So it seems that because Durango is dedicating a lot to its operating system PS4 for pure gaming will have more juice to use. Durango is going to use 3 CPU cores and 3 GB of RAM just for the OS? PS4 will have half as much RAM as Durango but it will be faster RAM and Durango is going to use 3gb for the OS anyway. But then even though Durango will be using slower RAM like Wii U's it might use a similar setup using eDRAM as a faster bridge.
Those 8 cores they are boasting in these machines are so misleading. They may have 8 cores, but its not as if they're going to be double what a cuad core will do in a PC. We're talking 8 stripped down, low power cores. Cheap and efficient.
Seems they are slower more power efficient cores. And they put more of them in there rather than 4 highly clocked cores.
All these machines are going to be relatively equal after it all pans out & the smoke & mirrors tech stuff dies down. But why do they need so much for the OS? That's bizarre. I hope its not for advertisements.
I quite like the idea that they will be making a console with more features other than just gaming. Kinect is going to be a lot more advanced, there are some PC devices which are already beyond Kinect. You still wont be able to have a stick or buttons but it should be able to sense depth and finger movements. Someone on GAF said that if you want to use Durango as a DVR you need a lot of RAM dedicated to that?
I will not be satisfied until I am throwing grenades simply with the power of my MIND in Halo 5.
If you're asking for me to show you a game that takes advantage of Wii U's larger RAM (which is a completely different issue) than the RAM speed or bandwidth I was talking about:
I can't because of this^ most games have been made with 360/PS3 in mind and ported over. Only Trine 2 the Goblin Menance and probably Aliens Colonial Marines will show the benefits so far. And Rayman Legends, given what Ancel has said about the memory. Compare Legends to Origins. I think Darksiders 2 had a marginally better draw distance in the Wii U version, that's what gamesradar said. Also Shinen used the memory to load the whole game into the RAM and completely eliminate loading times in Nano Assault Neo.
With Kinect 2 it will be much easier to use, seamless almost.
Bear, Edge
They need to add 2 more titles to the U graph too.
Consoles are FOR GAMING imo. The more you move away from that, the more pointless it is to have one when you can get a PC that will do those things better, faster, cheaper.
All the stupid shit they have on xbox now is superflous bullshit. Console is put game in play.
Nonsense and danderwash!
But people want something they can put under their tv that isn't too big. Sure you could plug your desktop tower into your tv but then do what, use a wireless mouse and keyboard? Most people would object to that and they want to plug and play too.
I could have used my laptop for netflix but that would mean connecting it to the tv and leaving it running everytime. With Wii U I just turn on the pad and select what I want, its always connected and it draws less power than many laptops too and displays in full screen on and HDTV with a wireless touch screen interface. It's easy to use the web browser too, it launches in about 5-10 seconds and is preferable than PC when you want a quick perusal. I like these features, they are part of what makes the system enjoyable to use, along with the off screen play. I guess it depends on if the new features are good or not with regards to other functionality.
SERIES FINALE OF FRINGE TONIGHT!!
No more Walter. No more Peter. No more Astrid. No more Olivia...
...no more fapping to Anna Torv, wondering why I am fapping to Anna Torv cuz she's not a dude... but she really can work a pai of long-johns, eh...?
What was I talking about again?
Oh!
GOODBYE FRINGE!!
! ! !
Finale is from 8 to 10, so probably no gaming, no... Tomorrow, though, definitely!
Fringe will be missed!
I created another account just to say I fancy Anna Torv.
Finished DmC, really fantastic title, easily the best NT game ever. It never reaches the highs of the other DMC games but it is consitantly great. It is so close to being on their level, the bosses is what really hurt it for me. Anyway now I am playing SoS mode and am dying all over the place. Much better mix of enemies this time which allows you to really sink your teeth into the combat. Fans of this genre just buy the game.
Well, I've had my 3DS for four days now, and I'm already done with the 3D gimmick. It was neat, but got old quick; 2D mode is better for battery life anyway.
The only minor complaint I have with the 3DS XL so far is the weight. It gets damned heavy after a while. Not a big deal, but still annoying.
