without radical changes in hardware forcing us to rebuild the basics of game-making, and without being able to rely on shinier graphics or 3D TVs. So I think it’s conceptually significant, although at first glance it looks smaller than perhaps previous transitions appeared.

I truly believe that players are going to buy games based on the content they’re offering more than visuals or technical features. What is your core fantasy? How strong is the emotional hook in your game? What are you allowing people to do that they’ve never done before, or how can you take an emotion people already like to the next level? The answers to these kinds of questions will dictate the winners of this generation, not just who can push more polys around the screen, or who can create better lighting.

Smart man..now stop miling the shit out of Assassins Creed!

That list is so depressing that we went from GTA dominating to CoD, also Halo is better than CoD. What a step back. Madden got replaced with Nintendo games so that is ok.

Why AC4? Why do the numbered thing if its going to be a part of the story to AC3? That is stupid, save AC4 for when you have a real jump in gameplay.

Eurogamer on Lego City Stories:

The Lego series has always had a sharp edge of parody, but freed from specific franchises Lego City Undercover is like a kid in a sweet shop, plucking references and spoofs from across the pop culture spectrum. There's a cutscene that riffs on Goodfellas with pinpoint accuracy, while one level takes The Shawshank Redemption as its starting point. The Lego City police station, meanwhile, counts Lego versions of Starsky and Hutch, Dirty Harry, Columbo and even Sherlock Holmes among its employees.

The city itself matches the game for sheer scale, a shimmering and inviting place, with generous draw distances and silky smooth visuals. It's a gorgeous and massive game.

It's also an incredibly funny game, with Graham's previous career as a stand-up comedian put to good use in a script that finds a gag in every scenario. Not for nothing has the game attracted vocal turns from cult funny men like Adam Buxton and Peter Serafinowicz.

The result is a game that contains all the hallmarks that have made the Lego games so popular, with comfortably familiar mechanics and gameplay systems, but the canvas is much broader and feels subtly different. The Wii U game pad is used shrewdly, doubling as map screen, communicator and detective gadget as the situation demands. In one of the most impressive features, you can hold it up and scan a real time wireframe version of the city, not just on the screen but for a full 360 degrees around you.

Unlike the rapid fire turnaround required by the other, more time sensitive, Lego titles over at TT's other studio, Undercover has enjoyed a slow and steady three-year development period.

By 2011, the game was taking its current shape. "That's when Nintendo came to see us," Loz recalls. "They brought the Wii U with them, with the new game pad. We could instantly see it was a perfect match. All the design guys were like 'Oh my god, the things we can do with this'. It just seemed to fit perfectly."

"We're obviously really pleased with the game. If it wasn't very good then we'd probably feel under pressure, but it's our best Lego game and that's really saying something. We're really chuffed. It's the best game on the Wii U."
There's not much competition for that accolade at the moment, but don't be surprised if that boast still rings true in five years time.

I've gone over 90 hours on my save file on Ni No Kuni.  The endgame stuff can be fun.  There's a lot of bounty hunts some of which eventually ask you to fight stronger versions of most of the game bosses etc.  I enjoy those.  The game has become a time sink though so I need to start thinking about wrapping up my time with it.

Oh, one more thing ...

As Bugsie said not too long ago, you KNOW a game is good when you find yourself thinking about it throughout the day and counting down the hours and minutes 'til you can play it again. That's me with Fire Emblem! I went to bed last night mulling over what class I was going to change the character Donnel into. He's a special case because you recruit him as an ordinary Villager and need to nurture him to the point where he can survive in a battle, let alone fight! He comes to your aid reluctantly when his village is attacked by Thieves and Chrom takes him under his wing. The conditions you need to fulfill to recruit him are pretty challenging, so if you take the time to earn him, you're going to want to try and keep him. I went to bed with him on my mind, and woke up having made a decision. I told myself I was going to wait until I took a break for lunch so I could appreciate his promotion and savor the moment he went from being an ordinary guy to being a hero. I started counting down the minutes to lunch at that point. (This was 5:45AM).

Lunch happened at 2PM and the first thing I did was give the Master Seal to Donnel. I was beaming in Starbucks; people must have thought I was nuts!

The next battle I played had Donnel in the line-up and he performed even better than I had hoped for. I had been pairing him often with a girl that can transform into a dragon because the interactions they have with each other are BEYOND adorable! So, when I went into the 'Support' screen after the battle to see Donnel's and Nowi's conversation, I was thrilled to see their relationship had grown even stronger.

I then went into the conversation between Axe-Fighter Vaike (awesome character!) and the Princess, Lissa... He was stuttering and acting nervous and was asking if Lissa knew where Chrom was... Turns out he was looking to ask Chrom for Lissa's hand in MARRIAGE! He proposed to her then and there and I --SWEAR-- I must have let out a sigh like a heart-sick girl at that point because I couldn't have been more pleased! I was excited by Donnel but Lissa and Vaike stole the show! ...and my heart! **tee-hee!** <3

I completely abandoned the Story at that point to start fighting Battles exclusively with "Couples" I wanted to see get together...

...Isn't that just NUTS?! What essentially is a Turned-Based strategy game became a Dating Sim in the span of an hour, and I was LOVING. EVERY. MINUTE. OF. IT! So many emotions ran through me while playing, the game had me so enthralled... I felt like I wanted to talk to someone about everything that had just happened as if it were real... If fictional characters can bring about such a response, can you imagine how that speaks to JUST how good and well-designed this game is?!

This is very quickly becoming one of my favorite games OF ALL TIME, and I can completely appreciate and relate to what Bugsie was saying about Ni No Kuni last week too!

Understand too, this interaction between Vaike and Lissa is not a Story-Determined, Inevitable thing... This is something that occurred as a result of how ---I--- was playing the game. Vaike can end up with any woman, Lissa with any Man (except her brother, Chrom)... They can and will have children as a result too. That they got together, how they got together and my response to their becoming a Couple, the way in which the games becomes so Personalized... ALL contribute to the many reasons WHY this is going to go down in history as the --BEST-- Fire Emblem yet, and one HELL of a great game too!

_________

Edit: Just as another side-note, I picked up Etrian Odyssey before I sat down for lunch. I was excited to get it --BUT-- it didn't even get a second glance thanks to FE. This game is going to be in my 3DS for a long, long time!
