Yes and it looked so good....the fuck? That must be why Square doesn't want to release it, it just looks too pimp for a modern Square game.
Is anyone planning on playing FF XIII-2? I have to admit it looks pretty good. I don't want to play FF XIII though. If it works as a stand alone game I'll probably throw down and try it. So I'll need reviews dammit.
Famitsu review details
- Final Fantasy XIII-2 (10/10/10/10, 40 points): The 18th game in Famitsu history to land a perfect review score (on both the 360 and PS3 versions, no less). If Famitsu's reviewers can be trusted, then Square Enix has apparently done a fantastic job of improving over the previous FF. "The setting and presentation is fantastic," wrote assistant editor Norihiro Fujiwara, "and the issues people brought up with the first game -- its linearity, its lack of meaty gameplay -- are a thing of the past. You're sucked into the game right from the beginning, and the story's very easy to get into."
"I have to take my hat off to the staff for being so open and thorough with responding to the feedback they got from FFXIII," added reviewer Ranbu Yoshida. "It feels like a very different game from its predecessor; the story changes depending on where you choose to go in your time-traveling journey, and it's easy to lose yourself in changing and redoing areas you've previously finished."
Although the adulations were laid on thick for XIII-2 (the second FF after XII to score 40/40 in Famitsu), the review text did offer one or two caveats. "The battles are very strategic in nature," Fujiwara wrote, "although you can adjust their difficulty to suit your abilities. I think some people may not be fans of how the party is locked into Noel, Serah, and your monsters."
- Monster Hunter 3G (10/10/9/9, 38 points): The original Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii scored a 40/40 from Famitsu back in 2009, but the heavily-enhanced 3DS port seems to have been docked a couple points. Why? A few little things -- the learning curve of the new controls, and the fact you can't pick up where you left off with Tri. "You can't continue from Tri," began one reviewer, "so you're back to the beginning, but a fair amount has been added to the Tri sections such that it still feels fresh. The touch controls are a breeze once you get used to them, and once you see the target camera for yourself, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it."
"It still essentially feels like an upgraded version of the Wii game," added another, "although you could certainly think of it as a wholly remade product. The controls are custom-made for the 3DS, and customizing your touch panel makes everything proceed pretty naturally. The increase in the number of more powerful monsters, among other things, make this game playable for a pretty long time."
3DS firmware out, adds Nintendo Achievements
Has anyone checked this stuff out on their 3DS yet? It's pretty cool. Nice to see Nintendo might finally be open to the idea of an achievement list. At any rate this was a pretty nice and substancial system update. Hell of a lot better than the recent PS3 update that didn't really do much of anything.
Seriously. A bit later, one of his antagonists in the presidential race (from another political party) made fun of him, and tried to show off by naming books he was currently reading. He failed miserably and confused the name of an author as well. My politicians are an embarrassment. >_<
That Skyrim stuff is bullshit of the tallest order. The last thing Beth needs is to get defensive and bitchy. They need to be proactive and offer solutions to the people that paid money to buy a potentially broken product. That a solution "would require a large time commitment" is not a justifiable explanation. Earning cash to buy their shit also takes time and effort.
Anyone buy Sonic Generations?
How does it compare to Colours?
Vader probably bought it. Not me.
FFXII-2 sounds tempting. I kind of liked the first one, and didn't mind its flaws too much, it's just that it didn't have what it takes to keep me hooked in order to see it through.
Yeah, I downloaded the update last night. It looks very sleek, and nice. I like it.
I like it better than the last one too. You can see your dashboard themes much better (I always use the Perfect Dark 64 theme...best one I've seen) and the whole thing is much more compact looking and doesn't have endless useless ads to go through.
I liked FF13...started slow but around 4 hours into it, it gets awesome. So I'm definitely getting 13-2. I just want to know wtf is up with Versus...
I really wish Dvader would stop being a cock and grab a copy of Lost Odyssey for $15...I really want to see how he feels about this game compared to FF13.
Fixed for great justice.
As for Skyrim...this may sound harsh, but I just don't give a fuck. This is why I would never buy a game like this on the PS3, because I knew as soon as it was announced the PS3 version would end up having some kind of issues the 360 and PC don't have, or at least not as bad. My version is working fine, so MEH. Bethesda has always been a PC and Xbox-centric developer, so its not a shock.
Speaking of Bethesda, I started playing RAGE and am about 4 hours into it. Its really cool and actually nothing like I expected. I thought it would be like a better version of DOOM in a way, but the game actually has more in common with Red Faction 3 and Borderlands in gameplay and atmosphere. The world looks very similar to Borderlands, and you get sent out on missions from random characters and use vehicles that control and look very similar to Borderlands as well.
Granted, I got it on Xbox instead of PC, but the graphics while very nice didn't blow me away like I thought they would. Some of the backgrounds tend to look painted and lifeless, which I hate. But the general environments look really good. Weapons have a nice feel to them and pack a nice wallop. Enemy AI isn't the best ever, but they do some interesting things to rush you or take cover.
Good stuff so far.
Don't worry, I'm getting it when it comes out over here. By then, hopefully my backlog is gone.
