I'm a little indifferent towards Halo.  I guess it stems from my fanboy days when the Xboxand GameCube launched within days of each other.  I was bound and determined to claim that Luigi's Mansion was the better launch game.  I even tried I wipe the slate clean and start again when I bought Anniversary last year.  The most enjoyment that I got out of that one was the few online matches that I had with Steel.  I don't think I even completed Anniversary.  I've finished 1,2,and 3 and will surely finish 4,but it just isn't as exciting of a series as it should be to me.  Blame Luigi's Mansion. Halo 2 was the whole reason I ever got an Xbox. I wasn't too interested when Microsoft got into the console business so I didn't bother with the first game but remember reading in magazines about how awestruck every one was with the game. I was content with my PS2 and all the games that weren't FPS at the time. By time Halo 2 was nearing release I kept hearing all the buzz about it plus the Xbox seemed to be getting a better library then I had expected so I "jumped in" and picked up the system about a week or two before Halo 2 released, I was very impressed and have loved the franchise ever since. I'm very excited for Halo 4 because it marks the return of Master Chief and the beginning of a new trilogy.

The videogame industry truly interests me sometimes, it leaves me wondering just how many times people are going to buy the same game over and over. As long as you're having fun that's what matters. But considering this is more like Halo 7 or 8 it gets harder to be interested in the big franchises. For me anyways.

For me I don't get why people say that others are buying the same game over and over. Each Halo game is a new experience for me. Each game is a continuation of an overall and growing story. Each game adds to an evolving multiplayer experience. I don't hold my games to radically change things up when it comes to gameplay for each subsequent game.

Well when they are this awesome who cares how many there are. The more the better..

Plus this one seems to add a few good tweaks that can really help the stale factor

I'm hyped for Halo 4 because I still find the Halo series to be some of the most charming, fun FPS's out there. And Halo 4 being made by a new group seems to have just enough freshness to keep it going. While I think they should slow down on the Halo releases next-generation as there's no need for a new one every few years anymore, I still hope they keep the franchise going.

I started playing Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands last night, has anyone here played it?

So far I'm having a much better time with this game than I did with the snoozefest that was the cel-shaded game. The game is high quality, but its funny because it basically copies Sands of Time so closely that it feels like a game from 10 years ago. The whole intro of the game is almost like a Sands remake, honestly. Everything about the game is structured the EXACT same way as SOT. The only differences are the graphics quality obviously, and the controls aren't as loose as the older Persia games. Combat still isn't incredible, but its better. And so far the pacing of the story is really good, keeps you constantly hooked to see what's coming next.

I recommend it to anyone who likes the Persia games of the Cube/Xbox days.

Halo 2's online was revolutionary and one of the greatest online games of all time, that alone made it a great game. But the campaign was a travesty

Yeah whenever I talk about a game and this especially goes for shooters, I am only talking about the single player campaign. Halo and COD has a huge online component I don't partake in. Halo 2 was all right, but massively overated at the time and thus the backlash. It's not that it was actually bad.

As I said I don't factor in the multiplayer. For Halo is hard to appreciate change in the franchise because of the setting and art style. At first I really liked it but it's soooo rigidly defined by the first game that it seems like a pastiche now. It's art is like the simple clean day-glo colour lines from TRON in a realistic setting and it just doesn't leave any room for deviation from that. You have your green muscle suit and then aliens with all pink and purple. Then the enviroments are either Halo 1 style planets with green rockery, mountain backgrounds or a bland generic take on Aliens human ships/space stations. Or the TRON style inside alien ships. It all looks the same and the gameplay, though great is a circular, repeat of itself throughout the whole game so it relies on setpieces. Some are fantasitc, others dull or repeat themselves.

For me, Halo is hard to see variation in. I would like to see a radically different Halo, maybe inject some more humour into it. Time travel perhaps....

VG24/7 said:

Multiple sources have confirmed to VG247 today that a new version of the Orbis kit is now shipping to developers, and that it’s housed in a normal PC case.

There are to be four versions of the dev kit, we were told. A previous version was essentially just a graphics card. The version shipping now is a “modified PC,” and the third version, appearing in January, will be close to final spec. A final version will be delivered to developers “next summer”.

Some US developers attended a “disclosure meeting” at Sony’s offices this week, with a further meeting to take place in the coming weeks. The purpose of the meeting is for Sony to tell studios what the machine is designed to do, to detail hardware and to show a set of presentations.

Our source told us that Sony is only calling the machine Orbis, and is not using the words “PlayStation 4″ in these meetings at all.

Orbis, we were told today, is based on the AMD’s A10 APU series. An APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) is a combined CPU and GPU.

PS4′s APU was described today as a “derivative” of existing A10 hardware. The hardware is “based on A10 system and base platform”.

The “ultimate goal” for the hardware, we were told, is for it to be able to run 1080p60 games in 3D with “no problem,” to create a machine that’s powerful enough for “today and tomorrow’s market”.

The dev kits have “either 8Gb or 16Gb of RAM. Deduce from that what you will.”

The hardware is not being made in Japan, it was said.

When asked if PS4 will have an optical drive, specifically Blu-ray, our source responded: “Of course it has.” We’ve been told the hard drive will be 256Gb “as standard,” but it’s not clear if it’ll be a normal HDD or a solid state drive.

We were told that Sony’s aim with Orbis is to avoid problems involved in launching PS3 by creating something “very affordable” but that “isn’t a slouch”.

The machine has WiFi and Ethernet connectivity and HDMI out. Our source said the was “no difference” between PlayStation 3 and Orbis input/output.

The UI, however, has been revamped. It was said today that players will now be able to press the PS button mid-game and travel “anywhere” on the system. An example given was buying DLC from the PS Store mid-game then seamlessly returning to play.

“They’re trying to make it as fluid as possible,” our source said.

We were also told that the machine will be designed to accept system and product updates in the background, and that it’ll “always be in standby mode”. When you set the console up, we were told, you’ll be asked if you want to allow background downloads. You can, of course, disallow them.

No details have been given on the pad as yet. Confirmation is expected this month.

Orbis is expected to be announced at an event “just before E3″ next year.

GAF is getting all nostalgic over Disaster Day of Crisis.

Check it out.

Hopefully this game is released on the Wii U Eshop for you Americans to try out. It's hilarious.

Weird, GAF is saying the "best" A10-5800K has a Northern Island HD 7660D GPU which is able to run COD Modern Warfare 3 1080p at 30-45FPS (no AA/AF, min. details) "but don't know if it pulls that off with 3D."

If it can't get MW3 in 60 FPS normally how will it be able to get "1080p 60 games in 3D with “no problem"?

The new Epic Mickey 2 trailer looks nice in HD (click the cog) the art pops and the frame rate is super smooth.
