Gamespy review Final Fantasy 13
4.5/5 - Thank goodness for the battle system, then, because it saves the game while you're wincing through the saccharine banter and waiting for the training wheels to spin off.

I did. I agree with a lot of it, but I don't agree that Goldeneye had superior single-player. In what way? To me PD was an improvement on Goldneye in every way. And they didn't say anything about the odd lighting in there.
It seems like an effect of bumping up the game to HD; In areas that are supposed to be lit by ceiling lights, it doesn't work right.
You know how the lights always had that strange shine? Like they thought at the time people would be impressed by it...almost like an early version of bump-mapping. Well now the shine is out of control, yet if you're not looking directly at them, the level will get really dark. Its odd.

Agreed.
For Raven:
The Zhu Zhu Fluffy Bunny shares all the attributes of the battery-powered hamster, including a sensor in its nose that prevents it from bumping in to obstacles.
I was getting my certification to be a volunteer fireman. I'm sure nothing will go wrong.

This game is #8 in my Gamefly Q. Can't wait to try it out...looks like the most interesting SH since Silent Hill 2.
Now just waiting for the install...
...yay...
Holy crap. I forgot that was coming out at the same time as FF.
Tri-Ace has obviously learned a lot from working with Square-Enix for a while as the cinema sequences and stylization of the world itself are really, really well done. The opening movies that start the game and set up the plot have that WOW! WTF just Happened! quality to them that hook you from the first second!
There is sooo much more to it than the typical RPG too. The active movement of the characters on the battlefield, the placing of energy hexes on the world-map grid to affect the world itself, just the RPG gun-play in itself is unique enough to pique my interest.
I can tell from the first few minutes alone that the battles are going to be hard-core in a way I haven't seen in yeeeeeaaarrrrssss. It's the kind of thing you just want to sink your teeth into and savor, as something like it won't come along all too often.
Sadly though, I can ALSO tell that being able to SUCCESSFULLY learn and play this game, it is going to have to be the type of game you need to play exclusively, giving it all the time, devotion and attention it obviously requires. This is not a bad thing by any means! It just means I am not going to be able to start it until I finish FFXIII. Hopefully THAT will happen in the next week or so and then I can tear into this game!
