Wow Jungle Beat is so much fun. Donkey is just brutal, soccer kicking bats to the ceiling, whaling on pigs, punching monkeys in the face, breaking a metal egg by doing his best woody woodpecker impersonation and playing volleyball with coconuts.
You can really see how this game influenced Galaxy. The fur effect is exactly like in Galaxy, the colors and graphics have the same 'pop' to them, the flower you can climb up to is really like the dandelion flowers in Galaxy, the bushed that launch you from place to place is kinda like the launch stars. Galaxy is kinda like a cross between Jungle Beat and the sunshine void levels with awesome, awesome music.
Also the game has an awesome scoring system, where collecting bananas without touching the ground nets you bonus points.
I have this and the Bongos -- I'm going to try it this morning based on this (since no other console game is sticking with me this week).
Well, finally sold my 360! Got at least $100 for it. I know it's not much but I had to get rid of it before it tanked on me.
I also sold more than half of my collection for store credit. Picked up a few stuff. Also got NBA Jam for the Wii and going to use the leftover credits for future PSP games.
I thought about slowly saving up for a 360 Slim, but I think I'm going to lay low for awhile and stop gaming for the time being. I've gotten my life back together again and finally got another project going along with the part time job I've had for the past two years. So I think I want to finish that project up before I decide to dish out on another console. Maybe when Gears of War 3 comes out since that looks so good!
I still got my handhelds, which is good.

Well I am playing the Wii version, but I think this game is perfect for you. It is short and sweet, if you do not dive in the score attack thing. You can probably finish it in a day or two.
(To Ask)
Handhelds and the Wii right? (since you got NBAJam).
Maybe by the time you get a new 360 they'll have another price drop.
Of course! I can NEVER trade or sell my Super Mario collection (which includes New SMB, SMG 1/2) Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Metroid!
Honestly, I don't think there will be another price drop for either the 360 or PS3. I mean, 250GB 360 Slim at $300 is an amazing deal already considering that the 250GB PS3 Slim is $400 still, I think.
I just don't see the 360 Slim with a 250GB HDD being dropped to $250. Than that means Sony has to drop the PS3 Slim's price and I don't think they'll do that with the Blu-Ray player on it.
Maybe when the next XBOX and PS4 hits, than we'll probably see a price drop.

I didn't know Jungle Beat influenced Galaxy.
Anyway, I had this.
I think I still have those bongos laying around somewhere even though I don't have the Cube. DKC Returns was probably inspired from Jungle Beat also since the graphics and animation look so similar.

Leo, thanks for re-posting your impressions of Majin. Wish there were in their own thread so I can find them easier later, but still very appreciateive.
Listening to Super Mario Galaxy's theme song is just amazing! It really sounds like something out of a Disney/Pixar or Hollywood film!
Man I hope Nintendo does Zelda Skyward Sword's soundtrack with a orchestra!

Does this sound like a confirmation? I found this:
During the Q&A session, a question was put to Shigeru Miyamoto about the music of Skyward Sword, whether it would have orchestral music or not. Miyamoto sidestepped the question a bit and said “I don’t think we could do what we did with Mario Galaxy 2 and not try to match that with Zelda.”
Sounds like a YES!

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobilePlaying the Donkey Kong Bongo game. I'm through 5 of 17 lands now. I can see some of the same influences in this game as in Galaxy. The bite-size worlds and the flowers you use as slingshots. Music is great. Graphically it looks better than most Wii games I've played. Too simple though, and playing with the bongos a little tough on the hands. Hopefully will beat it today or tomorrow.
Microcosmos>both of those!
What is this Microcosmos you speak of?
Donkey Kong JB was made by Tokyo EAD. Miyamoto was so impressed that he suggested/ordered that Tokyo EAD made the next Mario game. That game become Super Mario Galaxy. And yes Country Returns lookes like a lovechild between Country 1,2,3 and Jungle Beat.
Well the Wii version plays like a more traditional platformer. There are more enemies walking around and stuff, but the real depth is trying for high scores. Trying to colect many bananas at once without touching the ground really adds depth to the game.
