What game did you play the most but not finish (so far this year)?

Any reason why you did not finish it?

Not this year, but the original KOTOR.

I was up to the last part of the game, had two saves (for both Jedi and Sith), and on the Jedi Save, I was in the middle of the final battle. Then my computer goes mental, and we have to reformat it.

I lost close to 25 hours of gameplay time. I haven't touched the game since.

The Conduit.

I made it through 7 out of 9 levels, but I just couldn't bring myself to continue any further. Generic is the game's motto.

Ouch! That sucks.

Oddly enough, I actually finished KOTOR on Xbox. It's the only RPG I've ever finished! I chose the Jedi path where my character was nauseatingly good. It took me around 58 hours (according to the in-game timer) to complete it.

Be happy that you missed the last level.

The last level (finished it today) was up there among the worst endings ever.  I feel sory for the developers, it's pretty clear the project ran out of money -- at least for development, I saw plenty of promotion for this game.  It will probably be remembered as "that other game that the wiispeak supported".

My not this year story was Scarface for the XB. I was 21 hours into the game and I (through a glitch) got a boat into a zone of the game that it did not belong in. Once I restarted it had autosaved me in the main part of the game with the boat (but with no way to dock it).  It was the only save slot.

I was literally stranded at sea for eternity.  I should have haunted them, it would have been like Tony Montana in The Ghost and Mrs Muir.

Rune Factory: Frontier.  I put in 40+ hours and realized I was only about halfway through, and while I enjoyed it, it was time to move on to another game.

Most recently.  Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones.  I loved the game, got through the first handful of levels and got to the first level with an arena for leveling up.  i didn't know when to call quits and i leveled up and leveled up until i lost one of my best guys.  then i tried to go on, and level up another one in their place and did so for some more hours until another very important character died.  both of them died against the odds and without a chance to really submit before dying.  pissed me off no end.  will never touch the game again (at least not anytime soon)

Bugs, you just retry the levels in fire emblem to make sure no one dies.

I haven't completed either of the gba FE games. Okami, or Mass Effect, KOTOR, Oddworld Strangers Wrath, Bwii, FFCC DS, FF Revenent wings DS. Advance wars DC on DS. A lot of other stuff I sold because I didn't want to complete it, Deadly creatures etc.

i know, but i had been playing the arena level for days upon days just leveling up my characters.  to replay that level would be to replay the last 20 hours or so i put into it.

Ah, I only do the arenas a tiny bit at a time.

Oh yeah and I haven't finished Darkness or Stranglehold because they are pants.

Oh and a shedload of VC games, from Super Metroid to Goemon etc. Usually its difficulty but also the fact that the games dont look good on an HD set and didn't work at all on an HD set till recentely.

I could never finish KOTOR 2.  I was about 30 hours into the game when a glitch made the game go completely dark.  I was very pissed that day.

Okay, I just remembered the big one from this year. I put about 40-45 hours into GTA4. I'm about to finish the Sicilian strain of missions where I have to battle a bunch of guys in an abandoned steel mill.  Each time I fail I have to go back through the whole rigamarole of driving here and there to restart the mission and I've just not had the patience. (This coming from a guy who beat the PSP GTA's last month).

I always feel like I'm rolling the dice whenever I make a long-term ocmmitment to a game on the original XB. Those friggin Thompson drives were worse than the ring of red.
