It was pretty huge. It had a lot of momentum right after Avatar because of the whole 3D thing. Also, Johnny Depp playing the Mad Hatter was also a big thing.
And I think Tim Burton's pretty popular in Japan because of Nightmare Before Christmas.

FF VII Rap (Spoilers) (starts at 20 second mark)
It was a typical Tim Burton train wreck. Great visuals at the expense of a good story.
Ganmespot GOTY awards:
Deadly Premonition won the "Most Surprisingly Good Game" Category:
"Deadly Premonition doesn't seem like the kind of game that would be good; it has dated graphics and poor controls, but it also has an incredible, over-the-top story and more memorable moments than anyone would ever expect from such a game."
Vanquish won, "Best Game No-one Played"
"At the time of these awards, Vanquish just doesn't seem to have become a commercial success. It's a real shame more people haven't experienced this innovative third-person action game's unique features."
Red Dead Redemption got all the "good" specialist awards... get used to it, it's going to be the overwhelming choice for GOTY.
It's a bummer that great games like Vanquish and Bayonetta are overlooked and didn't get the sales/recognition they deserved.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
Bayonetta sold well though (so that's good) I think I heard 1.2 million. I should be finisheg that before the end fo the year, but I think LKS is going to take up all my time.
But from what I've seen of it the visuals are over saturated crap. So nothing redeemable about it at all? I'll stick to neco z allenky.
Because it's shit that looks different from everything else is my guess. He's also been around so long I am guessing there are die-hard fans who have some emotional conneciton to his earlier works.
I can't really fault an artist for going back to the well, I mean if you listen to any popular band their songs all sound like their last songs etc... Artists too, I mean, I doubt anyone went up to Rothko and said, "this is the same old shit everytime man -- can't you paint some chicks with guns instead?"
I have played LBP2, the demo went live today with three story mode levels. I played it at a friends house, we played 2 player, it was glorious. One level is the grappleing hook level shown at E3, so awesome. The bumpers and grapple adds so much to the gameplay, I cant wait to see it being used in future levels. The next level has you riding various animals each with their own special power. One is a fat cat that is shaped like a ball and has a boost, it felt like Sonic at times. So much variety in just two levels, this game will be unmatched when it hits. The third level is just a multiplayer mini game involving hats that shoot rockets, fun stuff. No game will offer more variety, more content and more fun than LBP2 next year.
I also played Mass Effect 2 demo, wow that game is gorgeous. Feels like a Bioware epic but plays like a quality shooter, I am very sold but I will wait till I get a 360 to buy the first,
Having seen all that it is capable of it is difficult for me to conceive that it's actaully manageable. Like, I dug the old game RPG Maker 1 & 2 on the PS1, it let you make a JRPG basically, but it was just overwhelming to the point where, unless you were going to dedicate all your free time to mastering it you had no chance of getting to a final product.
Then you have games like Incredible Machine which have lots more flexibility, but less complexity because they build it on easy to understand concepts (basic physics) -- same could be said for different reasons about Minecraft (from what I have seen). From what I saw of LBP1 it tended to look just a little too complicated for the average adult with other pastimes than a single game. Would LBP2 change my mind on that? It seems more complex, but that doesnt mean it's not simpler (read better).
You don't have to create stuff, you can just play what others create. Of course it takes dedication to make good shit no matter how simple the tools are so you'll wade through a ton of crap to find the gems but still, that's the gist of any such software. With RPG maker or anything non-PC previously you couldn't easily share creations so you were left with a tool, not a game, but with games like LBP bringing some of that accessibility to consoles users will hopefully be able to enjoy what others create, and hopefully what others create will be substantial worthwhile content, not gimmicky levels based on cool ideas that are never developed into something meaty. That's a lot to hope for so if you really aren't interested in the content included in the box you might as well wait for a price drop and in the meantime just check out the crazy creations on youtube, and hopefully see a lot of it develop into meaty content you want to play through yourself rather than silly tests that are cool to see but little more.
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.

Yeah Bayonetta and Vanquish are two excellent games that I'm really happy to have in my gaming library. I think there's a Bayonetta 2 in the works. Hopefully Vanquish will get a sequel.
The Dead Space 2 demo was very cool. Looks and plays great and was pretty atmospheric and creepy. Only about a month away now for the full game to hit, can't wait.
Rockstar Vancouver which means no Bully sequel?
I recentely bought an electric razor, it's the best I have ever used. It doesn't pinch or bite, it glides over your face like you aren't even being shaved. It has a 3 cutting system so it cuts both long hair and short, so you can pretty much give up wet shaving unless you are some hairy brute. It's got tons and I mean TONS of 5 star reviews on amazon and it is fairly cheap at £26 with free postage.

Batman.
absolutely fantastic. i am 72 years old and have purchased all of the big named shavers over the last 55 years. i must say that this shaver is superior in every way to all of the others. it feels good to hold, it shaves VERY closely without any discomfort, it lasts a very long time between charges and is very cheap for a shaver of this high quality. i had it reccomended to me by a relative, and in return i shall be advising all of my friends to buy one. thank you very much Whal, and amazon for a fantastic bargain. mick crafts.
Remedy may be working on Alan Wake 2. It'll take another 5 years though!
But yeah, Max Payne 3 won't be the same without Remedy, but Rockstar wowed me with Red Dead, so it still may turn out well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
So did no one catch the sneaky story Aspro posted yesterday in the updates?
- The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is “over half complete”
- “What we are focused on is creating gameplay mechanics so the gameplay experience feels very dense. In fact, the overall experience is going to feel more dense. We hope that people will want to go back and replay the game once they finish it”.
- “On the software side we are seeing stable sales, and Mario Kart is still selling at a steady pace. There's still a lot of games we can create for it, and our audience is expanding. Nintendo doesn't think so much about competition as about creating new video game experiences, trying to do things differently. The other thing we focus on is trying to deliver our interactive entertainment to as broad an audience as possible."
- "What’s really exciting (with the 3DS) is our new ability to have a sense of depth. Once you have the true 3D visual it becomes very clear where all the objects are on that space, so jumping on objects becomes easier. We’ve found that pulling the camera far back to observe the car racing works really well. But you must remember that we have been experimenting with 3D in one way or another for over 20 years. The 3DS is another opportunity to do even more."
- “When I was young, I had a stereoscopic movie viewer thing, and I became fascinated by the images. Maybe you could have short 3D clips you can watch over and over again. It's well suited to a device like the 3DS. It is also technically possible to put a full 2-hour movie on there and watch it too."
- “The thing is that I enjoy going to work so much that the only time I take for vacation is for my family’s sake. Making and playing games for a living is such fun. With Super Mario Galaxy 2, for example, we were flexing our gaming muscles. The sense of satisfaction from making a difficult game is amazing. If you finish that game, you'll be able to play almost any game in the world. Look, everything I create has a little bit of me in it, and there are some common factors. Mario will never end up in an overly violent game, yet all these years he gets through games by punching and kicking."
