I'm quite conflicted on the trailer.

Leon is designer stubbled emo now. Chris' gameplay really puts me off, they've made it like any other western action game, looks too fast paced and flashy for the sake of it. Young wesker beat em up bits? Ehh.

It just looks off to me. Like DMC it puts me off with all the faff and pomp.

I think it looks alot more "resident evil" than RE5 did, but I also think they're trying too hard to give mainstream gamers what they think they want, instead of just making a great RE game like Mikami's old teams knew how to do.

Also, Leon needs a cooler jacket. The black leather does not look as cool as any of the outfits in RE4.

To me the trailer with it's 3 sections with different characters, makes it looks hectic, chaotic and just like an action game rather than a survival horror.

That Resident Evil 6 write-up sounds awesome. That's a lot of people working on the game. I think I'm really going to enjoy playing from a few different protagonist's perspectives. It's very cool to have zombies back.

Correct, and correct me if I am wrong, but the book never describes Sauron as a flaming eye.

Correct, because that would be utterly stupid. There is really no reason to depict Sauron like that and it takes away from the metaphor..

IGN: The Sublime Insanity of Kid Icarus Uprising

IGN said:
We've had a chance to play a version of the game that is effectively complete. To say this more polished version is more impressive is an understatement. Despite a few nagging issues, the return of Pit just might signal the arrival of a potent new Nintendo franchise.
We've been making a great deal of noise about Resident Evil Revelations and how it sets the benchmark for 3DS graphics. That's probably still true at this point, but there's little doubt now that Kid Icarus Uprising will give Revelations a run for its money, albeit in a very different way. This game is breathtaking, both in its action-packed ambition and world design.

Uprising is fast, colorful and dazzling. The environments are diverse, the enemies bizarre, and the speed at which you move through a level can truly be breakneck at times. Part on-rails shooter, part ground-based action game, Uprising concerns itself with only one thing - putting a lot of bad guys on your screen, then having them shoot at you and forcing you to deal with the ensuing chaos.
On-screen action aside, Pit controls incredibly well, both in the air and on the ground. Basic movement is done with the circle pad, while using the stylus on the touch screen will aim Pit's reticule on the top screen. The D-pad is used to scroll through a limited set of special powers (allowing players to heal their character or activate a wing-powered jump), while the L button executes attacks.

Uprising's combat is surprisingly complex, allowing for a variety of different attacks that are also greatly affected by the many weapon classes in the game. Pit always has access to long and short range combat options, though the effectiveness of those attacks is again affected by the arms at hand.

The pacing of the game is one of its biggest assets, but can also undermine it at times. Without a doubt, having calm skies or serene landscapes turn into all battlefields is thrilling. Yet there are moments where you'll struggle to understand what the heck is happening, as beams, blasts and everything else imaginable flashes across your screen.

Having the 3D effect turned on adds a fantastic sense of depth to the game, and will certainly help you gauge proximity. But sometimes a level is so busy you'll simply lose track of what's happening - and get really hurt. Over time we found ourselves adjusting to the game's unique insanity, though it's undeniable the game is a bit manic.
All of this is to say that Icarus not only controls well, it is designed with layered combat in mind. Enemies also require a variety of strategies to defeat - some need to be attacked up close, some from far, and some simply must be avoided.

After a spirited fight, when his foe has fallen, our hero utters a single phrase that defines everything about the characters and mood of this game - "Calamaried."

Kid Icarus Uprising doesn't want to take itself seriously.
Throughout the game's breakneck action sequences, Pit is routinely telepathically communicating with the goddess Palutena. Though at times informative, the chatter is routinely sarcastic, quippy and sometimes even self-aware. Uprising is designed to be light-hearted, and the characters certainly reflect that.
To be honest, the game's banter is almost oppressive, simply because the characters won't shut up. I found myself missing helpful hints and suggestions because I grew tired of listening to the inane prattling between. However, as I revisited a couple stages, I started paying attention to what Pit was saying, and found it truly charming. Uprising is actually designed in a way that rewards those who repeatedly play through stages, for many reasons.

The Depth of Uprising - and Its Cauldron

Think this rebirth of Kid Icarus is a simplistic action game? Think again. To the best extent possible, Masahiro Sakurai's team has found a way to pack this game with content and depth, in a way that's truly remarkable - and we weren't even able to see everything it had to offer.

The bosses can truly be epic.

Uprising's highest difficulty levels can be merciless. Stages that were once easy become unbelievably challenging, as enemies are far more accurate, take more damage and are generally more lethal. Replaying with the Fiend's Cauldron set to a higher rating is almost like a new experience, one that can be even tougher depending on the power of weapon you equip.

The fact that Uprising, which at its heart is a shooter/third-person action hybrid, can even support such varied approaches speaks volumes about its design, and Nintendo's efforts to add a unique spin on a familiar genre.

Looks better than I hoped it would be. I love the light hearted attitude of the game. Have you guys seen the trailer where the hulking action hero with the big sword approaches the evil bad guy for a serious monologue and Pit suddenly appears with a Pokemon like voice actor voice "Wait you two know each other?!" lol

Kid Icarus looks great too. The 3DS is kicking all kinds of ass. No need for a vita anytime soon.

Reading the books I basically ignored all descriptions as to me I have seen what it all looks like. What was Sauron, it was still an eye, maybe not a physical one. But come on a flaming eye is way cooler.

I never read the books but I thought the flaming eye in the movies looked very cool as well. Now I've got the urge to go watch the movies again.

Low quality revelations pics. You should see the demo with 3D turned off, the aliasing makes everything look so clean.

Doesn't the right leg get cold?

This is probably the best pic but also a spoiler

So maybe ME3 should be the first game to kick off our gaming club this year.  Surely, most of us will pick it up around launch.
