Has anyone checked out the IGN Wii star wars preview? Game is looking........ great actually. Everything has been improved and is a blast to play. Motion control is almost 100% responsive. Graphics are decent although the storm troopers look crap:
^^^Those are fucking Wii screens? I'm honestly shocked if those are truly Wii screens. Especially from a Lucasarts game not done by Factor 5. What is the gameplay supposed to be like anyway? I honestly haven't paid much attention to this game.
Ding ding ding. Shitty Nintendo charging me to pay for their cracked hinge DS problem and trying to charge me for their overheating wii GPU and the red and green dots.
I haven't hassled myself with trying to get my Wii online again (since it wasn't working wirelessly in the dorms and my PC doesn't like the USB peripheral), but it just gets so warm during normal operation that I'm scared to leave it running for updates when I do go online. I swear, if my Wii has a faulty GPU and I find out, I am going to be super-pissed. Bought the thing in December '06, so it's definitely not under warranty. A friend of mine, unfortunately, has discovered that his Wii has a bad GPU.
This generation is a joke. The most reliable hardware is basically a last gen console with an interface that divides gamers, and even it doesn't have a spotless history--there was a harmful firmware update for it! Trying to constantly have a working 360 is, plain and simple, a money pit. And now Sony decides to be negligent about the consequences of its own software on its machines. Still, though, no matter how disappointing this generation is because of these facts, the PS3 still sounds like the best bet insofar as its a true "next gen" console and it's extremely reliable. It's only the company that's screwing up after the machine is out the door (and of course it made an even bigger screw-up before even launching it... damn price).
Apparentely it only affects launch models like mine and possibly yours if they are left in WiiConnect24 mode. Which was what the feature was you know.. designed for and we were encouraged to do no less. Stupid asses wont repair it because it's out of warranty by like 4 weeks. And I can't believe how they stiffed me on DS cracked hinge repair. They said they would repair it for free or issue me a new one for FREE.
But then said that I would have to pay a small postage fee.... of $60! It was normal mail too, it's not like it was frigging courier delivered. Stupid asses and their crappy broken hinges. Now whenever I open my DS lid, I open it very, very carefully.
My 360 aside from sounding louder than a landing aeroplane has never given my any problems but I've probably used it 1/4 of the time if that that I have compared to wii.

Yeah they are wii screens. I'm impressed given that a crappy studio is making it, Krome. Who are handling the PS2 and PSP versions too. Those version also have some extras over the big brother version on ps3/360. There is this dual mode where you can pit any star wars character vs any othe in these classic arenas, essentially allowing you to re-create classic lightsaber battles of the movies and mode. But there are also between 3-5 new levels that do not make an appearance in the other versions too.
As maybe the most important aspect of our hands-on time with the game, we're happy to report that the motion control in The Force Unleashed is extremely tight and reliable, and actually some of the best we've seen for any Wii action game. Swipes from left to right, right to left, vertical upper-cuts and slams, and even stab motions worked extremely well – nearly 100% of the time – and even dual-handed motion such as the huge force maelstrom or complicated push + lighting variations worked almost flawlessly. Force Unleashed was fun last time around, but it was a total waggle-fest. This time, we were able to actually decide exactly how to dispose of enemies, and it was extremely rewarding. It was easy to throw characters into one another, lift a baddy up into the air and then saber throw, the lock-on camera worked great for bosses, and even the "tilt to the side" block with the Wii-mote worked every time we wanted it to. Force Unleashed had potential before, but it's a blast to play now.
They have videos up too which I'm going to look at now
I just watched the video....dude that looks pretty damn good. I'd have to say as far as realism goes its the best looking game on Wii. If it ends up being great stuff and the controls are done well, I'll probably get the Wii version over the 360 one.

Certainly looks better than Far Cry Vengeance.
I have a feeling that I'm going to buy the 360 version, then somehow at a later date get my hands on the wii version and have more fun with it because of the controls and the duel mode. When I watched the death star bay lightsaber fight between Luke and Darth I got a few little chills down my back.
Stormtroopers look horrible though, all grey. I hear that the duel mode works like Dreamcast Powerstone arenas?
My brother recently had problems with his Wii overheating and freezing up. So I'm like Hmm that's weird, where do you keep it? He says I have it standing up next to the TV. Just for the hell of it, not really thinking he'd be this foolish about it, I say....you have it on the stand right? Cause the stand lets the air vents on the bottom of the machine suck in much needed air and stuff....
He says oh man, you're joking right? There's a vent on the bottom? I don't have it in the stand, I just have it sitting up flat on its own. I'm like LOL there's your problem man....it can't breathe! Ever since then, its been fine for him....but who knows what damage was done. Probably cut a few years off its lifespan.
For about 99% of its life I've had it on the stand. Right now it's in front of the TV, so I have it flat, but... I suppose I could stand it up just so Nintendo doesn't disappoint me by telling me they won't fix a known problem that's their fault.
GG, if it only affects launch models... ok, yeah, I better put it on the stand now and NEVER leave it on standby for WiiKillIt24. I can't afford a new system right now.
Those are some impressive FU (Force Unleashed ) screens! But why the hell does the stormtrooper look so much worse than everything else? Looks like a model that was initially designed for the N64 or something. Is the Wii version supposed to be exactly the same as the PS2 version? Those graphics almost look too good for the PS2... or maybe I'm fooling myself.
WiiConnect24 has really been the most useless feature I've ever seen from Nintendo. I used it for the first week. . . only because it took me that long to figure out how to disable it. My Wii became very hot when it was on which is never a good thing when it comes to electronics.
Animal Crossing Hint
Hurry up, Nintendo! I need a new Animal Crack--I mean, Crossing fix!
Star Wars Unleashed Wii
Looks good! Hopefully, it'll turn out well. I've been burned by Star Wars games before, so I still have my doubts.
A new version of the PS2?! God, give it a fucking rest Sony. How about concentrating on your underwhelming next-gen machine? Maybe you could work on updates that actually work instead of "suave new PS2's"?

But the PS2 is the only thing make them any money.

Stormtroopers look crap and that is bad when they feature so heavily in the game. I think the wii version is based off the PS2 version and then tarted up with better lighting and cleaner textures. I think the wii version is the focus of the three (PSP/2/wii)
Nevar!
Finally. What took you so long Freakboy?

Those Castlevania Judgement pics really impress. Hell, it looks almost as good as Soul Calibur 1!

Fuck Microsoft. Fuck Sony.
And Fuck Nintendo too, to a lesser extent.
Shit, another PS2 model?
I might as well buy my first one.
