Vesperia is pretty great. Still one of the best console JRPGs. I also picked up Valkyria Chronicles 2. I think Sega did a awesome job with the limitations of the PSP. I'm sure the PS3 version is awesome, but I'm pretty happy that I'm able to play this series!
The black DC does look nice. I think black consoles do look better also, although the different colored PS3's look pretty sweet.

Played some MLB 09 The Show. So far I've played two games with the missus. The first one was 14 innings (took 2 hrs 28 minutes in real time), the second was 22 innings. Really enjoyable game though.
Beat Cubivore (I think that was this week).
Just past half-way in Final Fantasy 4 (DS). It's the best FF I've played so far.
A third of the way through Chili Con Carnage -- it's like a GTA version of the El Mariachi films. VERY funny. Controls well - OTT gunplay (PSP). It is not a re-make of Total Overdose, it's a stand-alone game and so far as good as if not slightly better than the XB/PS2 game it is based on.
Chapter 7 of Eternal Darkness (GC).
New EDF game -- Whooo hoo! first day.
This weekend, I've taken to Metroid like a starving man to food. I was trying to pace myself, knowing a game like this is rare and to be savored...
No such luck... I gorged myself to the point where when I finally stopped to take a breath, I realized I was fighting one of the final battles of the game!
*This game has elevated Team Ninja as a developer to whole new levels for me!*
The other, non-Other M game I played was:
*Surprise!*
Like Leo, I've been trying to savor every moment with Samus...er...Metroid Other M!
Been playing that this past week, just taking my time and enjoying it.
I'm also finally playing through Mass Effect 2. I'm forcing myself to get into it and to my surprise, it's good. I'm really liking it so far. I always prefer JRPGs but I do enjoy WRPGs. The only WRPGs that I really enjoyed were Fallout 3, and some Fable 2 and Oblivion. I'm glad to say that I'll add Mass Effect 2 to that list!
Also dabbled through some Stranglehold, which I picked up for $7 at Gamestop. It's a good game but it's one of those games where it's not worth spending $60 for it though.
And I'm done with Conan. I'm at the end and that final boss is just too cheap and frustrating. I give up. But hey, at least I made it to the end. It's also a 5-6 hour long game.
........
Oh, and I found the entire Age of Empires III series the other day. I want to install it on my PC and give it a go. But I haven't played RTSs for awhile. I always remember them being extremely time-consuming and difficult to get into. The thing about RTSs is the lack of control and constant micro-management when you play them. I love them but they can get a little frustrating and tedious.
Don't know if I should get into this or not. The Asian Dynasties looks great, though.

To participate meagrely for the first time in a while, this is what I've been playing
---
Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileDoes Mass Effect count as a WRPG? I played a couple of hours of the first one and it was more of a third-person action/ text adventure.
Stranglehold -- ah -- it probably looks a little old now -- especially compard to the likes of Uncharted. But back in the day i was amazed by the cinematography of it. On the bad side did you see that weird (I call it a glitch) when you shoot up fruit? It kind of shatters like you shot a stained glass window.
How is the in-game commentary in that one
How could I forget?!
I --ALSO-- finally played THIS MASTERPIECE ! ! !
AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!
If ANYONE gets this game for the PS3, they'll HAVE TO let me know immediately! I want to play it online with someone!
Scott Pilgrim is great for reminiscing. Shank is fun and has fluid animation. THIS game HAS IT ALL --PLUS-- ONLINE COOPERATIVE PLAY --PLUS-- The Behemoth's trademark, gut-busting HUMOR!
This is the kind of game I would DREAM about when I was in college!
Mass Effect 2 is definitely a hybrid. It does feel more like a third-person shooter. But I guess it's still a WRPG since BioWare and everyone says so!
And Stranglehold still holds up! I was impressed with the graphics and visuals. The gameplay is a bit dated, I guess, and Wet did it better. But I think it's still a good graphical showpiece for this gen.

I'm glad PS3 owners finally get to enjoy this!
Hope Limbo makes it over as well like Braid did.

Got a Logitech Dual Action gamepad for my PC. It comes with a profiler which allows you to map out any keyboard stroke to gamepad buttons. That way, I can play some of my Steam games which have no controller support, such as Beyond Good and Evil (
had to restart it, but the gamepad works like a charm) and KOTOR (KB/M is vastly superior, but I just can't get used to it for some reason. I still had to forfeit a few things to make things work with the gamepad).
All I played this weekend was Uncharted 2, but from now on it'll be BGE and KOTOR.
That is excellent news. So... it sounds like this could support pretty mmuch any game? This is one of the things holding me back from PC gaming (lack of uniform controllre support).
Yeah. You can map out any KB/M buttons to the gamepad. All you need to do is create a new profile for each game and assign the KB strokes to the pad buttons. Obviously it won't be as good with games that rely heavily on lots of keys such as RTS or strat games, but for games with a more streamlined approach to controls, I don't see how it can't work. KOTOR plays nicely, BGE plays great, GTA III plays good as well. I'm definitely getting other games I've postponed such as Psychonauts, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, and a few more that slip my mind.
As of now, I'm downloading Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines to see how it works.
Awesome -- I'll go check amazon. Is this the one?
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Dual-Action-Game-Pad/dp/B0000ALFCI/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1283750467&sr=1-1
Yeah, that's the one. If some of the user reviews at amazon are to be trusted, I hope the gamepad won't disintegrate on my hands, lol. It's the only type I saw at the store (incidentally, I wasn't even looking for anything, I just went to run an errand for my wife, then I saw a few of these hanging and picked one up in an impulse), although I guess you can order pretty much any pad from Amazon. I wonder if more advanced Logitech pads also come with the profiler program. I would think they do.
Reading a bit more, apparently the Rumblepad is a superior gamepad, although it is obviously pricier. Most people complain about the Dual Action's D-Pad, which definitely feels kind of flimsy and loose. However, I don't play fighting games with the D pad. Actually, I don't play anything with the D pad outside of menu choices and stuff like that. Probably that's why I'm not bothered with it.
Yeah, in all my years of loyal Logitech buying I've only ever been burnt once and that was with their Jumbo wireless XB controller (had battery issues). I only use the D-pad for menus as well, so not too worried.
It is kind of dumb for MS to take the colors off the buttons with their new controller.
Yay! My two auctions ended last night (Sunday), and both sold for more than I was hoping for.
I'm happy.
