Are you serious? You rebuttal my entire comment defending your position and then you post that you're waving the white flag like I'm not supposed to respond to your rebuttal. Come on man.
First of all it's all about context, they are clearly sitting around having an opinionated discussion about how they feel about the game, they are NOT submitting a professional review on the game's merits. There is a difference. Don't be silly by saying "of course it's from her ... not Obama" because you should know well enough that's not what I mean. Saying something is "too cartoony" and saying "too cartoony for me" can be two clearly different contextual statements where as the first can easily mean a definitive stance that can be taken as fact.
So now she has to love SMG2 because she loves platformers? No. That's BS. Not every game is going to appeal to everyone regardless of their love for a particular genre. I could very likely say the very same thing for many games that you should like but don't even though they were rated higher by critics.
No I'm not saying things that are said should be critisized at all but they should be critisized for what they are and not seemingly cherry-picked words to cause effect. Her statement of SMG2 being too cartoony for her to get into and being a type of game she grew out of is in no way a "WTF!?" kind of comment as far as I'm concerned.
You wouldn't want to take away my right to critisize other people's critical statments made toward initial statements made by someone else now would you.

The Lost Planet 2 update sounds pretty good. I still plan on getting this game, probably in about another week's time.

I think it is a WTF comment. They are on a podcast or a show, whatever they are doing, she is a paid professional, what she just said is the equivalent of 10 year old idiot on gamefaqs message boards. Imagine you are watching Ebert do a review of a movie and he says "the movie was too brown. I don't know I could get into it, I don't like the color brown. Maybe if they added more green I could enjoy it." Nevermind the plot, acting, directing, everything that matters about the movie he just gets hung up on something that is pointless. Its also the equivalent of going into a Disney cartoon movie and saying "I wanted live action", hello you paid to see a cartoon.
If she were on our podcast I would have destroyed her. Is she entitled to her opinion, of course, but she spends like 2 minutes on the most idiotic point and no one really challenges her. My first response to her saying its too cartoony would be "what did you expect, its a Mario game". Then I would ask "what do you want it too look like". And then if she goes on about how its too kiddie for her I would basically say then "why play it?" I would have gotten to the real question faster than Adam, "WHAT ABOUT THE GAME", if she thinks it is more of the same that is fine. That is more in line with how an experienced gamer should react to a game. The way she presents her viewpoint is one where some dumb insignificant aspect has bothered her so much that she can't get over it and talk about the game and when it comes to discussing games I do not want to hear from someone like that.

How in the world is a game being "too cartoony" for one's taste to be able to get into a dumb insignificant comment? Answer, it's not. There's been games that you have said that while you can see how it's a great game and that you understand how people can like it there are certain aspects of it that make the game unappealing to you. Saying otherwise is a load of bullshit and hypocritical.
Sometimes there comes a time in a franchise that you just feel like moving so simply saying, "Oh well it's Mario, what did you expect" isn't a catch-all answer. She's obviously moved on. Again I say, So what? She's clearly not bashing the game they are just sitting around chatting wondering what each other actually feel about the game.
This is NOT the same as going into Disney cartoon movie and being disappointed it wasn't live action. This is more akin to going into a Disney cartoon movie and being disappointed it's theme was to child oriented.
Seriously how you guys can feel this is an offensive or even dumb comment to make on her part is beyond me.

Well yeah I don't really understand what she was saying about "not being 3D enough" but how in the world can the phrase, "too cartoony for her to get into" and it being "something she out grown" be dumb? I mean really what is the problem with that? And so what if she doesn't like the music. You mean to tell me you guy's have no games that while you can appreciate they're quality and the fact that they are regarded as great games by others that you couldn't get get into them through one aspect or another? I love different genres of games and music but I can't think of any where I like everything from those genres no matter how highly regarded they may be.
