NOW YOU'RE PLAYING WITH POWER!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
Bethesda are aweosme. Oblivion was full of niggling problems for me that made me think it was rather lacklustre in the end, but Morrowind is one of my favourite games of all time, and I cannot wait to play Fallout 3! Might give Oblivion another go too, when I'm not using Oldblivion!
Pretty much. Nintendo made their choice. Either have a console powerful enough to being able to decently get multiplatfs from the other platforms while still selling the console at a slight profit, or have the console very low end and try to attract developers through the cheap development costs and sell the console for a ton of profit. This really backfired at them. Normally a regular company would just convince publishers to make games on their console, but this is Nintendo we are talking about here. Nintendo is just terrible at third party relations. Hell for an example just look at Fatal Frame 4 even Tecmo doesn't have any idea what's going on with it. Or look at how Wiiware developers need to sell around 1,500 copies in America just to get paid for their sales in that region. Or look at how Nintendo rarely reaches out for developers and publishers (from what I recall Microsoft helps fund some games to be exclusive to their platform which I think was the case for Star Ocean 4). Nintendo just has to get over their ego and get with the times. It isn't third parties jobs to convince themselves to develop for the Wii, but rather Nintendo's.
The thing is though is that neither of those games have the marketing push Nintendo's titles do. And neither of them (possibly but Boom Blox which has done well) have that much appeal. Madworld was bound to fail, I mean just look at it, House of the Dead is well House of the Dead and has done pretty well for itself, Deadly Creatures lulz spiders. I definatley do think that the Wii isn't the best for the 15-35 year old male demographic but that doesn't mean that such a market is non-existant for it.
One of the site's forefathers.
Play fighting games!
Yes I eventually got a PS3 because I like variety. But I wouldn't be perfectly content with a PS3 just like I wasn't perfectly content with a wii.
Oh, and when I did get the PS3, so far there's only been one game that was meaningfully improved with better hrdware than the PS2 had.
I find it funny that poeple always bring up the niche games to prove their point with regards to hardcore games not selling. Seriously were are the games like Deadly Creature, Little King's Story, Boomblox and Muramasa on the HD consoles? They aren't, most of these niche games would not even be made on the HD consoles, because of the development costs. Look at the sales number of Banjo Kazooie, most jRPGs they aren't doing well for themselves. Look at the expected sales of Marvelous, if it was not for the Wii they would be exclusively selling for the handhelds.
There you go, the Wii is different and people have different tastes. Niche games FTW.
Vader you did not answer the question! I take it you gave up an accepted that Nintendo had to do what they have done?
Punk check out the state of Wiiware thread, you might be surprised!
I didn't answer the question cause you are trying to change the subject. Yes by going the cheap route they became kings. So in a way its a trap, if they were just like the other consoles they wouldn't be first place or at least not as far in the lead as they are now. But because they changed they created a barrier for the average third party game.
The good thing is that the Wii gets its own set of games, which is awesome for me cause I have my HD system that gets a certain group of games and my Wii that gets another. The issue is some Wii only owners want to have it all, those are the people I am talking about. The ones wondering why RE5 or SF4 or Mirror's Edge or Fallout 3 (any third party HD game) are not on the Wii. They got to understand that this is what happens when you go the cheap hardware route, they were going to lose a ton of those games. Nintendo seems fine with it, they are rolling in money. It seems like people want the wii regardless of it missing out of those third party games.
Tonights UFC was kind of weird. Chuck Liddell is done, that fight was almost sad, he got KOed but some reaching hook. Some of the other cards were cool.
The Silva fight WTF. It was funny at times cause Silva just toyed with that other guy. But overall it was so boring. I totally blame that pussy who was fighting him, he kept dropping to the floor.
Anyone up 4 some Sunday Animal Crossing? It's 9am here.
No, I kept asking questions, to come to an conclusion that you seem to share. If Nintendo went the more powerful route they could have ended with being a Gamecube sales wise and they still would not have the major 3rd party support. So saying that it's Nintendo's fault why they are not getting 3rd party support is not really fair, because making a more powerful console would not guaranteed bigger 3rd party support. Nintendo has to do what's best for them and they did, nothing more nothing less. They are in a dammed if you do and dammed if you don't situation there. Having a Wii that is poweful as 360 and selling as much as the Wii is currently, is basically a pipe dream.
That is awesome for everbody, having 3 consoles with a similar library is not good. The problem is not that those games do not come out on the Wii, the problem is that most 3 parties have nothing else on the Wii or something crappy. If Capcom kept releasing games like Zack and Wiki no one would complain. Check out Square, they are making Dragon Quest X and Crystal Beares while the HD consoles have FFXIII. I am not complaining there, no one is. But games like Dead Rising Chop till you fuck up? Now there's a problem. Having less powerful hardware is no excuse for being lazy. That shit did not fly for the DS or the Gamecube , so it shall not fly for the Wii either.
But the fact that big western 3rd party as not touching the Wii is not really surprising. If you try to disrupt the industry you will also disrupt the developers. But in bad news there is also some good news. The fact that the big 3rd party are ignoring the Wii, the smaller one are picking up the slack. THQ with de Blob and Deadly Creature, Platinum with Madworld, Marvelous with Arc Rise Fantasy and Little King's Story, High Voltage with Conduit. So these small companies might grow and become big companies in the future, again this is good news. And games like No More Heroes have to sell as little as 300k to get a sequel. Again good news.
Dammit why is no one using the MMA thread I made
Vader check out Shogun's Pride fight and be glad that he is back. That guy is freacking awesome.
And the silence is defeaning.

BTW, I know I start these whole eternal Wii debate things every now again with my uber bitching. But we've gone over it again and again and we hardly every agree on anything or have any resolution so anything I say will be stuff I've said already and I can't be bothered to go through it guys.
