I finished Metroid last night...man the last few bosses were kind of a pain in the ass. Great game though....much better than I expected after all the negative talk. I was also impressed with the level of exploration in the game; its really not all combat, though they somehow managed to keep the fast action pace of the game going strong throughout.

Took me 14 hours. Beautiful production values....definitely the best cutscenes on the Wii hands down. The story could have been much better with the way they paint Samus as a character, but besides that stuff it was pretty solid and keeps you intrigued to the end almost like an RPG. This is a great 1st step to modern day, yet vintage, Metroid gameplay. That article about this game beinbg the death of the franchise was a fucking bad joke. I score it an 8.7 Please let Team Ninja make a sequel on Wii 2.

Did you fight the final secret boss.

That Goldeneye article is absolute crap.

Why is the guy acting like This new HD version couldn't possibly be as good as COD and the like, and acting as if nobody knows how good the game is going to be, and saying it was only accepted on Wii because the Wii has no good FPS? That is horseshit.....yeah and if it bombed on Wii people would be blaming the Nintendo audience for not wanting mature games.

As far as I know, its the exact same game that was on Wii, just better looking. Maybe they will enhance the multi-player, but I doubt the campaign will be any different. And the campaign absolutely destroys any call of duty game I've played, so how can a journalist claim it couldn't POSSIBLY be as good as popular shooters on HD consoles? Claiming Eurocom couldn't possibly make a game on the level of Treyarch or Infinity Ward? The fuck? It is...the game came out last year.

The only valid point he makes is that there's a lot more competition for shooters on the HD consoles. That's completely true. However, most shooters still sell relatively well, so despite my own curiosity on that market still not been saturated there's no reason to think it won't sell a few million copies. Probably not the 18 million that some do, but it will in all likelihood at least equal the 2 million sold on the Wii.

There's certainly something to be said for pushing for improvements in the workplace, but I'm more of the mind of stop whining and better your own situation. A lot of these guys who are complaining I'm guessing are very young. That was the impression I got from one of the developers who was interviewed in one of the first articles about this. They may not have realized yet that it's not a company's job to make sure you're happy, well paid, and living how you want. I know in my early and mid 20's I didn't quite understand that and I stayed in a bad job much longer than I should have. I complained about my work conditions to everyone except my employers and eventually an ex-coworker told me it was my fault that I wasn't happy in my job. Looking back on it he was right, I should have moved on and it wasn't long before I did and life was good again. That's what these guys needed to do as well.

Another funny thing about looking out for yourself instead of expecting a company to do it is that it tends to force change in those bad companies. They either end up restructuring or going out of business, just like my old bad company did.

I agree about your there, but young people will always be idealistic about these things. Companies will try to take advantage of it, it is not a sustainable practise. But the whining is about the credits, can you imagine if you put that horrible company in your résumé and your are applying for a position at a new company. They might check if you actually worked there. What if your horrible boss said that you never worked there out of spite. That is what happened with LA Noire. I have heard from people that work in the industry that post at Neogaf, that the credits are like your references in your résumé.  Team Bondi is not just ruining your current job, but also your trying to ruin your future job.

Also it is easy for people like me to quit my current job. Heck I am not even phased if people sack me because of things outside of my control. I am free with no commitments. I have no mortgage, no kids and the only money debt I have is to my sister. This is different if you have obligations, like kids and wife (just ask Al Bundy). Also in my field finding jobs is easy. After being let go by my previous employer I had 3 job offers. Not all people have the same luxury.

LOL game journalism/

Some of the people who comment on the article below it are complete morons too.

And those people will grow up and be games journalist one day too. Seriously there is no difference between a so called game journalist and a fanboy most of the time. There are exceptions, but I can not think of any right now.

It's messed up that Bondi isn't giving them credits, and I'm not defending that in any way. Though I do sort of question just how important that is. Plenty of employees quit LA Noire mid-development and probably were able to put the game on their resume before then. I could be dead wrong about that though. My only point was that complaining about your hours at always a pointless endeavor.

I don't think it is that important, but still a bitch move. You might get in the position where you have to explain what happened and employers do not like it when you talk negatively about your previous employer, you might talk negatively about them in the future. So Team Bondi might force some of these guys in that situation.

Also complaining has its merits, If no one complains nothing changes.

So if the conditions are so bad you have to get another job they aren't also bad enough for it to become public knowledge (especially since it's so widespread that it seems such things should definitely be looked into by relevant authorities) via the complaining you find oh so very annoying because they should be acting instead of talking (as if you know what every one of them does in his personal life, if they're in dire need of uninterrupted payments for whatever personal reason which forces them to, for now, stay,  or if there are even other jobs available to them without having enough to actually invest into it as even moving isn't necessarily cheap)? You were lucky. You got out on your own, yes, but you were also lucky to be able to do that. Not everyone who works hard or has a skill worth paying for is in the same boat as you. Still, all this is quite irrelevant. I don't know their exact lives and conditions and I'm not commenting on that. I'm commenting on problematic working conditions, realise they're problematic if they're in fact like that, and state and agree that ideally they shouldn't be like that, anywhere, instead of go all "well it's how it is in this industry so either deal with it or don't be a developer" or whatever Pachter that you agreed with essentially said. Agreeing the conditions are bad and yet also agreeing with Pachter's attitude of no sympathy and it is how it is and deal with it is contradicting to me. Advicing them to move on elsewhere is one thing, if they can do that it's awesome and a no brainer. Although nothing guarantees things will be that much better in another company. Which is a problem of its own. Saying they're not worthy of sympathy because it's how the industry they chose is, is a whole different thing. In the end they're being exploited. Whether that's because of their shitty lives or because they're naive, or whatever else makes no difference. We should, ideally, work towards a future that provides more safety against such things. And yes, there are worse conditions than this out there. When/if we discuss those here I'll chime in. This was the subject and I said what I think of it, saying there are worse problems doesn't make this situation that is also acknowledged as a problem something that is okay to exist and it also doesn't make Pachter right.

Here's a good question. All the negative press that Team Bondi has gotten in the last month over LA Noire's development conditions; will it hurt them or help them? They lost Rockstar in the short-term, but other than that I don't think any of this will do anything but make them a bigger commodity. LA Noire was linked to Rockstar prior to its release. Now it's very clearly linked to Team Bondi. All the complaining people just did made the beast stronger. Complain all you want, most of the time the only thing that really changes things are actions.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, anyone who would have the funds to work with or invest in "the dudes who made LA Noire" would also have the brains (or the people with the brains) to learn it's Team Bondi's work and Rockstar is the publisher. What company ever accidentally invested in the wrong company because it wasn't common public knowledge that someone else did in fact do all the work? Maybe you didn't know of them before this, that doesn't mean shit. It's also quite irrelevant to the discussion. If we discuss the issues of "how bad press actually makes things worse" I'll chime in on that if I can be bothered, though I'm not sure if there really is merit to that. I was commenting on working conditions (or rather some random douche's opinion of said working conditions to begin with). That is all. I also don't know if all they do is sit and complain and they don't also act in their own lives I'm not there to see so I won't comment on that.

No, replies like this are cute. Also condescending while presenting no argument.

In theory everyone should be an idealist and in practice work with what they have while allowing the theory to become practice when it's viable (elections and other votes, grounds for mass protests, etc).

Just as those people may be, online, complaining and helping make the issues of the industry known and in their daily lives actively looking for a way out. Maybe they aren't great with words. Whatever. I'm not either.

Your own "just get another job and the bad company will close" attitude is idealistic in itself. And theoretical. Some will. Some won't. Unemployment rates aren't getting much better and not every unemployed person is a lazy bum. Many companies, smaller or bigger, prey on simple facts like that, obviously.

Our societies are full of issues and not everyone has the capability to get out of some of them as easily as the next man, in this case you. That doesn't mean they are in fact in any way worse as people and deserve it.

Well Rockstar had the same problems with Red Dead Redemption. People complained, housewives protested and it still sold really well. I don't think consumers care about the workings of the industry. So I think it is irrelevant to sales. Of course they will have more trouble hiring people because of it, so complaining did have some effect.

.... Unemployment rates aren't getting much better and not every unemployed person is a lazy bum. Many companies, smaller or bigger, prey on simple facts like that, obviously.

As I said earlier Australia is at effective full employment.  Software developers are much needed in this country.  (Team Bondi is in Sydney).  The employment market for software developers is INSANE in my state capital.

5%. And yet you still have issues like this. Imagine how it is elsewhere. At the very least this being out in the open due to the complaints will drive your youth to avoid them or ensure better terms before committing.

Where do Xbox Live accounts go when they die?

To the "My Account has been Suspended" Forum on Xbox.Com of course!

Part of me worries for the future of humanity when I read thru this forum. The other part laughs like a maniacal bastard at seeing these morons get what's due to them, as they then try to beg for forgiveness.

Warning: You will find that you cannot stop reading and will probably lose lots of time clicking on the link!

If Team Bondi was in the US I'd agree with all of your points entirely. But it isn't.

Just as a reminder: Catherine comes out tomorrow in the United States!

A few pieces of praise:

__________________

1Up:  In an era increasingly defined by developers' ever-growing fear of creating anything that isn't a safe, conservative million-seller, Atlus' willingness to create and publish something as unique as this is truly commendable. Best of all, it's not just a weird game -- it's a great one, too.

Gaming Excellence:  We only hope that this game will find the crowd that enjoys both the aggravation of the challenge and the developing storyline that forms the core of Catherine. There is a hell of an experience here if you only have the patience for it.

Destructoid:  A fantastic experience with a simple, fun and challenging arcade game at its core. It should not be missed by anyone who wants to enjoy a story with the emotional depth to match its adult themes and with multiple endings and side stories to resolve, there's a fair bit of inducement to return for a second or third pass. The action of the tower climbing is superb.

IGN:  I loved my time with Catherine. In many ways, I was completely blown-away by it. While I'm sure some gamers will be turned-off by its anime-style presentation and difficult gameplay, I implore those of you who are looking for something authentically different and outright fun to give Catherine a go.

Gamespot:  Catherine is involving, intense, and unlike anything you've ever played.

Machinma:  It's a fantastically fun, original, and challenging puzzle game. At the same time, its story explores adult themes that games typically avoid, and will have you hooked on the drama within an hour.
