HOLY. FUCK!
I just earnestly tried to kill the Raptor-like monster and...
...WOW...
The last 20 minutes have completely cemented this game for me and has shown how utterly UNLIKE everything else this game truly is!
The monster was nothing but fierce at first. It runs around with a pack of its young and going anywhere near them makes YOU the prey! I threw down some poisoned meat first. That didn't work, it was entirely focused on me. I lost to it quite a few times. I LOVE how you are unceremoniously dumped (literally) back at your camp when you are defeated!
Went back again and equipped some paralysis knives. Hit it once and it staggered for a second. Killed a few of its young. It came lashing at me with its tail twice as angry as it was before. Got a few more strikes on it, killed the rest of its young, it retreated to another zone.
Followed it there. Got killed again. Dumped. Worked my way back. Five minutes left on the clock. Threw some more knives; they appear to have a bit of a compounding affect; it's head reeled as I landed a few more blows. It went down and starting writhing on the floor. I mistook this as death throes and let down my guard.
It sprang back to its feet and came after me again. Noticeably slower than before. It was fatigued! Used a few potions, determined to beat it before time ran out. Landed a few more blows. It turned around. LIMPED away. I couldn't believe the realistic motion I was seeing. It got far enough away from me at that point and retreated into a hole I could not follow it into, to another zone. The demo ended.
You have to plan for each battle. You need to evade, block and use your resources wisely. You need to be a hunter. You need to pursue your prey. These battles are NOT easy. No "hit the red spot three times to kill your foe" here! This game is gonna make you WORK and EARN your victories. Throw in the gathering, crafting and online questing. Damn! Damn! Damn!
I can't believe this is on the Wii!
Yay!
It looks pretty deep and intricate to me, and I like that. The Wii NEEDS more games like this.
How are the graphics to you guys who have played it? In vids it looks like one of the few games that won't get laughed at by Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy.

while the pessimist fears this is true.

The demo just throws you in without any gameplay explanation.
From the previews I've read it sounds like the proper game takes things very easy on you whilst you learn with a gentle curve.
This pic will stir Ecco lovers loins.
Looks awesome!
Updates done, lots of FF13 reviews.
Infinity ward guys wanted to defect, back to EA?
What world are you living in?
I think you're being pretty nitpicky about my wording, especially considering that I clearly stated I was talking about the demo in the very first sentence of my full comment.
It really doesn't matter to me if the retail game starts out easier than the demo or not. My primary issue is not with the difficulty but with the poor controls, which I feel make the game very frustrating. If the game controlled a bit more like a Twilight Princess, then I'd be having a lot of fun with it. Unfortunately, that's not the case. You guys have fun with the game if you like it. Me, I'm going to play something that doesn't make me want to tear my hair out, and curse the screen.
Calm down man I'm not being nitpicky. I'm just pointing out that while the demo may throw you into the deep end like you said, the proper game doesn't.
I'm not down with this game anyway, it looks a little intimidating to me.

Thats a problem with demos isn't it? If the game isn't properly introduced, or representative of gameplay, or if its a game that takes time to appreciate, learn or get into?
I managed about 10 minutes of the FFCC Life as a Darklord demo before calling it quits. Demos need to grab you easily and keep you there for a decent experience, like a nice starter. If the starter isn't decent then it puts you off the rest of the meal.
Anyhow I'm into the 5th case in Miles Edgeworth, I quite liked the 4th case, although not as much as the 3rd. I think this gameplay style is my preferred method of playing the series now, third person and being able to walk about and examine things. I sort of miss and don't miss the courtroom. The courtroom is very representative of the final stages of justice, when the detective work is done, you have the court case to follow. In this game it seems like some of the bad guys give it up too easy in the end, just admitting everything, sometimes based on really weak evidence.
"Okay I give up, it was me ahahahahaha! And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you pesky prosecutors."
The end of case 4 had a joke that had me cracking up, when Gumshoe said he was going to stick with Edgeworth and then Edgeworth's reaction
There are some frigging GEMS of dialogue hidden away when you investigate some stuff. Like when Edgeworth challenges his own reflection or when he talks to a guy trying to get on camera in a live news feed.
I think this is a pretty great Ace attorney game on the whole, probably above Apollo Justice so far, at least. I might even prefer it to number 2.
If I were EA, I wouldn't take them back. Battlefield is the new MW2, and these clowns from Infinity have proven to be disloyal jerks.
New PODCAST IS UP
Plus isn't EA LA doing the Modern warfare Medal of honor now?

Alan Wake developer Remedy has told CVG that the game - a first episode in a planned series - will end on a 'cliffhanger'.
The studio informed us in a new interview that the denouement of the title will "keep the tension high" for gamers - leaving them wanting more.
Writer Sam Lake told CVG: "We really feel there needs to be a satisfying conclusion [to the first game]. But at the same time, it needs to end in kind of a cliffhanger - and we need to open doors for a larger story beyond this one.
He added: "I think a good cliffhanger is always your friend - it keeps the tension high. That episodic structure of Alan Wake means you can always end the episode a couple of minutes or a few seconds before things are resolved [to make people want more]."
However, Lake has also told us that the studio is not yet sure how the full Alan Wake story will end.
WIll we have to wait the same amount of time for the next 'episode'...after a cliffhanger?!
Gaminggeek: You're not getting Monster Hunter? I was hoping you were and we could hook up for some online action finally, as this seemed like one game that could finally unite us online!

Final Fantasy 13 reviews: Sounding good, but WTF is a tube?!
Vanquish having no multi-player: THANK YOU!! Finally someone making a single-player focused shooter, and one that has actual originality to it! THANK YOU MIKAMI!!!!
Red Steel 2: Looking really good.
Crysis 2 screens: Looks fucking amazing. I'm sure the game really does look that good, as Crysis is still the best looking game!! This is going to blow every shooter away if it plays like the first game. Its gonna make Resistance, Killzone, and Call of Duty look like a joke. Only one I can see matching it is Halo Reach if it plays as good as it looks to.
