Technical capabilities aside, what a ridiculously BORING looking system the Wii U is...

...that has turned me OFF more than anything.

I might feel differently had I actually watched any of the presentations or shows, but... Meh!

Okay so it looks fun but isn't.

Although he responded by saying he wasn't able to announce anything, he did say the franchise would be a good fit with Wii U and that something will be announced "when the time is right".

Sitting down for an E3 chat, Levine squashed outright the notion that his appearance on the screen at Nintendo's E3 press conference, along with other big industry names, meant that Bioshock Infinite will be appearing on the Wii U.

While Nintendo seems to have persuaded a number of third party developers to bring their titles over to the Wii U next year, it seems FPS veterans id Software won't be among them.



Speaking to Eurogamer backstage at E3 today, the Rage studio's creative director Tim Willits expressed doubt that they'll be a big enough audience for a core shooter on Nintendo's new system.



"The Nintendo market is a tough market for us to get into," he explained. "A lot of first party games, a lot of licensed games – those are the ones that have done the best on that platform. I'd love it if we can get a hardcore FPS community going and build on it, but it's tough.



"I think we should keep our toes where we know best," he added.



Willits also stated that he was in no desperate hurry for Microsoft and Sony to bring their own new systems to market.



"Stability in the consoles is good," he said.



"If they want to stack another year or two on this generation I'd be more than happy. I know somebody is working on it somewhere but I don't want to hear about it.



He explained that now developers had finally got to grips with the two HD platforms, they've been freed up to concentrate on the most important part of the development process: game design. A new generation of consoles would only be disruptive, he argued.



"It allows us to focus on the game. You get a technology locked down then you can focus on the design. If you spend too long working on the tech it's so much more difficult. When you know what the platform does you can focus on what is fun."



He added that the studio's current id Tech 5 set-up is flexible enough carry over into the next generation, whenever it might begin.

THQ has Darksiders II running on Wii U

"We have Darksiders II completely running on the Wii U right now," THQ core games boss Danny Bilson told Eurogamer today.



"It took about five weeks. Coming into the show we were ready to go. We could have demonstrated it on the hardware but they [Nintendo] decided not to have full games shown in the booth."



Instead, as confirmed by Nintendo this week, PS3 and Xbox 360 footage was shown to reveal that Darksiders II is set for launch on Wii U, due out next year.



"But if you were to go into Vigil in Austin, Texas right now, Darksiders II is fully running on the new hardware," Bilson continued.



"The Darksiders team was one of the first teams to get dev kits. We've had dedicated engineers on it working seven day weeks leading up to the show.



"I've got all the emails. We now have it running with the controller. So we could have shown it."



Nintendo is yet to fully reveal the Wii U specs, making power comparisons with the PS3 and Xbox 360 difficult.



"Some of it is still in flux," Bilson said. "There are still some improvements to be made to some parts of it."



But, the Wii U version of Darksiders II will "absolutely" look as good as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

Metal Gear Solid Wii U under discussion

Nintendo has approached Kojima Productions about working on a title for the Wii U, the Metal Gear Solid studio has confirmed.



Creative producer Yoshikazu Matsuhana, the man responsible for the forthcoming MGS HD Collection and Snake Eater 3D, told Eurogamer that it was shown the console well in advance of Nintendo's E3 press conference yesterday, and is still weighing up how to best support the new platform.



"Obviously we did have talks with Nintendo early on – they approached us with the Wii U," he explained.



"We can't say exactly when this happened or what kind of talks we've had but we were aware of the hardware and we've been looking at it.



"We are very much thinking about possibilities with the Wii U and it looks like a very fun system. As for whether we'll have something at launch for the Wii – we can't say that. Probably not, but we definitely have things in mind.



"We're also looking at the public reaction. If there are enough people who say they want us to bring something to the Wii U that also factors into things."



Might Metal Gear Solid 5 be a nice fit for Nintendo's new machine perhaps? We tried and failed to tempt Matsuhana into dropping that particular bombshell.



"We anticipated we would get questions about this today and unfortunately our answer is, we can't answer that. We can't say anything right now. Top secret," he cheerfully responded.

This has to be coming out for the Wii U as well I hope.....and they should throw Twin Snakes in there as well.

Honestly, I'm so excited for the new controller and the possibilities of it, that I don't see myself buying games on any other console once it comes out.

A bit of all. Its gotten to the point where a Zelda game isn't a huge event. Nothing is a huge event anymore, I think we covered everything.

Honestly only GTA5 could set the game world on fire and that is only cause its been so long since GTA4 and its totally shrouded in secrecy. Like with Halo you know its Master Chief and it takes place in space. GTA who knows what the game will be like.

I don't know, it seems like the ultimate controller that can do pretty much anything to me, I don't see what's not to like. Some people need a miracle to be impressed these days.
