Ubisoft has confirmed the existence of a new Prince of Persia game subtitled The Forgotten Sands.
The game will be released "on consoles and handhelds" in May 2010, and feature elements you'll recognise from the Sands of Time series and exciting new elements you won't.
We spotted this in October when series creator Jordan Mechner filed a trademark to protect the name.
The game falls neatly alongside the Hollywood interpretation of the IP, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and will be released on 28th May 2010.
But, just six months away from release, this announcement arrives unusually late.
The Sands of Time series spanned three games, POP: The Sands of Time (brilliant), POP: Warrior Within (decent) and POP: The Two Thrones (good).

Awesome Legend of Halo video.
Yashiro Wada Interview
Are you satisfied with the level of sales for No More Heroes on Wii? Do you still feel the Wii as an appropriate platform for gamer- oriented games?
I am satisfied with the sales of the Wii version to a point, but I don’t think that it really proves the limits of Wii. Monster Hunter Tri is selling well on the Wii after all, but we just are not able to create that kind of content at the moment. To be clear, I’m not admitting defeat. I am constantly striving to ever make better games.
Why have you given the development of these ports to Feelplus instead of Grasshopper Manufacture?
GHM is focusing on No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, and I’ve heard that they have another big project in the works, but I don’t know any details. Personally, I’d rather GHM create a brand new original title than a remake. Also, Feelplus has experience working on next-gen systems with Lost Odyssey, so that's another reason I’m confident they can provide a high-quality remake. By the way, Suda 51 will be involved in this project in the role of creative consultant.
The original game was focused on the use of the Wii Remote. How are you going to adapt that central design to the standard controls of PS3 and 360? Have you considered the newly announced motion controllers, like 360's Natal?
Well, since the concept for the remake is to bring the game to a wider audience, we aren’t currently considering to use uncommon new technology. Basically everything will be controlled using the analog controller. We are reworking the control scheme to improve the sense of being in the game.
What challenges has making those ports presented? Are you planning to make use of their network features?
Since we are remaking an SD game into an HD game, most of the models, graphics, and textures are being remade from scratch. In the future, if we are able to put out something truly new in the future, we’d like to include in-depth online functions.
Ubisoft, which published the original No More Heroes outside Japan, has already made clear it won’t be publishing these remakes overseas.
I think what Ubi announced was that it intends to focus on promoting No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. NMH is currently our only HD title, but Ubi has a number of strong titles, so I don’t think it was a foregone conclusion. Thinking about the game’s vision, I would say that even though we have confidence in the game, I’ll leave it up to the end users to decide what they think the vision is.
That's gay.
But why is it in slow motion?
2010!
I assume it's running slow because it takes a lot of processing power to emulate the Wii hardware at 1080p resolution.
Ah I was wondering what the deal was with these new 360 game cases. I first noticed it with Dragon Age and thought it was just EA being cheap. Then noticed it with Modern Warfare 2. It's cool there thinking about the environment but I worry about something punching a hole through the cover. I treat my stuff with kid gloves though so that will likely never happen.
Yep, nothing like looking after then enviroment by selling plastic discs in cardboard that runs on power consuming metal and plastic consoles!
Can't wait!

Holy shit! I'm checking out a bunch of videos of Dante's Inferno on XBLM and they are fucking incredible. They're a bunch of dev diaries on the various stages, circles of Hell, and there is one which is a cinematic trailer. I'm going to say right now that there is absolutely no way that this won't be a 9.0+ game.
Give a review for this one as soon as you can. I've been wondering if this was going to be any good or not.
