While the PS1 classics line on the PS3 has improved greatly over the past year, there are still tons of incredible PS1 games nowhere to be found on the PSN service. Some of the best N64 games ever made are nowhere to be found on the Wii's Virtual Console. Not to mention Final Fantasy 6 on the SNES. And where the hell are all the Saturn and Dreamcast games?!

So what gives? Why is it taking so long for the hardware guys to get a complete list of classics from past consoles onto their online servers? Do they just like to piss Edgerusher off?

There's so many games I'd download in a heartbeat, if only they were available...

I believe there are two reasons for this:

1) They want to spread their classic game releases out so they can consistently get people to keep coming back to their online stores (where they may see other things to buy), and also to get as much free advertising from gaming magazines/websites as they can.

2) They don't want those cheaper classic games taking away sales from their new $60 releases.

Well as far as my PSP goes I'm downloading all of them, even if they're not available on PSN.  Call me the bad guy if you need to, but I want my Legend of Mana, I want my Torneko the Last Hope, and I want my Breath of Fire IV. I've paid for several PSOne Classics already, and will be more than happy to pay my $6 once they decided to finally release them.  In this age of digital downloads there's no reason not to make them available other than putting them in collections or remaking them to squeeze more money from the consumer.  But, particularly with the PSN when only 90 or so PSOne classics are released in almost 3 years it shows what kind of priority the games are being given.

I have less grievence with the Virtual Console as far as the 16 bit and earlier games go.  But I'm still wondering why so many of the N64 games are still ignored.  In the 3 years that's been going there is maybe what. . . 2 dozen N64 games?  Probably not even that.  Ricockulous.

And here's one message I'd like to give to Sega. ENOUGH WITH THE FUCKING GENESIS COLLECTIONS!!!!!! WE'VE GOT THEM ALREADY!!! PLEASE MOVE THE FUCK ON THE SATURN AND DREAMCAST GAMES!!!!!

Remember kids, if you type in all caps there is a better choice people will hear what you have to say.  Okay done with my rambling. I'm going to drink some more.

I don't think PS1 games have any hope of taking away sales from the newer games though, Raven. Its mostly the people that grew up with those games that really want them, and they're so cheap they're not stopping me from buying any new games.

Oh, and another thing is PS2 games. There's no reason whatsofuckingever why we should not have PS2 games on the PS3 as well. Xbox can do it, so Playstation can, too. And I fully expect Gamecube and Wii titles on Nintendo's next machine.

Forget PS1 classics (well don't, I want more too!), they don't even put out enough PSP games on PSN... At least in Europe they don't. How do they expect the Go to sell if there are so few games for it? I don't have a Go but games here are expensive and stay full price a long time while I got Monster Hunter Freedom Unite very cheap via PSN for example. Would be nice to have a larger selection with the correct MSRP and price cuts for older games etc.

Those are all good reasons, and then you can throw in a dose of cluelessness and ignorance.  A lot of our favorite games did not sell that well the first time out, so I'm assuming they are looking at the Greatest Hits lists before they are looking into the fan favorites.

I think everyone likes to do this. It should be our new forum hobby.

I guess it has to do with licences and rights first, emulation and code second and then timing and cost? These platform holders seems to want a steady but limited trickle as oppossed to just doing what everybody really wants: just dump the whole freaking library at once and let you choose what you want out of it.

Some of the most popular games are not available yet though, so its not just because these are all fan-favorites that didn't sell well.

As I said, Final Fantasy 6....where is it? Donkey Kong 64....sure made by Rare but its a Nintendo property. Where's that?

It pisses me off...

No idea on DK 64, they have DKC so why not 64?

I still have all my N64 games but the machine finally crapped out a couple of years back.

And its so much more convenient to just have them at the ready as downloads to be played with a superior controller, than breaking out an N64 with a crappy N64 pad.

Is there an N64 pad with a stick that doesn't turn to shit after a few months? It gets stiff like my fist Archie's cock when he sees Chobot-ass.

For real. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but I actually DL'd SimCIty for SNES just for the convenience (and I have a SNES hooked up, AND SimCity).

This was the best N64 controller out there, better than the Nintendo pad. The Superpad/Makopad:

^ Yup. I had one of those controllers back in the day. Easily the best N64 controller. Shoot, I liked the design so much, I bought the PC version too. Happy
