Last night was productive. Followed rag's advice again and rerolled a new character, a female Royal. Cleared Boletaria 1-1 and kicked Phalanx's ass without dying once. Started my char build, and looted like a madman. Even though I didn't clear more stages, I ended up with the Amulet of God, a Purple Flame Shield, a Fire Resistance Ring (those last two I nabbed from beneath a couple of fucking dragons, I was scared shitless) and a Crescent Falchion+1.

Today I'll try learning the flow of 2-1, dunno if I'll be able to clear it. Probably not. And afterwards, will return to 4-1. I have some business to settle with this son of a bitch.

This game is fucking unbelievable. Easily in my top 3 of the generation so far, along with Uncharted 2 and the Mass Effect series.

By the way, if you can go near the two dragons to get the loot it means your world tendency is pure white, so the path to the tower where you fight Amanda the executioner in 1-1 is open, though she may be too tough to fight so early on (unless you have poison cloud)

IGN has a preview up for the final version of DKCR - http://wii.ign.com/articles/113/1130930p1.html - and it looks promising. In fact, one little nugget actually gets me excited about the game.

Donkey Kong Country Returns isn't as overwhelmingly creative as Retro Studios Metroid Prime Trilogy design as this game roots itself in a very traditional side-scrolling platform experience. But the team definitely embraces the aspects of the original Donkey Kong Country design: tons of collectibles and controller throwing difficulty.

I've been debating interest in the game, mainly since I remember the original DKC being very easy. So if there's actually a degree of difficulty here, that might very well seal the deal on me picking this up.

Well Zenimax bought his studio, it's not like he'll be working onthe next Morrowind -- I'm guessing he'll just have more financial security for his studio.  This is great news!

I've determined that since I'm not getting Vanquish yet I'm going to play the 2003 GC game P.N.03 as my next console game.
