I love the way this game looks:

trailer and pics here.

Such a shame you can only move left and right like space invaders. Sad It's a wiiware game coming in December. The video reminds me of Jet force gemini. I hope that someone backs them to do a proper game.

Does this remind anyone else of Pocky and Rocky?

I would love a retail game like this but played like Jet force gemini moving through environments, throw a story mode, some decent cutscenes, weapon management and platforming.

Looks neat. I might get a lightgun game in the near future to play with my kids, (although the genre does nothing for me) and this might be a good candidate.

Edit: Has no video. Is the FR smooth?

Perfectly but its not on rails. Literally its like a set that collapses and you stay on the same plane strafing left and right and jumping and dodging whilst shooting. Very limited but as a fun WiiWare blaster it looks okay.

I'll grab it if it's cheap then. 2 players? Does it look easy or hard?

I can't tell about the diffculty, it looks like it can get really hectic and I assume you use the nunchuk for movement and the reticule to aim. Could be one of those deceptive games that offers challenge despite the cutesy look. Either way, you're blowing up so much stuff, buildings collapse around you etc that it looks fun either way.

As long as movement is restricted to the horizontal plane it's alright.

I didn't know you two had kids together.

Steel Overkill would be awesome for your kids. Within the day they will be running around, ducking out of doorframes shouting "Freeze bitches!" and when your wife asks them to clean their rooms they'll look to each other  and say "What does a brother have to do to pacify a bitch?"
