Check out this storm heading my way:
Is that a plane flying into it?
Either way. That is a glorious looking storm. I envy you

Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
This is the third day of tropical storm cells like this. (Someone else took that pic this afternoon not me, so I'm just guessing, but it looks like a plane).
So the aliens from Independence Day finally arrived. Get away from the city now!
I'm fleeing Brisbane in about 2 hours. you have to be used to this stuff though in Florida right? Hot as hell all day then a big storm in the afternoon?
Since it's the holiday period it's the perfect time to play Merry Gear Solid 1 and Merry Gear Solid 2, whoever hasn't. Seriously, it's good shit, especially the second, which is best played after the first for all the references.
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.

So Aggie, going off topic for a bit. In watching the news, things don't look so hot in Greece right now. Is that stuff effecting you (the proposed austerity measures or the riots)?
Me and Leo played it, our impressions start here in the thread. Leo hated it. I went from liking it to hating it in the middle to generally getting by and liking it. It has some stuff worth playing but you have to get past the bullshit. If you can reconcile yourself with the manual camera and try to avoid most combat it can be a fun game. Also the biggest problem is that there is NO map so you need a good sense of direction. It's not hard to navigate but there will be odd stretches of gameplay where you try to figure out where you should be going. Also there is a difficulty spike in one particular area where you have to take on two super robots at once which will have you getting Viewtiful Joe like rage. If you know what you are doing it isn't that hard - actually you only have to destroy one robot to open the door which you can then escape from.
My review is here, I gave it a 7.5
A snippet:
"Once you make your peace with this game. It's quite enjoyable. Sure it has its flaws, no map, a camera that is fine for exploring, inadequate for battling. But they only force you to battle on three occasions and only once has it been anywhere near game breaking.
The music is sometimes sublime, sometimes horrendous. But the game has a fun vibe about it, great cutscenes, some grin moments, some funny and touching moments. And it does a great job of empowering you with super power like abilities.
Like the way you can bounce about environments jumping and hookshotting about.
And being a dick in this game is fun. See a bucket of water? Pick it up with telekinesis and drop it on someones head. See someone sitting on a bench? Remove the bench.
Grab a balloon and it acts like grabbing a chicken in zelda for a slow mo descent.
There is stupid stuff that is just funny. You're on a tram for instance and a crazy old grandma just starts running up and down the aisle, knocking everyone down like bowling balls. You get pissed and just pick her up and throw her into a window."
Oh man, it started snowing last night and the car was all frosted up. This morning it starts coming down. So I decide that I am going to put anti-freeze screen washer in. I stop at a petrol station and pop the lid with the button, only it half opens.
I feel under the hood for the button to lift it fully and I can't feel anything through the gloves. I take the gloves off and feel freezing metal on my bare skin. Still can't open the f******* thing. I can't close it either and can't run the car with the hood like that
So I am stuck in this petrol station car park. I sit there reading the manual then go out and try again. I manage to snag this little hook which opens the lid. Then I try and use the bar to prop the hood up. Unlike any normal car, in this one the rod is not attached to the bonnet.
So it promptly falls into the engine.
And it's in too far to reach.
If I start the engine the bar will get caught up in the machinery and probably cause mucho damage to the car.
So in blizzard temperatures I'm leaning into the cars engine trying to get this bar out. Instead I manage to force it in further, it drops out of sight.
Then I take a hard hard look and think that is has fallen through the engine and undercarriage and is on the road underneath my car. I cross my fingers and reverse the car out, hallalujah the bar is on the road.
All of this to put in screen wash.
I was so pissed off.
Things are very hot in Greece. Too hot
It's like Fallout

Resistance 3 trailer looks like more of the same, which I guess for me is good. I don't consider myself a big fan of shooters but I've completed and enjoyed the first two games (as well as the PSP one which is also great). It's the kind of first party sony game which goes platinum in less than a year so I get great value out of these.
Speaking purely from a single player campaign perspective as I don't bother with multiplayer, I enjoyed the Resistance games a lot more than Killzone 2 (which I didn't finish)
Conduit 2, I can't say I feel much of a draw there. I regret buying the first one so unless this gets an outstanding reception or gg pimps it like mad, then i most probably won't be getting it.
edit: Watched the Killzone 3 trailer. Move controls look OK. Nothing not done with the wiimote before. I remain skeptical on the game itself. Wasn't impressed with KZ2

Well the X-men Destiny Trailer was crap. Is asking to see some gameplay really that much?
And 1-Up's Worst Cosplay gallery really was kind of lame too. A lot of those were meant to be jokes. The guys dressed as Zangief and the Flash for instance were not making any attempts at being serious. And hell a couple of them like the Mike Hagger and Brain Age costume were actually pretty good. Always makes me shake my head why people make fun of something when they don't really understand it. The irony of it coming from a game site is rather rich. That's the nutritional kind of irony!
Eternal Sonota is $8 on Amazon.com today. I think at that price I'm required to buy it.
I suggest you and everyone else watches this.
