The hail was awesome! Biggest in years.
Yikes, (I see no pic btw) hope all your stuff is ok.
The star of the demo is the combat. The character in the story is all about lightning fast kicks, it feels so different. Then there is a separate battle mode where you play as all four characters. Each has a distinct combat style. One guy is all about deflections and counters. One guy is a brute so he can pick up all sorts of heavy objects and enemies. Then there is Kazuma which is the usual perfect balance. All of them have their own special moves and such. I loved it, screw Yakuza 3, I want Yakuza 4.
I rode a gas canister into the air, so awesome. I am getting a bit better at tying enemies up with the grapple but I still wish it was easier. I did the one main mission which was excellent. The ending had me grappling from a helicopter onto a convoy of trucks, hop on one truck, kill the enemies and jump to the next one. Once you reach the front it becomes a chase for you to get a witness quickly back to base. I know there is also an airplane checkpoint race as well and tons of other towns to visit. It's a lot of fun.
The scale is incredible and the variety in vehicles is impressive. Things unlock kind of by gaining exp, except it is not exp it is chaos points. It seems like the game will constantly be giving you a new item or mission to keep things fresh.
My only complaint is still the shooting which isn't so bad now that I played it some more but it does lack any kind of like, I don't know how to describe, any kind of strategy. I find myself simply running around and spraying enemies. Yeah I use a grapple here and there but it is a bit slow to use it at times, for the time it takes you to grapple one guy toward you or attach him to a canister or something you could have shot him and another guy. If they only nailed the gunplay as well we could have had something REALLY special. Still this is going to be one hell of a sandbox game.
=-= alright, enough typing for the day, (new reviews up), I'm off to play Baldur's Gate.
Oh totally. Everything's fine, except thinking that it was going to be hot - I left my windows open in my car. I came back an hour later, and the front interior was soaked.
This is what the world thinks of the Mexican video game market?!
Poor Steel. Poor, poor Steel...
Did Edgecrusher write that?
So I just played over an hour of Silent Hills Shattered memories. Wow, wow, wow, wow.
Firstly, in the store the PSP and PS2 version took prominence at the front of the store. And the Wii version was on the back wall on the bottom shelf. And they had two copies.
Way to go!
The game so far though is good. Really, really, really, really good. If it continues like this I think the only thing that will bring it down is if it ends too soon.
Will post impressions in the thread, eventually.
Oh yeah, Aspro. Oh man, I can't believe you're missing out on the IR torch.
It sounds so weird to be talking about a torch mechanic but its freaking AWESOME.
Oh and you can even write on the map like a DS game with the stylus. So cool.

Don't forget to call some numbers, they add to the atmosphere. Especially handwritten ones - more interesting than the ones on posters. And you can ask me about anywhere you might get stuck at but I can only think of maybe one place. I would say not to rush through it either, soak up the atmosphere, look for the momentos. Have fun.
