Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileI got to play some of it, its CoD4. I loved it back then as it was my first CoD game but having played that one and CoD5 the formula is getting a but tiresome. Very linear, very strict but non-stop action. Again it looks like this game will have tons of variety in the missions you go on which is one of my favorite aspects of CoD4. I got to play the snow level, the Aliens motion sensor thingy was a cool gimmick. I love that you can do it very stealthy or just go rambo. The jetski segment was a bit of a let down. Yeah you get to control it, weaving through trees but the shooting aspect is non existant. Basically you press a button and the character automatically shots and blows up an opposing jetski. The co-op stuff looks like it will be a ton of fun. It can be played offline as well as missions with specific goals where you get ranked on your skill. That will probably be a mode I would spend most of my time on. Competitive seemed to not be working.
Vader, good reporting there. Yeah look at those reviews flood in now.
Sounds like a big non-plus -- I have COD4, which I'll replay if the urge comes, but Activision can have this one.
Oops I meant snow mobile, same thing, just on frozen water.

My internet connection is like mud today.
Anyhow, before I leave you, I played Fallout 3 last night.
It was the most boring couple of hrs of gaming EVER.
I spent ages configuring my character face, wasted time as a baby. Hell if I were to ever play a Baby Simulator I thought it would be on Wii![Nyaa](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
Then I waste time at a childrens party doing pointless bullshit. Watching pointless chit chat, pointlessly shooting a rat with a bb gun.
Then take a GOAT test, what a fucking waste of time! It said I was a scientist/explosives guy and then when I disagreed it let me just change it. Why waste my time with the test when I can do it from that fricking menu in the first place? So then my father escapes the valut and the girl hands me a gun.
I pick up a BB gun and a baseball bat too and fumble about with no map in the dark, with this ASS radar system with security guards shooting and beating me with batons. And for some godforsaken reason I cannot even equip any of the items I picked up, instead being relegated to Queensbury rules fisticuffs.
ASS.
That's weird about not equipping things. Should get better now taht you're past the opening, though.
I think no one is answering cause we're not exactly sure what you mean. I didn't see anything any more hammy and over the top macho in the trailers than any other RPG in creation.
You start with your character's humble beginnings; in my case I was a Mage that started out with his initiation rite in the Circle of Mage's tower. You kind of get a dark Harry Potter kind of mood, as there are a lot of young mages in a magic school-type atmosphere talking about this rite and whether or not they'll be able to pass it. It's a lot darker, as you'll find religious zealots around the school and mages dabbling in blood magic. Also, if you don't want to take the rite, you become magically "lobotomized" --or-- if you DO take the rite and fail, you are killed. Can't quite picture Dumbledore "offing" Harry Potter, but I think you get the idea.
Certain characters join your party depending on where you go. I'm assuming you get a variety of members depending on your starting point and choice of races, but the characters I have in my party Alistair (hottie) and Morrigan (hottie... for a woman) constantly insult each other; it can be really funny at times! Alistair is kind of a goofball to begin with, so he is constantly giving Morrigan fodder to abuse him anyway. Morrigan is a sexy but snooty (Witch of the Wild) Mage, who's both tempting and stand-offish at the same time, who is CONSTANTLY pushing you towards the darker or crueler moral choices in the game... Want the woman? Prepare to do some questionable things or spill some blood in the process of getting her! You have approval ratings from each of the characters and what you decide to do will change the way they act towards you. My approval rating with Morrigan actually went DOWN when I fell into the old rpg trappings of going around the first village doing lots of side-quests to help the villagers with their numerous problems!
Overall the game has a VERY Lord of the Rings air to it. Demons from the Underworld, Political Betrayal... blah, blah... BUT the characters come across as way more human as they all have their quirks and faults, wants and wishes, secret plans and humble beginnings. Hell, I took a side-quest in the first Grey Warden's base specifically so I could get a DOG in my party! [ I named him Puggsworth... only because Mister Pugglesworth wouldn't fit in the name selection box
! ]
Over the top and macho? Yeah, it has it's moments. Don't let that dissuade you from playing this game though! If the overarching story turns you off, the human aspects and freedom of choice within the game play should draw you right back in!
So does anybody know when the next "buy 2, get 1 free" sale is, and where? My girlfriend needs to know so X-mas shopping purposes!
Those Buy 2, get 1 Free sales are usually to clear out stock for the holidays --OR-- to clear out excessive stock from the holidays.
I wouldn't expect to see one now until February at the earliest or Springtime at the latest.
Got to admit, a Boy and His Blob has actually been a pretty fun game. I popped it in last night and meant to play for about 20 minutes and wouldn't you know it, when I stopped playing a little over an hour had gone by. I'd say that's a pretty good sign.
The game has a couple pretty big flaws (a narrative, even a boring one, would have made this game amazing), but at the end of the day you can tell that the game was made with love. No one working on this game ever considered it a job. You can just tell it by looking at it. I'll toss up some more impressions later, but I am very pleasantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying this. I honestly expected it
Robio Said: Yesterday I did something difficult - very difficult actually - and I'm rather proud of myself. I didn't buy A Boy And His Blob? Impressed? You should be.
I was running some lunchtime errands and had to hit Subway for lunch and then Starbucks for the wife. And wouldn't you know, there's a Gamestop in between the two stores. So I popped my head it, and A Boy and His Blob was staring right at me. Talk about temptation. The game looks really good. . . AND it's only $40!! What a deal. And that's when the problem started.
I'm in a very rare situation right now where I actually have a backlog. Not a huge one, but I was given a few older games by a friend last week, Super Paper Mario and RE: UC. Couple that with the cheap copy of de Blob I picked up a while ago, and of course my replaying of Harvest Moon: MM and I'm not exactly in a position where I need a new game. Plus I've got Lost Winds and the new Harvest Moon both on the horizon in coming weeks.
Needless to say I was in a tough position. Somehow though common sense managed to override my gamer's instinct and I put the game back on the shelf. I'm quite proud. Of course if I manage to cruise through these games in a matter of a few days. . . well we'll just see what happens then.
I laugh at your pathetic attempt to resist! HA! HA!
FOOL! Don't you know Resistance of the Blob is FUTILE!
Stare at his little blue eyes and your soul belongs to him!
He may seem all friendly and lovable, dragging his little boy-slave all over creation!
Little does the Boy know, those Jellybeans are little fruity nuggets of COSMIC POWER!
The Emperor Blob is slowly but surely gathering his power, biding his time until his ultimate chain-saw transformation, where he will disembowel "Boy" and start his bloody REIGN OF TERROR!
First Planet Earth, Next the Galaxy, then the UNIVERSE WILL. BE. HIS!
There's been a lot of old-school games like this recently. You got Braid, that Machinarium game or whatever its called....seems like the whole scene has been revived.
I was thinking Toys R Us was due for one, no?
Toys R Us just had one not too long ago.
The Wii has been home to a really good Blob revival. First we had de Blob and now A Boy And His Blob. World of Goo was pretty big and let's face it, and it was all because of the Goo Blobs. And plus Wario is a fat fuck and his game wasn't half bad so he could probably count as a blob.
LMFAO its all SO true!
