Will play it tonight and I'll post my ever relevant (or irrelevant) thoughts!

I'm playing the 360 version and it looks good! I think it looks the same with the PS3 one but I'm sure there's slightly a difference if I put it side-by-side.
I know FMVs are more compressed and lower res in the 360 but as long as the in-game looks good and plays smoothly, it's good enough.
PS: Looks MUCH MUCH better than Dragon-Age and Oblivion. Japanese developers art style and details are just more pronounced and more masterful IMO.

That applies to all systems, there's no point in stating the obvious and universal as something Nintendo specific and beating around the bush like that instead of responding to most of what I said doesn't help your lacking arguments, it only makes the real motive behind them that much more obvious (as if we couldn't tell already)![Happy](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-smile.gif)
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.

Yet he also thinks that the PS3 sucks balls!
What?! Did we not have this discussion before? And did we not come to the conclusion that a powerful Wii would be a GC2 like success? Did we not determine that Nintendo's design philosophy required a cheap Wii?
Not that it matters, but how many discs ended up in the 360 version? (Just so I know for trivia reasons).
Once I fell asleep playing it. True story.
In my defense, I was tired.
Three disks. And it's odd because not all of them are maxed out with data. The first disk only fills 5.8 gb I think.

Well, I played a few hours of FFXIII and here's what I think so far:
Pros:
Cons:
Final Thoughts:
Overall, the game is enjoyable but I already know that it won't end up being my favorite FF in the series. But it's definitely not the worst *cough* FFVIII *cough*. The character of Lightning makes the game worth playing because she's a refreshing change to the bleach-blond male characters in recent FF games. FFVI will always be my personal favorite and it's the first FF with a female lead. So seeing Lightning as another female lead is what captured my interest the most.
The game is very accessible and I can't say whether that's a bad thing or a good thing. Why? Because the game is relaxing to play. You don't have to deal with the complicated mess in WRPGs for instance. It's one of those games where you just want to play it because you want to kick-back on a weekend or a sleepless night. After hours of playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, throwing a angry fit because of sniper spammers, cheap deaths, and getting kicked by EA's crappy servers, playing FFXIII afterwards is a nice change of pace to cool down. It's kind of a good feeling and therapeutic.
It kind of is like watching a movie. And I know I criticized the game of being as such, but playing it through, it's not as bad as I thought.
I will say this. Although the game could've been better, especially after 4 years in development, it's still worth playing as a FF and JRPG fan. Even though I won't take back or eat my words of concern or criticism toward Square-Enix, I do admit that the game does enough to keep me interested to play it through. That may sound like a contradiction, and I'm not hating on the game. But it's good, not great, but still a game I'm glad I bought, let's just say.
I think the game is a 9/10 just because the art, graphics, visuals, presentation, animation, character models are top-notch, and perhaps the most beautiful game I've played this gen. But when I brake it down as a JRPG...it's about a 7 to me, because it's not a game but more like a...I hate to say this again...a movie...but a good one, in a anime sort of way.
So a 9 because it's a FF game, but a 7 because it's really not...if that makes sense!
But at the end, because it's still a game I'm enjoying...I see myself giving it a 9.![cool.gif](http://img.gamespot.com/gamespot/shared/emoticons/cool.gif)

Just for an update for those of you who were wondering, the DSi did NOT survive it's bath. As near as I can tell, the battery was shorted out when it wet or something having to do with the charger. If I plug it in to be charged, the light flashes for half a second and then goes dark.
I believe the system is otherwise still functional, as not too long after I first dried it off, I did turn it on and was able to scroll through all the DSi games I had on it, but the battery was near dead at the time so I didn't mess with it too much. ANd now it just won't turn on or charge.
So now I'm off to find out if Nintendo would fix it or if I'm better off just buying a new system.
Wow, 6 pages to read.

Fuck man, Valve can port down an amazing looking PC game made for better tech in Half Life 2 down to the Xbox 1. And you played it on that system.![Nyaa](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
Let me guess what you're thinking here: "I had no choice, I didn't have a high tech PC". Well yeah and there are people out there who don't have a high tech PS3, but they do have a Wii.
Valve wont even make PS3 games either. It's just sad.
COD sold a sad fraction? We learned from a Treyarch dev that Wii version of COD3 was ported by 4 people from PS2 assets and it went on to sell over 1.3 million. Profit and loss, budget vs sales. Basic economics? We have four FPS that have sold over a million, add in other shooters like RE and we have six shooters, if they cost a quarter to make of an HD FPS and sell four times less. Do the math.
Economically, it's viable. Design wise its viable.
It's not that unusual for Wii not to win each month, even though sometimes it feels like it. How are we suppossed to get the Darth podcast groaning without it though?
Remember at the end of last year, the final 2009 analysis showed that like 75% of Wii hardware was sold in the final three months of the year and the yearly sales were only 5% down from 2008. Meanwhile all year you had people making comments about adjustments in expectations and all that. Then at the end it was like.... oh.
I stick to the 5 year lifecycle though and so I expect and want a new system at the end of 2011.
That Killer Whale who killed the Seaworld trainer... it affected sales. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Where were you trashing Xbox 1 when it was getting all the PC ports? You know those snobby PC guys on gamespot that you tried to ignore/were jealous of? Well you've essentially become one of them.
Just kidding D, I hope I haven't come across as aggressive or assholish, in any of this. Now that Iga has become an English hating bastard, you're the only friend I have left!
It's a slow burner, the original just came up shy of a million sales worldwide. Unfortunately in Europe at least they jacked up the price of the sequel.
WTF man?
You'd think we were back in the Demon's Soul thread.
To answer aspro, I was finishing Heavy Rain and playing some Plants vs Zombies. I might make a thread on it. Very cool game.
WTH I just checked ebay, my copies of Spirit Tracks and Another Code Wii, unsold. They are that unwanted.
Because he has a lot of chins.
Yeowch. We don't post like that around these parts bud. Well except for that ass Iga.![Nyaa](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
(I wuv u Karate man!)
I can see what Vader means, I think everyone would like to wii to be on the same level as other systems, its just that I can see why its the tech it is and why its priced the way it is and why something that was so risky, almost had to be brought out at the level it is and the price it is. We keep going back to this hypothetical situation where the Wii was released at a similar tech and similar price to the other systems.
(Oh if only Nintendo had been so forward thinking)
And the question keeps coming back: would it have sold as well? And my answer is always that the success was part and parcel of the price point which they could only acheive with the lower tech, combined with the marketing and new fad aspect. What if for instance the PS3 had launched with Move? We looking at $699 price tags here? Or condering that this tech was newer and more expensive 4 years ago, more?
I can make you sleep.
Permanently.
I would actually pay money to prevent someone from playing those games.
