And Inafune hates his job? Then can I have it?
No seriously though, it looks like he's losing his passion for video games. He forgot what made him want to make games.
Maybe he should stop criticizing fellow Japanese developers or stop outsourcing Capcom's beloved franchises to Ninja Theory and make that ultimate Mega Man dream game he always wanted to. Than maybe he'll rekindle that fire he once had when he was just a humble NES artist and game designer.
I like Inafune though.

This. Very much so.
Yoda, I think the Hamster wants more minuses. How about somewhere around...... -10,000? Make it so, Yoda. Make it so.
Wat.
No more NPD numbers?
Aw man! Now what do I talk about on game forums?

DIE NPD!
So what's the deal with NPD. I'm reading conflicting reports. I've cited Ars Technica in the story above, but Euogamer says no software either:
Enjoy finding out exactly how many copies a game has sold in the US every month? Bad news then. The NPD Group, the company that tracks the data, will no longer be publishing sales figures.
Effective immediately, sales of both software and hardware will no longer appear alongside its monthly charts.
However, some data for software will still be discussed in Anita Frazier's monthly sales analysis. Platform holders and publishers who subscribe to NPD will also be permitted to release sales figures for their products if they so choose.
NPD executive director David Riley explained the move to VG247. "Clients can release their figures, which we can verify, but it shouldn't be up to NPD to release these figures."
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter added, "I'm not sure why they ever release any of their numbers to the press. They probably do so to generate publicity, and they have likely concluded that they get plenty by publishing only a little information, so they want to give less away for free."
That was the route I was going to go, so thanks for hte heads up.
Sees news above: "Dante's Inferno sequel not determined."
I guess Visceral Games played Lords of Shadow and thought, "Damn, we suck!"
Translation: "Mercury Steam and Kojima did a better job ripping off God of War than we did!"
Joe Madureira Darksiders creator: "They should've copied Zelda!"
Kamiya holding Bayonetta in his hands: "Suck it foolz!"

I still have a copy of Syberia that I found at a Gamestop a few years ago. I really should play it. Same with Longest Journey.
Also, I really want to play through Dreamfall but the driver issues is crippling my system. I wish the Steam version fixed it but they didn't.

So Shantae has the highest rating on Metacritic for DS games? Well-deserved.
The original GBC version looked great too. I can't believe I missed it back in the day. I remember seeing it on the shelves. I should've got multiple copies and I would've made over $500 on EBay today.

Has a commercial ever sold you a game...? This one harkens back to my SNES and Genesis days and has cemented a DAY ONE purchase for me!
Super Meat Boy? That sounds slightly obscene.
...yeah, ok. You got me. The commercial didn't sell it to me. I was sold at "Super Meat."
I wonder what kind of images I would get if I put those words into my search engine...?
Huh... That's funny... it keeps on bringing up this image...
That trailer is fantastic.
I played a bunch of demos and stuff on my brothers PS3 over the weekend.
First there was Castlevania which I enjoyed very much. Production values through the roof. It felt difficult, the dodging and blocking felt great. I had daggers right off the bat, sweet. The axe is in the game right? Only the music seemed off and the story seemed very epic and bloated for Castlevania where all that is need is "guy with whip kill Dracula in scary castle, GO!"
I played the Lara Croft demo and it was fantastic, honestly one of the best demos for a online only game I have played. If I had a working PS3 I would have bought it immediately. The controls are perfect, it use the twin stick shooting mechanics of a geometry wars like game which makes the combat a blast. There are a ton of obstacles and puzzles in the demo. There are always extra goals you can try to achieve. It was so much fun.
I got to try the new vanquish challenge demo, this demo is an arena like area with many waves of different enemies coming at you. In the arena you get a wide selection of weaponry like rocket launchers, a disc thrower, this lock on laser blast thing and a gun that shoots a huge energy ball that goes through walls. This demo makes the other demo feel like baby game, I could not finish it, it was brutal. The enemies that start to show up are relentless. There was a time that I was behind cover and I had gun fire, missles being locked on to me, grenades being thrown at me and a mega blast of death that goes through cover all coming at me at once. You have to be a badass just to survive where most games the badassness comes when you want a high score. The combat is brilliant, maybe its too chatoic, that might be an issue. Other third person shooters need to take notice cause your games feel slow and tame compared to this.
I also played NBA2K11, now I have not played a basketball game in many years so I am probably not aware of any advancements made throughout the years, I just know that it is the best basketball game I have ever played. I have never felt a basketball game that felt so right. Some NBA games have a steep learning curves, like that Elite demo which was terrible, this easy to understand but still very deep. One big shock is that the AI plays defense, they will get in your passing lanes constantly and intercept passes, so much so that almost everyone I have talked to thinks that it hurts the game, I think its more realistic. The players all feel different, Lebron and Wade don't play move the same way. Most importantly they nailed Jordan, playing as him makes you feel like the greatest of all time. The presentation is incredible from the menus to how each game starts. The Jordan mode is fun as hell and each challange is an actual challenge. I hardly got to look over the features, so many of them. It's the complete package in a way only 2K knows how to do. As I played that I felt so sad cause of what NFL2k could be like now.
I'm usually one for retro references, but I loathed commercals like that back in the 80's and 90's and all it does is completely turn me off to the game now.
Having listened to the Eurogamer and Gamespot podcasts today, sounds like Medal of Honor is "solid" but underwhelming.
I guess it is to be expected, a game out of the blue, even if it has had three years of developerment, is going to have trouble when stacked up against a game that has been iterated 6-7 times over the last 6 years (COD).
