If only other developers took note that in order to have you game look, feel, and be truly next gen you have to put the emphasis on detail in the environment and not making things more shiny and shady.
One of the site's forefathers.
Play fighting games!
Apparently, you missed my little attempt at humor last week?
So fucking true. Everyone seems to rely on bloom excessively now.
I'll do a few updates now.
I hope people are tracking this:
The new trailer is pretty cool (Fridays updates)
Now THAT is detail.
I'm not that impressed because Shenmue + a little resolution boost looks awesome. How can they make 3 Yakuza games and not finish the Shenmue trilogy?? Bastards.
Look at these Shenmue pics via PC. And AM2 had chunky arcady japanese visuals mastered years ago, have you seen the original Saturn footage of Shenmue? It's like watching that Dead Space Xbox 1 video.
Anyhow, I love Shenmue.
And now it all makes sense!
A few COnduit scans
I really dont know.
You're on a roll. Shit they on railed DQ Swords and that Katana game. Basically anything they can on rails. As for mature Wii games, Red Steel, Metroid Prime 3, RE4, RE UC all sold over a million. I don't know WTF is going on. Just that SEGA has really got a huge set at the moment, funding Madworld and taking one of their classic franchises and swearing it up with vulgarity, publishing Conduit and putting maximum production values behind Sonic and the Black Knight.
I agree with you on Madworld, that is a tough sell for a black and white game. I think that lightgun games work on Wii because you dont need any extra peripherals and that if they were on 360 etc, people would probably get FPS instead. It's not like they are FPS starved.
What? Where? I hope you are putting this stuff in the forum!
Nice impressions, I put up a Noby boy interview somewhere in the updates. I always wanted to play Yakuza, feel like Nagoshi screwed me. Nothing but Monkeyball on GC and Wii and then ships off Yakuza to PS2 only? Why not at least make it PS2/GC back then? SFIV I can do without, I like that it has SF2 gameplay so its not over complicated and too demanding like some modern 3-D fighters. But seeing some of the same characters and same backgrounds just make me feel like saving the money and just downloading the old games.
Did you really expect RE5 to be completely amazing AAA quality without those key guys on it? Its like having some twit take over movie director duties for Peter Jackson or something. This is what I've been expecting of it since....well, since before they even showed the first trailer on the 360.
Gamespot's Tenchu review: LOL....G-spot is fucking hopeless these days man. They suck soooo bad now that its embarrassing and sad. Yeha its not the best game in the world, but its far better than the 5.0 they gave it. See the press average next to their score of 7.1? THAT's pretty much spot on.
Dvader Yakuza 3 demo: WTF? Do I have to get a Japanese account?
I'd like to see a list of all the Teen/Mature games that have sold at least 500k on Nintendo hardware since Gamecube came out (and we all know there was big ones on the N64 as well). I think it would be something these idiot publishers should look at because it would completely void their gay little tests of the audience.
The main guys at Capcom are now the Onimusha producer and Jun Taekuchi the guy who ported RE4 to PS2? I read in a review that RE5 has the exact same animation as the ganados in RE4? I mean when I saw the video so long ago I thought they were placeholder animations?
I was going to ask you and Leo about the Tenchu review. Leo impressions?
I posted a video of the Yakuza 3 demo, check it.
I was just looking up sales, roughly from VGChartz. To put things in perspective Lost Planet and Dead Rising sold 1.8 million each on 360 and probably cost 3 times as much. Remember Lost Planet had a $40 million spend, you can google that. Oh and Dead Space is at 600'000 on PS3, 870'000 on 360. So combined, 1.47 million. Extraction has a good shot out outselling them both combined. That's sad and yet indicitive of the sales you can achieve on Wii at a much lower cost. EA has been quietly raking in the cash on MySims games.
RE4 1.68 million
Prime 3 sold 1.5 million
RE UC 1.3 million
Red Steel 1.09 million with a very small launch userbase
Force Unleashed 1.16 million, PS3 version is 1.1 and 360 version is 1.6 million
COD WOW is now at 850'000 and rising
HOTD 2&3 is at 900'000 I own this.
Rabbids 2 1.6 million
Sega superstar tennis 840'000
MySims 1.4 million
Rock Band 1.2 million
Lego Indy 1.09 million, which is twice as much as PS3 yet 1/3 of 360 sales.
Shaun White 960'000 and rising, almost twice as much as the 360 version.
Carnival games 3.1 million?!
Guitar Hero world tour 2.5 million
Sonic and the Secret Rings 2 million? Combined 360/PS3 sales of Unleashed is 830'000, Wii version of Unleashed is at 800'000 alone.
Animal Crossing is over 3 million now the VGChartz figure is wrong.
Endless Ocean 960'000
Boom Blox 870'000
Mario Kart 14.5 million
Mario Galaxy 7.8 million More platformers please
Wii play 21 million
De Blob 560'000, deserves far more, why haven't you fuckers bought this game yet?
Sadly Elebits and Zack and Wiki are around the 300'000 + mark.
Wii sports 42 million
Smash Bros 8.27 million
Mario Sonic 6.8 million
Mario Party 8 6.8 million
Twilight Princess 5.2 million more adventure games please.
Guitar Hero 4 million
There are tons more, check out VGChartz.com and filter by wii then sort by sales.
Just checked Prince of Persia sales, the most recent game.
360 750'000
PS3 700'000
Combined 1.45 million? Really when Umbrella Chronicles on Wii sells near to the combined total of these two versions, you are looking at some serious reasons for showing Wii more love.
Banjo Nuts and bolts 530'000 worldwide.
Just looked at the PS3 list. The highest selling game is GTA IV at 5.4 million, MGS4 at 3.88 million. Compare that to the top selling wii games, Wii Sports 42 million, Wii play 20 million-ish.
Okay discount the pack ins. Mario kart is near 15 million, Smash bros near 9 million.
Hey Uncharted did well at 2.6 million
COD WOW outsold the Wii version by 3:1
Once you reach a certain point, number 16 down on the list your sales of big budget games drop to Wii levels, Rachet and Clank 1.6 million, Heavenly Sword 1.4, Fallout 3 1.2 million.
Got to remember that these games cost far more than their Wii equivalent so your profit and loss is different. It's still pretty healthy though.
Yup. Make one nao.
Okay looking at 360 list now.
Halo 3 the top selling game at 9.09 million. We talk about juggernaughts yet the near 15 million sales of Mario kart are ignored. Wow this industry. Still 360 when it comes to focusing sales in a small number of titles for success? It's a star. Wii has actually sold more units of 3rd party software overall, but the sales are spread over many, many titles. 360 is a hardcore gamer focused star
COD4 at 7 million
GTA IV 6.8 million
Gears 5.85 million
COD WOW 4.8 million
Gears 2 4.5 million
Ass Creed 4.4 million, seriously given reviews how did this do so well?
Forza 2 4.37 million
Lego Indy close to 3 million
Oblivion 2.64 million
Great sales but the best selling, high profile Wii games do as well, better even. Smash Bros 8 million tops COD4, Galaxy tops it too. Zelda is above Ass Creed etc. So they are comparable but then we start thinking of 1st party vs 3rd party. Halo 3, the Gears games, Forza are all first party right? Well not bungie anymore but those are all first party published games.
Now here is where things get interesting, the no 12 bestselling 360 game is Marvel Ultimate Alliance? What? 2.57 million and just 100k under that is Kung Fu Panda.
Fable 2 2.5 million
Just scanning through for interest now....
Mass Effect and Bioshock tied at 2.31 million a piece? So only 300k above Sonic and the Secret Rings? And outsold by Carnival games 3 million. Ahhhhhhhhhhh
GRAW and Rainbow 6 both at about 2.24 million. Really looking at the single platform sales of these big, huge AAA games, this is not far off what Wii sales could achieve if they gave the games the same priority and marketing and didn't make them little brother versions.
Saints Row 2 million
Fallout 3, 2 million and rising
Viva Pinata 1.85 million, it did quite well I say
SEGA Superstar tennis 1.85 million, that's a million over Wii, not suprising when the Wii version was gimped with no online and bad motion controls. Plus Wii tennis is a pack in.
The aforementioned Lost planet and dead rising at 1.8 million
Army of Two 1.7 million
Far Cry 2? Huh, 1.2 million close to Red Steel numbers.
GRAW 2 1.5 million outsold by RE4 Wii port
DMC 4 1.2 million
SCIV 1.14 million
Ninja Gaiden 2 990'000, on par with Endless Ocean?
Orange Box 940'000
Lost Odyssey 890'000
I mean now you start seeing big games like that not reaching a million? We are so caught up looking at combined sales of multiformat titles that we don't really see that invidual platform sales aren't as fantastic as we think. And then it makes more sense for lower cost high profile wii games to be made.
Mercenaries 2 800'000? HOTD 2 and 3 port raked in 100k more.
Kameo 730'000
Condemned 2 690'000
All three of those big budget games outsold by Boom Blox?
Bully 800'000 which is twice as much as the Wii version.
Anyhow just curious looking at this.
I knew Mario Kart Wii was super popular, but I had no idea it has sold that much already!
For Edgecrusher, GC sales
Smash Bros 7.08 million
Mario Kart 6.96 million
Mario Sunshine 6.28 million
Wind Waker 4.5 million
Luigis Mansion 3.53 million????
Animal Crossing 2.98 million, City Folk has it beat already, Wild World 3 times over
Metroid prime 2.83 million
Pokemon Colleseum 2.54 million
Sonic A2 2.54 million
Rogue Squadron 1.9 million, this is what Wii third parties should realistically be aiming for.
Starfox Adventures 1.88 million
Pikmin 1.63 million bad by Nintendo standards, good considering it's the 17th best selling cube game.
RE4 1.69 million
Paper Mario 2.05 million
Twilight Princess 1.56 million
REmake 1.42 million
Crystal Chronicles and the two monkey ball games at 1.38 million
Prime 2 and RE0 both at 1.29 million
Fire Emblem path of radiance? 160'000??????
Viewtiful Joe and F-Zero GX 120'000?
Wave race blue storm 90'000?
Battalion wars 70'000?
I'm starting to think those last 4 are hinky.
If you look at GC vs Wii sales you have similar sales of first party staples like Mario Sunshine or even Smash Bros. But the GC list really tails off and the 3rd party list is pretty pathetic when it comes to comparing them to 3rd party sales on Wii. Viewtiful Joe 120'000? Elebits is considered a sales flop at more than twice that number.
If true, that seriously sucks! Blue Storm was an awsome racing game.
It's a niche title.
