I feel I should make this thread. I was looking at web archives of our days on GS, I made so many massive zelda threads. So much effort put into them. Oh well those days are gone but I promise you the love for these games remains. Tomorrow I will get to replay an all time favorite with a beautiful new coat of paint. Reviews have been excellent as they should be. I assume we all played this game before... if not please get it and share thoughts.

I never played it before. I loved gameboy at the time but in reality its visuals are even worse than the NES. So I never dug into this or games like Metroid 2

I will probably get this. I'm trying to decide between Astral Chain, Fire Emblem and this game. Feels weird after a long drought that I now cannot choose. And Luigis Mansion is out fairly soon too.

I'm sure I'll get it eventually, but I'm in no hurry. I haven't played the GB versions, so it'll be completely new once I do get it.

You know I don't think I have it!

But I am absolutely going to get the one released this week.

I never liked handhelds so I never played any of the great handheld games. Always boggled my mind that they couldn't also just port the HH games to the home consoles for the people like me who preferred playing that way. But I guess they figured we would all cave & buy the hardware. They were wrong of course. And as such, they lost out on some software sales.

The handheld games that have been ported to console or PC seem to have had lukewarm receptions, and I don't remember them making a big sales splash. The AssCreed port comes to mind. May not be a big profit margin based on the cost of porting, compared to if you remake the game to look more consoly like Nintendo is doing here (higher cost, but higher marketability, versus low cost, yet niche marketability).

That said, I'm with you. I wish I'd got the GameCube GBA player thingy rather than my GBA: SP (but it is a nice red, at leastNyaa).

Played a bit of this tonight and I like it. When I first saw this game’s reveal I wasn’t exactly sold on its visual style but actually playing the game I find it pretty appealing. I just love the soundtracks of the Zelda games and I always feel a bit of joy playing them. This one is no different. So far I haven’t really noticed the technical flaws that have been mentioned elsewhere however I’m not really all that sensitive to those things like some other people may be. I played the DX version briefly so I am remembering these early moments. Looking forward to playing through the whole game this time.

Yeah, same here.  Still, it's Zelda.  I'll probably pick it up digitally further down the line whenever it gets a nice discount.  Which is something that would not be on the cards in previous generations, but I feel pretty confident waiting for now.

Had a very busy weekend at Disney so didnt play much. Just finished dungeon 3 and getting into the groove. Love how packed with secrets every inch of this game is. The game is showing its age but its still brilliant.

Finally got to sit down and get into the meat of the game after dungeon 3 and it’s been magical. I haven’t played the game in years so I am pretty fresh, got stuck a few times but when I found my way it felt so good. This overworld is so packed with things to find! And the map icon feature is a god send. I only dabbled in the dampe dungeon, I can see it getting boring but trying to design something interesting could be fun.

There are a few design areas where it’s showing it’s age, it’s not as clever in the puzzle department. That said it nails the adventure feel. I can’t put it down right now.

I have no enthusiasm for games these days. I think I'll get luigis mansion. Maybe try Mario kart tour.

Nooooo, we need the gaminggeek back. Sad

I can’t stop playing this, I want to play it non stop but then it will end. It’s starts slow and then hits that zelda stride. These dungeons while basic in terms of design today still are enough to keep me guessing and posses a few ohhhh wow moments. LA is just packed with greatness around every corner. I remember why this is the best handheld, the oracle games were more ambitious but they had some questionable map design and obtuse direction. This is ALTTP level, just a little bit simplistic in comparson. It’s as good as I remember. Man this feels so good, more Zelda please.

My god eagle tower, that was Nintendo just flexing dungeon design. Frustrating sure, but I love dungeons were the layout itself is a puzzle. What a damn game, at first I was wondering if I would love it as much as I did back in the day but now I know why it was a favorite of mine. The game just doesn’t stop being amazing. What a game.

The best two games this year are remakes, how about that. (Obviously RE2 is a true remake and this is more of a remaster, shows how fantastic the Zelda formula is)

Still an all time classic, what a damn game. Wish the Dampe stuff was better though. I am ready for Oracle remakes!

Link's Awakening (not the remake, haven't played it, 30 faps, gross) was always as good if not as guder as Link to the Past.
