Also, apparently they had "sensor bar assist" (as in WSR) off at E3 due to all the lights. My guess is that was "on" for Miyamoto's demonstration and that's why it fucked up. Or maybe it was the initial calibration that was bad.

Sorry but I'm not convinced. The 2-D brawler died out for a reason. I don't really see any big change here, so I'm not seeing how it's the rebirth of an old genre. Throw in all the characters you want, at the end of the day its still just punching and kicking until the screen gets cleared of enemies until you move forward and do it all again. Maybe it'll be a hit with kids who like the cartoon, but I'm going to pass for now.

Steer clear.
I just read that Kinectimals is being developed by David Braben of Lost Winds fame.
So it will be awesome.
But also, WTF, Kinect cannot be played sitting down.
Two sources now.
Yeah I'm also not liking this talk about having to stand up to use Kinect. It's very disappointing to hear because I really like the idea of Kinect. I don't mind standing to play some games like sports games and the other obvious standing up ones but I'm hoping for some kinds of games with a bit of Kinect support plus regular controller mechanics ala Zelda Wii.

Yeah actually they are obsolete. Go back to Double Dragon. That game was made around 1987. 2-D brawlers are not remarkably different than that. There has never been a fundamental change in that genre after the idea of adding unique moves to separate characters. You can talk about other genres that have had ups and down, but what ups has the 2-D brawler had in the last 10 to 15 years? You can take shots at FPS, platformers, shooters and anything else but I can't think of a single other game genre that has remained so unchanged and so stale over such a long period of time.
I'm not claiming to be an expert on them, but I stay pretty familiar on "old-school" type games and I can't think of a brawler that's done anything innovative since maybe Maximum Carnage and that's going back at least 15 years. If I'm missing something by all means let me know, I might like to play it, but I can't think of a single recent bright spot in that genre.
