I can think of a dub I like. The Czech film "Alice." There's simply a single line (well many single lines that are pretty much the same, 'said the white rabit, sighed the white rabit' etc.) that is delivered by a close up to Alice's mouth, and the fact it is out fo synch, ads to the surealism. I'm not sure it would be worse in Czech, but it's pretty surreal and awesome as it is.
While the change in perspective (and gameplay, really) was absolutely necessary, I can understand why people would want to go back to the old style. RE4 was just simply not scary. There was a hell of a lot of tension, and (what's around the corner?!) but when what was around the corner appeared there was no "eek!" you just shot the bastard dead.
Oh, and photobucket is exceeding bandwidth left right and centre.
I always wanted to see Renaissance. Give me your Deathnote impressions when you are done bugs.
Spriggan could have been great but it gets uneven and silly towards the end. It could have been made into a decent action series though. I haven't seen Fritz Lang's Metropolis, but I'm guessing it's pretty different. It's based on a story by Katsuhiro Otomo, Akira and Steamboy creator. It's fairly long, sometimes slow but it has imagery that you will still be thinking about the next day and in your sleep.
Rygar got pretty good reviews and has some fond memories for some, I hear. It was suppossed to be out at the tail end of last year and they said that they might delay it to improve it and from the screens it looks to be more polished. I just dont see many games like this on the Wii so I'm keeping an eye on it. I'm more excited that games thought to be long dead, aren't. I was going to type up a wordy response to your RE5 controls issue, but Iga basically said what I was going to.
It's a good point that development cycles are longer these days and the cost of developing new hardware like the PS3 and 360 was so astronomically high that companies will want to bleed things out and make money. But hardware lifecycles depend on success. As soon as a company spots an opportunity, or through failure has to act, then you have a new machine primed and ready to go.
PS3/Wii came out at the end of 2006, given a 5 year lifecycle you would be looking to the end of 2011 for the next consoles. That also depends on MS having a 6 year lifecycle and waiting for the other guys.
But they could remedy that problem by simply offering a harder mode with less ammo and more powerful enemies. Like those guys in RE4 who regenerated and you had to use the heat scope to take them down.
Did the updates. Kingdom hearts rumour is interesting.
Research recently showed that PS2 owners were twice as likely to own a Wii or 360 compared to a PS3. Given the Wii demographic, it's sales in Japan and worldwide you wouldn't really expect Square to put into action a PS3 exclusive epic Kingdom Hearts game. I would have more likely expected a PSP exclusive or something easier to make.
Square has really given the Wii a cold shoulder IMHO.
Sure they're making those lame ass FF and dragon quest side games on the Wii, but with how good its selling you'd think they would throw more of their better product on it. Disappointing.
Since it's a Japanese RPG company, given japanese sales. Wii is outselling PS3 3:1 regularly and sometimes more. Given their experience on PS2 and the cheaper costs and shorter lead times in developing games I would have expected much more from them.
I think on GC FFCC was Q funded from Nintendo. Is the Crystal Bearers under similar funding? That Chocobo game, I mean it has a fully fleshed out presentation but these FF or DQ spin offs aren't what people want and aren't that great either. Square used to go with the most popular platform. Now MS is courting japanese companies with a wealth of cash.
M$= Pure evil.
They still are see DS
Well it's also access to western markets and a platform of similar specs to work with. I think MS said that no money hatting was involved in the FF XIII 360 announcement.
Portable though. Did they support gba over PS2?
Team Ninja are working on 3 new titles.
Nope that's only Naruto. He has whiskers because the demon fox is sealed within him. All the other characters have no whiskers.
Nope the supported the PS2 much, much more! The consoles are dead, long live the handhelds!
Hope not. I'll do a few more updates.
This place is dead today.
I got HOTD 2 and 3 today for a bargain price.
This game is better than Umbrella Chronicles. HOTD 3 in particular has better graphics than Timesplitters 2 and better gameplay than umbrella chronicles.
Seriously the only thing that UC has over this game is being able to switch weapons and having the levels segmented.
Gameplay and visually HOTD3 is better. I might do a more in depth preview at some point, but if you like lightgun games and can get this at a good price, do it.
These are Xbox screens but the game looks the same if not better on Wii. What you can't see is that it runs at a silky smooth 60 FPS and it has vibrant colours and it's crisp. HOTD 3 is better balanced than HOTD 2 by far.
Morning all. GG, I'm surprised you liked HOTD 3. I played the game recently and was shocked at two things. Firstly, just how easy the game is. I beat the game in a single sitting - the only advantage I gave myself was I had more credits and lives than the default. Plus, auto-reload isn't fun. Though it does hold up extremely well visually.
Secondly, just really how ineffective the shotgun is. Might have been just me, but it felt just as powerful as a handgun. It didn't seem like a proper shotgun, but perhaps I've been spoiled by Resident Evil 4.
Again, it's not a bad game, but it's certainly not the best HOTD game. I'd still say HOTD 2 is better, but that's only because of how the dialogue is not only awful, but delivered in such a way, that it becomes the greatest thing of all time. I was expecting to chuckle and laugh at HOTD 3...but I didn't get that. The oh so seriousness of it didn't appeal to me.
But hey, that's just my take.
I'm shocked that someone licensed Bobobōbo Bōbobo and translated it into English. I thought that manga/anime would have never been translated, or would have been extremely difficult to do so. So you could imagine my surprise when it's on, early in the morning, and retains some of the random and oft weird humour that it posesses.
And they will all suck.
Actually on the Internet you can find fan-translated manga and anime. Most of the time they are better than the professional translation. The Zelda Windwaker manga is also fan-translated. Oh, one more thing, Bobobo is also dubbed in Dutch too.
I didn't play much of them, but from what I did play HOTD3 is definitely the better game. The production values are about 20 times better and the game has a better feel to it. HOTD2 felt like I was playing the light-gun equivalent of DMC2.
Aren't they both just ports from the Dreamcast on Xbox and Wii? Long live the Dreamcast.
Wow Kotaku. How stupid do they think their readers are?
OF COURSE SPORE IS GOING TO GET FUCKING TORRENTED AND CRACKED.
I mean, REALLY, who did not see that coming!?
Yes but it depends whether or not that oppurtunity effects Nintendo. Remember the market clearly has shown that it does not care for graphics or power. And looking the Wii Balance Board and 1:1 Motion Sensing Nintendo definately isn't scared to do new things with the Wii to keep it up to date. I think 2011-2014 will be VERY interesting to see the route that the industry and market will take.
One of the site's forefathers.
Play fighting games!
I guarantee Nintendo will not be the first to launch new hardware. As great as they are, they are also one of the most penny-pinching companies on the planet which is why their hardware is always great but gimped in some way (N64 carts, Cube mini-discs as well as pocketing extra development money that would have made the console superior to Xbox, Wii....hardly any jump in power at all).
Now with the success of Wii, unlike the past 2 Nintendo consoles people have given them a reason to hold out as long as possible. This could be like the Game Boy depending on what MS or Sony do to steal its thunder. Nintendo is making so much money off Wii while really not doing much more than what they did for Gamecube, that there's no way in hell they will put out a new machine until their profits go way the fuck down.
I really expect Microsoft to once again be the first to launch. They're the new SEGA, just with a lot more money and not as well liked by enthusiasts. Sony will I think ride the PS3 until its at least making a bit of money, is at least as popular as 360, and they can say it was a success.
I also think next-gen will be the one where people really begin to see that having a single standardized console format is the best way to go for the future, as technology slows down and differences in consoles disappear. Its just not the Genesis vs. SNES or PS1 VS. N64 era's with vastly different hardware and huge amounts of exclusives anymore.
