"At one point a member of the audience asked about handing sequels off to other developers and mentioned Treyarch, with whom West and Zampella used to share Call of Duty development during their former life at Infinity Ward, and West put his head in his hands for comic effect."
Really? I mean let's say that everyone at Treyarch is terrible at what they do, is that the response that's professional? Or even helpful in the larger sense? This is what has bugged me about these two since the end credit song in MW1 which slagged off Treyarch. They were a sister-team, how does being a prick help anything?
For what it's worth, I didn't mind Treyarch's work at all -- in fact COD3 was just as enjoyable as COD2, and WaW was good as well. I have understood it in the past when Jaffewas critical of the people who took over Twisted Metal, or when Jason Rubin used to have a go at Vivendi with what they did after they sold Crash Bandicoot -- those games were terrible, but what's Treyarch done wrong?
They also did the DC version of the first Tony Hawk, which IIRC had a better critical reception than Neversoft's source material.
WTF
I don't think Treyarch were as good as Infinity Ward, but they were definitely a solid developer regardless. And maybe they're actually better than what they've shown up to this point...working on handed down projects and all. It can't be easy doing inspired work in those situations.
Now that Call of Duty is fully in their hands, they will become as good as IW was. We'll see. For what its worth, my nephews prefer World at War over Modern Warfare 2. I still haven't played World at War myself...been waiting for the price to drop which never seems to happen on COD games.
Edge, I saw World at War at Toys R Us for $19.99.

Just thought I let you know in case you're still interested.
I actually enjoy both equally. I still like WW2 shooters which is why I'm still having a blast playing World at War. Something about using more primitive weapons make the multiplayer experience more rewarding. I can easily get kills in MW2 with a assault rifle, but getting 100 kills with a bolt-action rifle makes it challenging.

Don't know if it's a permanent price drop but that's the cheapest I could find.
I think it is a permanent drop so you still have time if you still want it. Also, do what I do and print that page out, show it to Best Buys, and they'll price match it!

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
That's a good idea. I've never done that before!
As far as I'm concerned they're pretty much one in the same. War hasn't changed, and neither has CoD since the frist itteration.
I went to the zoo today. I haven't been to a zoo in about 25 years. It was fun, except for the heat, listless animals and all the uphill walking. I wanted to feed a giraffe (damn they're big!), and I did, so I am happy.
No it wasn't about RROD. I can't get one cause of money. And I chose a PS3 over a 360 cause I like the PS3 games more, and the free online. Now I am in the same mess, if I need to chose one I am going to chose getting a new or fixing my PS3 cause it has the games I want.
NEW ROTJ SCENE!!!!!!!
Gary Kurtz talks about the original ROTJ draft and his split with Lucas
The team of Lucas and Kurtz would not hold together during their own journey through the jungles of collaborative filmmaking. Kurtz chooses his words carefully on the topic of their split.
After the release of “Empire” (which was shaped by material left over from that first Lucas treatment), talk turned to a third film and after a decade and a half the partners could no longer find a middle ground.
“We had an outline and George changed everything in it," Kurtz said. “Instead of bittersweet and poignant he wanted a euphoric ending with everybody happy. The original idea was that they would recover [the kidnapped] Han Solo in the early part of the story and that he would then die in the middle part of the film in a raid on an Imperial base. George then decided he didn’t want any of the principals killed. By that time there were really big toy sales and that was a reason.”
The discussed ending of the film that Kurtz favored presented the rebel forces in tatters, Leia grappling with her new duties as queen and Luke walking off alone “like Clint Eastwood in the spaghetti westerns,” as Kurtz put it. Crystal Kurtz said that ending would have been a more emotionally nuanced finale to an epic adventure than the forest celebration of the Ewoks that essentially ended the trilogy with a teddy bear luau.
He was especially disdainful of the Lucas idea of a second Death Star, which he felt would be too derivative of the 1977 film. “So we agreed that I should probably leave.”
You should have tried dropping a Lynx into the Gorilla enclosure to see what happened.
I for one kind of like the teddy bear luau.
Bah, sell your PS3 games, and buy an Atari 2600 instead!
The all black "Vader" model, of course! It's as if you two were made for each other.
Well, the gorillas would have tossed away their crapy DSi consoles, and played Lynx instead! Toki!!!
