Well, Rayman Legends is 2D and looks good with the Epic rendering engine. I guess the NSMB team is more about gameplay and level design.
Could it be Killer Freaks? I think the protagonist was english last year and it may have been set in Britain too.
It could be a real game, did you see this screen? It has the button marked on screen as ZR, right trigger, essentially.
Also, why would a Japanese company presumably get an american media company to do a zombie promo only for said company to come up with such a cheesy off the cuff concept as Beefeater zombies in London? That alone makes me think that it's either a British developed actual game or a French one taking the piss. Also they went to extremes to only show less than 1 second flashes of what was on screen, suggesting that it's a real game they want to show off on Tuesday.

The screen is bigger, that is always a plus and will be better for touch screen only games or tablet style games, it it has been made more omfortable to hold with the back wings:
The buttons are larger, d-pad is twice the size, it has proper sticks, the placement is better. Looks really good.
The menu looks nice but annoying to me.
I don't want to have to drift about the screen like searching for a mii on 3DS to find what I need.

Analogue stick still in the wrong place, but otherwise looks good.
